August IVF

Hi there,

Anyone else doing IVF this month? I’ve had 2 weeks of Buserelin, and just started the oestrogen tablets today. I’ve never known time to go so slowly before. 😬😂

FET planned for end of August.

I’ve been a hormonal wreck. Got AF this weekend, plus all the extra hormones, and the other half doesn’t know what to do with me - or himself! Ha Ha.

Would be nice to connect with others going through IVF at the moment. x

Just catching up on the posts after a weekend at the spa. Was really relaxing and now back to reality, I feel the pressure, headache, anxious, nervous, cramps all kicking back in.
@CatRen27 @Shaw81 @Langpants Fantastic news :-)
@Thund4rcat Thanks for sharing. will bite the bullet with the pains and scream at the wall instead.
@IVFaugust2018 How long were you down regging for? Was it Suprecur? I called the clinic this morning to say that AF started 3 days ago but they said I cannot start Menopur until I have a scan so have to wait till Friday. Did you have a scan before Menopur?
@Thund4rcat After how many days of Buserelin injections did you have a scan? Sorry to hear about your conference. I'm due to start on a new project in a couple of weeks and really don't know what to do or say as it's all up in the air depending how the scans go.
@IVFaugust2018 Hope the clinic will accommodate. Year 6 is a big milestone!

Thund4rcat · 28/08/2018 12:41

@shakti18 I did 19 days of Suprecur/Buserelin before my baseline scan. Waiting for blood test results today for them to confirm but they said probably another week before I can start Gonal-F.

Shakti18 · 28/08/2018 12:47

Thanks @Thund4rcat. Was worried baseline scan was a bit late. Looks like Friday for my baseline scan is similar to you.

IVFaugust2018 · 28/08/2018 13:02

Hi @Shakti18 I didn't down reg, I'm on the short protocol so just started Menopur on day 2 of a natural cycle. I'm adding Cetrotide from tomorrow morning with the first scan and bloods Saturday which will be day 9 of my cycle and day 8 of stims. From Saturday have alternate day scans and bloods until they tell me to trigger.

Fingers crossed about the clinic understanding about the first day 🤞 my son has ASD so a change is stressful for him, don't want to add to his worries by not being there 😭

Thund4rcat · 28/08/2018 19:54

Update! The clinic called and said despite my slightly thick womb lining, because my blood test was fine, I should go ahead and start Gonal-F tonight! So egg collection now expected between 7th-14th Sept.

Am really pleased!

Hope everyone else is doing OK today.

IVFaugust2018 · 28/08/2018 20:17

@Thund4rcat that's great news, you'll get to the conference yet! Good luck with the stims 🍀

Thund4rcat · 28/08/2018 21:26

@IVFaugust2018 thanks, but I decided it was best to cancel the conference after all, because that will be my 2 week window or just after, and I don't need the stress then whatever happens! Feel terrible about letting people down.

Cariad2017 · 29/08/2018 12:21

CatRen - Any news on fertilisation rates? I shall be keeping everything crossed that it all goes swimmingly for you over the next five days.

Good luck for Saturday IVFAugust.

Thund4rcat - Glad to hear your oestrogen levels were low enough for you to start stimming.

snowfee · 29/08/2018 12:59

Had my day baseline scan today. Nurses were very happy with the level of inactivity going on so started stims when I got home.
I'm on 300iu bemfola for 5 days followed by 300iu menopur for 5 days. Day 10 scan is booked for 7th September.

Thund4rcat · 29/08/2018 13:29

@snowfee that's great! Similar timing to me then. Good luck growing some eggs.

snowfee · 29/08/2018 14:00

Thanks @Thund4rcat

Cariad2017 · 29/08/2018 17:58

Fabulous news SnowFee.

CatRen27 · 29/08/2018 23:31

Looks like lots of movement yesterday- great to get started you guys and hope the scans go well at the end of the week!

No update on my little embryos, they only update on days 1, 3 and 5 so I'm expecting a call this morning with an update. 😬 They started with 12 fertilized but were watching 3 so we can see 15 embryos on the app. So weird! I'm assuming numbers will have dropped by day 3 but hoping we still have half a dozen still in the running. I'll send an update when we hear!

CatRen27 · 30/08/2018 02:52

Hey ladies, update from me.

