Hi there,

Anyone else doing IVF this month? I’ve had 2 weeks of Buserelin, and just started the oestrogen tablets today. I’ve never known time to go so slowly before. 😬😂

FET planned for end of August.

I’ve been a hormonal wreck. Got AF this weekend, plus all the extra hormones, and the other half doesn’t know what to do with me - or himself! Ha Ha.

Would be nice to connect with others going through IVF at the moment. x

Last night I was reading the Mumsnet forums and my partner asked what I was up to. I told him. And he said, "what are you doing on there, you're not a mum yet! Haha". I did not find it funny and told him so. He apologised but I am still upset.

Might be mood swings from the drugs but it really upset me. :'(

IVFaugust2018 · 31/08/2018 18:51

Hi @Thund4rcat it's hard not to be sensitive when it means so much. That being said, I think what he said to you was unnecessary. My husband whinges about taking his vitamin supplement, so now I give myself the injections in front of him - I want him to literally see what I'm putting myself through as I wonder if it's easier for them to forget?

My temper is pretty short at the moment though, my lovely mother in law nudged me and told me I was glowing the other day - I'm not fucking glowing and I'm definitely not pregnant so I just had to leave the room! She knows we're having ICSI!!

Cariad2017 · 31/08/2018 19:41

Sorry you’re having a tough time dealing with the unhelpful comments of others IVFAugust and Thund4Cat.

CatRen and IVFAugust good luck with your respective embryologist update/ scans tomorrow. I hope they bring good news. 🍀🍀🍀🍀

Cariad2017 · 31/08/2018 19:47

IVF is still going at this end. No major symptoms to report other than tiredness. Booked in for egg collection on Tuesday, which means that I’ll take the trigger shot on Sunday night. Still 10 follicles, which as mentioned previously is less than I’d hoped for, particularly as our issue is meant to be MFI and the high sperm DNA fragmentation may well result in us losing quite a lot of eggs post fertilisation (if we even get that far)...

Feeling a little disheartened by it all at the moment, particularly after I whacked £5k on my card to pay for it this morning.

The good news however is that I only have a week left at work before I go on holiday, which I am enormously looking forward to.

Cariad2017 · 31/08/2018 19:49

Great to hear from you LangPants. Still keeping everything crossed for you at this end. I hope the wait isn’t proving to be too agonising. The same goes for Shaw.

Cariad2017 · 31/08/2018 19:49

Melissa - hope today’s transfer went swimmingly. Thinking of you.

CatRen27 · 31/08/2018 22:36

Wow @th4nder and @ivf2018 sorry to hear people are being insensitive, it makes it that bit harder doesn't it. Stay strong, you're tough cookies.

@cariad yikes thats a lot of cold hard cash.. hopefully the only time you'll have to make that transfer. Exciting that things are moving, and hope you get some really great quality eggs. Will you be fully knocked out for the surgery? I wanted to see what was happening but they sent me to sleep.

My update is that my period arrived today, early as expected, 5 days after egg collection. So we're into my FET cycle and I'm excited! I am overly invested in our little embryos so probably need to reign in the expectations a little but its hard not to hope.

@langpants when will you test???

Cariad2017 · 31/08/2018 22:42

Oooh. That was quick CatRen. Hoorah for CD1. Any news on how your embryos are coming along?

Yes - I’m having GA for egg collection. My consultant advised me against sedation as apparently recovery is faster from GA.

CatRen27 · 01/09/2018 10:15

5day update on the little embryo party: we've got 9 blastocysts safely stored up in the freezer, biopsied and ready to be screened. And they're watching another 3 and think they might be able to add another 1 to the group. So possibly 10 all up. I'm so pleased.

I'm not sure how it will work timing wise as the screening results take 2-3 weeks and i might ovulate before then. We might pop an unscreened one in if possible, just to give it a go. I'll hear more tomorrow i think.

I thought we'd have around 5 by this stage so its really good news. Hopefully we don't have to use all of them..!

IVFaugust2018 · 01/09/2018 10:39

So just had the day 8 bloods and scan. Sonographer said I had lots of follicles and seemed happy, but then just been to the nurse who said there are 3 that are the right size with another couple that may get there. Waiting for the results from the hormone blood test for them to make the decision of whether to have further blood test and scan tomorrow or Monday with trigger Sunday or Monday for egg collection Tuesday or Wednesday.

Nurse said they like more mature eggs for ICSI and if they leave it too long for the others to catch up then the big ones will get too big. I guess I'll know more later when they've made the decision.

Don't know how I feel, it's so difficult to understand what's going on most of the time! I guess I've just got to trust that they know best and will make the best decisions for me xx

Langpants · 01/09/2018 11:14

@CatRen27 - tested this morning. BFN. Not even a faint positive. I'm 8dpt today and still 6 days until otd, so still have time/staying positive.

Lovely to hear everyone else's news. X

Amazing news CatRen That’s such a good crop. I shall be keeping everything crossed that your first FET is successful, but hopefully even if it’s not, you can avoid going through IVF again. You must be over the moon! 💕💕💕

IVFAugust - It’s really tricky. I’ve been a slow responder, but on my first scan the sonographer spotted 14 potential follicles but only one was big enough for them to bother measuring (they only measure those over 10mm). Since then, the lead follicle has continued to be miles ahead of the pack in terms of growth, and the clinic on balance appear to have decided to risk waiting for the pack (of around 9) to be of a decent size, which risks the lead follicle being past its best. It can be a tricky balancing act though, and I think you’re right - you need to trust their judgment. Hopefully you’ll have more clarity once the results of the blood tests are in.

