Hi there,

Anyone else doing IVF this month? I’ve had 2 weeks of Buserelin, and just started the oestrogen tablets today. I’ve never known time to go so slowly before. 😬😂

FET planned for end of August.

I’ve been a hormonal wreck. Got AF this weekend, plus all the extra hormones, and the other half doesn’t know what to do with me - or himself! Ha Ha.

Would be nice to connect with others going through IVF at the moment. x

@shaw oh no I'd be in a right state if i were you, stay strong!! What days post transfer will you be on Friday for your test?? I hope you've got lots of distractions until then. Sooo much luck to you!

@Snowfee i also had pains in my kidney area, i think it's just your body moving around to make room for your bulging ovaries! I was told to drink 3L of water every day and take paracetamol, i hope it calms down soon. Is your scan booked for tomorrow?

Shaw81 · 03/09/2018 13:57

CatRen27 it will be 13 days on Friday! Work have told me not to come back till after my test which is kind of them but I'm finding it hard to keep my mind occupied!

It's so hard to get the balance with the eggs....I only had 1 but then Snowfee has so many which again isn't always good! This whole process is so hard! But I'm sure we will all get our dream in the end! X

IVFaugust2018 · 03/09/2018 14:15

Yeah @CatRen27 done a bit of reading and it seems unlikely I'll be able to have a fresh transfer. I guess at least I've got a couple of days to process that, rather than finding out Wednesday and bawling at the team! Going to rest as much as possible, eat as much protein as I can with lucozade and hope for the best.

Good luck for the test @Shaw81 really hope it works for you 🤞

Hello Everyone,
I'm currently studying at London Southbank University and doing a dissertation on Fertility services in the UK. If anyone has the time to fill in my anonymous survey about their journey, I'd really appreciate it.
Many thanks in advance.

Hi @tzah

I have just completed your survey.

I have had my embryo transfer this morning, this is my first cycle. If you have any more questions I would be happy to help :)

tzah · 03/09/2018 16:25

Thank you so much @Sophieb13
Really appreciate it. Best of luck on your journey :)

snowfee · 03/09/2018 18:52

@CatRen27 My Day 10 scan is on Friday so a few days left to go before I find out how well things have been developing.

Cariad2017 · 03/09/2018 19:46

IVFAugust - I can’t believe how quickly you went from hardly any follicles to loads. Fingers crossed however that like CatRen this means that even if you can’t do a transfer this cycle, you’ll end up with loads of embryos in the freezer, so that you can avoid doing IVF again.

Shaw - Hang on in there my lovely. I’m also dreading the (2ww) if I get there. If it’s any consolation, I don’t recall definitive symptoms early on with any of my pregnancies, and particularly if you’re on progesterone I think it’s impossible to tell.

Cariad2017 · 03/09/2018 19:48

Good luck for Friday’s scan SnowFee. I hope it all goes swimmingly. Xxx

IVFaugust2018 · 04/09/2018 08:33

Good luck with the egg collection today @Cariad2017 🍀🤞

CatRen27 · 04/09/2018 09:12

Best of luck @cariad, really hope you get a good crop 🤞🤞

Cariad2017 · 04/09/2018 09:25

Thank you IVFAugust and CatRen. I’ll need it. Currently sat in my very sexy hospital gown waiting to go down to theatre. I shall keep you posted.

Cariad2017 · 04/09/2018 12:01

All done. 7 eggs retrieved, which isn’t brilliant but with only 10 follicles identified on the scan, was probably as good as I thought it would get. Dr has suggested that if we do IVF again, she would suggest a different trigger injection, just because quite a lot of the follicles were empty and she things this could well be because I didn’t respond brilliantly to the Ovitrelle.

Hopefully this doesn’t bode badly for fertilisation rates etc. which we’ll find out tomorrow.

Cariad2017 · 04/09/2018 12:02

Thinks not things.

CatRen27 · 04/09/2018 12:35

Hello Ladies,

We have just started our IVF journey also after 4 long years of TTC with PCOS, started short protocol injections last Monday 27th August 150 Menopur.
Had first scan on Monday, it showed I have 18 follicles ranging 8-12mm. I asked the nurse what it meant and she just replied "its all normal" but you know when you need to know more ;)

They took some blood to check my oestrogen levels which came back as 2500?? From that result they decided to keep me on Menopur at 150.
My lining was 9.5mm

Next scan tomorrow to see what’s going on with those follicles!!!

I am trying to stay positive, after all we have been through we all could do with some positive news to reach our dreams of becoming mums.

IVFaugust2018 · 04/09/2018 16:19

Hi @PostiveThinkingRainbow I'm having my eggs collected tomorrow and was on the short protocol too, no issues with me but MFI. Started Saturday 25th so very similar timing.

I was also on Menopur 150mg until day 8 when they checked my oestrogen and it was 10,000 but they thought I only had 3 follicles of a decent size with possibly 2 more that would catch up. Dropped the Menopur to 112.5 and Scan and bloods yesterday showed too many follicles to count and oestrogen upto 21,000! So triggered last night and told they'll make the decision if I can have a fresh transfer tomorrow depending on how many eggs there actually are as I'm likely to have OHSS. Pretty gutted to say the least and not sure what happened from day 8-10! I felt poorly though, very nauseous and tired with a bloated stomach so the signs were all there. Last night I felt so ill, so very relieved to not take any more Menopur this morning and feel much better today for it.

Good luck tomorrow for your scan and hope you have a decent amount of follicles at a good size 🍀🤞

IVFaugust2018 · 04/09/2018 16:22

@Cariad2017 glad they got 7 out for you and really hope you have a good fertilisation rate 🤞 I've also heard that fewer than 10 eggs usually means that they're a better quality and ultimately we're all after the one that gives us the baby. Be kind to yourselves tonight and we'll all be crossing our fingers that you have good embryos in the end xx

PostiveThinkingRainbow · 05/09/2018 08:38

@IVFaugust2018 Oh bless you, so sorry to hear the meds have had that affect on you. The whole thing is such an emotional roller coaster and you have NO CONTROL! When you have never done IVF before you just do not know how you will react to the meds at all.

So far I have felt fine but have woken up this morning with what I would describe as mild period pains, my scans at 11am so it will interesting to see what they say is going on with me today.
I find it really hard to juggle appointments with work as I do not wish them to know.
I hope you get some good news on your follicles today, let me know how you get on xxx

Cariad2017 · 05/09/2018 09:04

Good luck with egg collection today IVFAugust and with your scan Positive.

Just got a call from the embryologist and 6 out of 7 eggs fertilised via ICSI, so we’re still in the game at the moment.

They’ve given me a provisional time for a day 3 transfer on Friday, but are hopeful that we will have enough normal looking embryos at that stage to do a day 5 transfer on Sunday instead... I’m guessing time will tell..

PostiveThinkingRainbow · 05/09/2018 09:42

@Cariad2017 Oh wow that is great news!!! Such an exciting and stressful time all rolled in to one I wold imagen, keeping everything crossed they keep on growing beautifully!!!
How are you managing your time, it must be so hard at this stage to think of anything else!?!
What are you doing about work etc? xxx