From the original 15 that were fertilized (12 plus the 3 they were watching), on day three we have:

  • 9 embryos on track (6-10 cells in each)
  • 6 embryos ahead of development (11-15 cells in each)

Apparently fast growing embryos are not great as they can lead to chromosomal abnormalities but at the moment they're not concerned. They embryologist obviously warned me that the numbers can drop steeply from now to day 5 so to be prepared for that, and that a result of 1-2 embryos ready to freeze is a really good one. Eek!

I'm pretty happy with those numbers so fingers crossed enough stay on track and make it to blastocyst!

snowfee · 30/08/2018 06:35

@CatRen27 that sounds like positive news. Interesting about the ones which developed abit too fast. Will keep fingers crossed for you.

Cariad2017 · 30/08/2018 08:09

That sounds really positive CatRen. I shall be keeping everything crossed that you get more good news on Saturday. Xx

IVFaugust2018 · 30/08/2018 08:39

Wow @CatRen27 that's fab news! You guys must be so pleased, fingers crossed your little guys all make it to the freezer 🤞

Thund4rcat · 30/08/2018 13:55

Wow @catren that is very exciting. Fingers crossed for day 5.

IVFaugust2018 · 30/08/2018 17:08

Had acupuncture today which was lovely and relaxing and just on the right day.

I've been feeling super tired and nauseous and my stomach is bloated so I keep having to remind myself that I'm not actually pregnant. why does the medication have to do this it feels cruel 😢

Going to try a meditation next to sort my head out I think!

CatRen27 · 31/08/2018 02:07

@Ivfaug i know what you mean, the bloating sucks huh. How was the acupuncture? I haven't thought to go back since starting treatment but found it really soothing so might consider it!

@langpants and @jenbot how are you guys doing?

Spoken to my fc today, she said the embryos are looking good but no way of doing a fresh transfer even though I'm feeling fine, as the transfer can lead to late ohss because of the increase in estrogen. Who knew! Should get af next week then we'll be good to go soon after that. Dh is planning an oyster, wine and soft cheese outing for us in case it's our last chance and the transfer works. And we'll be booking another one if it doesn't.. food is my life 😂😋

IVFaugust2018 · 31/08/2018 07:20

Hi @CatRen27 I started going to a fertility specialist acupuncturist in Feb as this was prior to us finding out that I was fine and my husband has a low count. I was convinced I wasn't ovulating properly as my cycles are irregular. She hasn't done a thing to regulate my cycles but I just feel happier to be doing something and I do feel more relaxed. Again, as I'm obsessive and struggle with not being in control, it could just be psychological that I'm doing something to help!

@CatRen27 did your stomach bruise with the Cetrotide? My stomach's sore and has a bruise from yesterday's dose, it looks awful!

Re having an all frozen cycle next time, it must be frustrating to have to wait that extra cycle especially when you've geared yourself up to it, but my clinic are part of a study into freeze all cycles as they're looking at whether there are better success rates for freeze all due to the body having more time to recover from the stimulation meds so it mimics a natural cycle more closely. You and your husband have definitely got the right idea and using it as a treat to each other for a night out is a lovely idea ❤️

CatRen27 · 31/08/2018 10:42

@ivf2018 yep i found cetrotide pretty uncomfortable to be honest. The needle wasn't as easy as the gonal f and it left more of a stingy itchy mark. It bruised more than gonal f too, but not too badly. I used a cold damp cloth though straight after and it eased it quite a bit. The decapeptyl trigger is the killer though - be warned! I had no idea it would be so sore, so definitely suggest paracetamol 30 minutes prior to having it. I wasn't really geared up for the fresh transfer to be honest, it was always going to be a frozen cycle but i had a glimmer of hope as I've been feeling so much better that they might change the plan. But no dice! When's your first scan?

IVFaugust2018 · 31/08/2018 11:22

@CatRen27 thanks for the tips, it's appreciated! First scan and bloods tomorrow, I guess I'll see what's going on in there finally - I'm excited I think

CatRen27 · 31/08/2018 11:27

@ivfaug ooh exciting! Best of luck, i hope they find a nice crop growing in there 🤞

@cariad how's it all going on your end?

Langpants · 31/08/2018 11:40

Hi @CatRen27 - all good here thanks. Lots of symptoms but not sure if that's hope mixed with ivf drugs. This waiting is torture!

My life is food too. Lol. Hungry allllll the time! X