Cariad2017 · 01/09/2018 13:00

LangPants - Hang on in there my lovely. I’m keeping everything crossed that it’s way too early for you and that you will get your BFP in time for your OTD.

IVFaugust2018 · 01/09/2018 15:30

Just had a call back, told to put the Menopur down to 112.5 and come back in for a scan and bloods Monday. Don't know what it all means obviously because as soon as I speak to anybody at the clinic my mind goes blank and I get flustered! 🤞 hope the other follicles catch up!

IVFaugust2018 · 01/09/2018 15:32

Thanks for the reassurance @Cariad2017 it's so hard to keep a level head with all of these expectations, hopes and hormones rushing around! It feels so surreal sometimes!

CatRen27 · 02/09/2018 05:56

@ivf2018 sorry you're not feeling great about things, it sounds like they're not keeping you as in-the-loop as they could in terms of the decisions they're making. But they're obviously doing what they think will maximize the number of the right sized eggs if they're changing up your dosages. Hopefully you'll get more of an idea of things on Monday.

@langpants sorry about the bfn, i feel a bit guilty for pushing a poas addict agenda.. its definitely early though, so hoping for your bfp soon!

CatRen27 · 02/09/2018 06:03

Thanks @cariad, I am so flipping pleased i actually can't believe it - they biopsied and froze the last one this morning, so 10 all up. I'm going to push for a transfer this cycle even if the pgd results don't come in time. Sounds crazy but we're so keen to try, I'm not sure what the downside would be - if it sticks, great. If it doesn't, pop another tested one in. I guess if they all come back as chromosomal duds then I'd worry if I was upduffed with a potential dud... hrmm will have to speak to the fc tomorrow. Any idea when your trigger shot will be? Sorry if I've missed that xx

CatRen27 · 02/09/2018 06:05

Sorry you did say Sunday - exciting that's today! Is it ovidrel? Just the one i hope.

Cariad2017 · 02/09/2018 15:41

CatRen - That’s fabulous news. 10 in the freezer is utterly amazing. I shall be keeping everything crossed that the PGS results are positive too.

Taking my trigger shot (Ovitrelle) at 10.30 tonight, then a day off from medication tomorrow, before a 7am trip to the clinic on Tuesday for egg collection. Really hoping they manage to retrieve a half decent crop.

Good luck for your scan tomorrow IVFAugust.

IVFaugust2018 · 02/09/2018 20:41

Amazing news @CatRen27 having 10 in the freezer!! Fingers crossed you can have a chance of one going in this month 🤞

@Cariad2017 good luck for Tuesday and hope your trigger goes smoothly tonight

I've not managed to really do anything useful the past couple of days, feel so very nauseous and tired - didn't realise the stimulation drugs would have such an effect and not sure why it's kicked in with a vengeance on day 8!

snowfee · 03/09/2018 08:51

Great news @CatRen27
@Cariad2017 hope the trigger injection went well last night and all goes well tomorrow.

I'm on day 6 of stim injections, still getting bouts of feeling depressed and constant headache (just a dull one so not too bad). Today I woke with really bad back pain around my kidneys. I haven't seen that mentioned as a side effect of the medication but from memory I sometimes get back pain during my cycle so guess it's all linked.

Shaw81 · 03/09/2018 11:48

Hi all,
Not been on here for a while so haven't read all the posts but brilliant news CatRen27 :)

I'm going out of my mind! Had the 1 embyro put back in a week last Saturday but not really had any symptoms! I'm due on tomorrow but they told me to test on Friday.... The wait is just driving me mad! I feel so upset at times it's definitely the worst part for me!

IVFaugust2018 · 03/09/2018 11:58

Day 10 of stims and just had another scan and blood test and think it's not good news. The sonographer today said there are lots and lots of follicles that are deceptively large and thinks I may have over stimulated. They've changed my trigger to Buserelin to try and keep my oestrogen in check and I'm now waiting to get a phone call to tell me when to take the injection tonight. Don't know how many they've counted, but at least I know that's why I've felt so poorly the past couple of days. Obviously just reducing my Menopur Saturday didn't do the trick! EC planned for Wednesday - fingers crossed I'll still be able to go ahead with a fresh cycle 🤞

IVFaugust2018 · 03/09/2018 13:11

Oestrogen Saturday was 10,000 now today is 21,000 so EC confirmed for Wednesday, taking the Suprecur injection at 10.30 tonight. They will make the decision then as to whether I can have a fresh cycle or if it will be freeze all once they've got the eggs on Wednesday. Just hoping now that the eggs will be a decent quality given that there's lots and nobody can give me a number at the moment!

CatRen27 · 03/09/2018 13:30

Wow @ivfaug what a lot to process. That's s really really high estrogen level, I'd be surprised if they decide to go ahead to fresh transfer. Only because for me they said they find an extra hcg shot at transfer that could spur a late onset ohss which isn't great if you then get your bfp. Maybe they do things differently where you are though. No wonder you've been so uncomfortable!! Really hope they've managed to halt the growth and they can get some perfectly sized follicles. Good luck with the trigger!
