August IVF

Hi there,

Anyone else doing IVF this month? I’ve had 2 weeks of Buserelin, and just started the oestrogen tablets today. I’ve never known time to go so slowly before. 😬😂

FET planned for end of August.

I’ve been a hormonal wreck. Got AF this weekend, plus all the extra hormones, and the other half doesn’t know what to do with me - or himself! Ha Ha.

Would be nice to connect with others going through IVF at the moment. x

Egg collection complete, 18 eggs were collected which I'm pretty happy about. Apparently I complained of pain so they knocked me out, so feeling a little weird! We'll hear how the fertilisation goes tomorrow so 🤞 we get lots of embryos too.

Good luck everyone xx

Langpants · 27/08/2018 07:58

Wow - well done @CatRen27! That’s great. Something went wrong on mine and I started bleeding, so I only got 8. They say around 75% get fertilised, but all of my 8 were. I’ll be thinking of you today. Let us know how you get on! x

Thanks @langpants I'm really hoping we get a good result from fertilisation. Did you get calls every day with an update? I bet you're desperate to test! I heard that you can get lines 4dp5dt but I'm a poas addict so i shouldn't be a bad influence..!

IVFaugust2018 · 27/08/2018 08:29

That's amazing news @CatRen27 fingers crossed that they all fertilise 🤞Did you have any symptoms of OHSS before the scan where it showed the bumper crop of follicles? Xx

Langpants · 27/08/2018 08:40

Ha Ha Ha! @CatRen27. I expect I’ll test on Weds which is 5dp5dt. I have a pack of internet cheapies arriving tomorrow. 😜
I did get calls every day. They should keep you in the loop. Fingers crossed you get lots! Xx

CatRen - 18 is amazing so well done. I hope you manage to get plenty of rest today. I shall be keeping everything crossed that you get good news on the fertilisation front tomorrow.

Good luck to all those in the 2ww. You’re definitely all on the home strait.

Jenbot78 · 27/08/2018 09:54

Catren good number of eggs! Good luck for the next few days. Langpants my transfer was on Thursday so I am 4 days past transfer. I think you count the day after as day 1. Found this which is helpful...

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.conceptfertility.co.uk/2017/05/31/what-happens-after-an-embryo-transfer/amp/

This info highlights how the hormone that is released into your body only kicks in around 5 days past transfer so is quite likely you might get a negative...

I won’t test until 10 DPT which is when I got a strong positive with DD. I can’t cope with the false hope or false disappointment either. Are you experiencing symptoms? Driving myself round the bend!

Langpants · 27/08/2018 16:16

Ooh - this is helpful. Thanks Jenbot78. I only have one working nipple after the mastectomy and reconstruction, but my nipple is very very sensitive. It’s never this sensitive from my period. Extreme tiredness is another one. The hormones have been making me tired, but at the moment, I’m happiest in bed snoozing. Also very emotional the last 2 days! What about you?

OP posts:
Langpants · 27/08/2018 16:18

@Jenbot78 - also been shivery cold the last 2 days. Just can’t get warm! In bed at the moment under the duvet and have socks on and still feeling cold! X

Well for me very bloated and today lots of period type cramps which have unnerved me and unsettled me a great deal. I know it is hard to know what means what though!

Langpants · 27/08/2018 21:33

@Jenbot78 - when I was in bed this afternoon (cheeky nap), I felt what felt like some light period cramping. I’ve read that bloating is a good sign! I’m pretty bloated but that might have something to do with the big roast dinner I had earlier! He he! X

My update - from 18 eggs, 12 have fertilized normally and they're still watching another 3.

I'm too nervous to actually say I'm happy about it, I feel like something is going to go wrong now as there has been a lot of good news so far.. eek

Langpants · 28/08/2018 06:08

@CatRen27 - that’s great news! Stay positive. The fertility gods are on your side. Are they growing them to day 5? And I take it you’re having a fresh cycle? X

Cariad2017 · 28/08/2018 06:18

That’s fabulous news CatRen. Here’s hoping lots of them make it to day 5. Xxx

CatRen27 · 28/08/2018 07:57

@langpants yep they're growing them until day 5. I'm doing an all frozen cycle as they were worried about ohss so will wait a month before the transfer. Feeling a bit bloated and sore still but hopefully will be right as rain by tomorrow. One day before testing, how are you feeling?? I can't imagine the tww during this process, it must be so hard!!

CatRen27 · 28/08/2018 08:00

@ivfaugust no symptoms of ohss, just loads of follicles and sky high estrogen levels. I also had quite a lot of pain in what felt like my cervix the day before my trigger, which was really weird, but the nurse didn't seem to know what that was. I'm feeling back to normal now after bringing all my hormones down so hopefully in the clear. Is it something you're worried about? Remind me what stage you're at?

@cariad thanks lovely, have you had your second scan yet? Fx it went well xx

IVFaugust2018 · 28/08/2018 08:13

That's such great news @CatRen27! I think I'm overthinking things but started stims on Saturday and have been feeling nauseous in the afternoon, had a headache most days and have been getting lots of shooting pains in my stomach. Scan and bloods booked in for Saturday so will just see how I go till then and try and keep myself busy to stop overthinking this 😂

@Langpants and @Jenbot78 hope these next few days pass quickly for you xx

Cariad2017 · 28/08/2018 08:29

Day 10 of stims. At the scan this morning, they measured 10 follicles and spotted a few other potentials, so whilst not brilliant, it’s not terrible either. Still waiting for blood test results, but at this rate, collection is likely to be either Saturday or Monday...

CatRen27 · 28/08/2018 09:50

@cariad 10 follicles isn't bad is it? You should get quite a few from that surely. Fingers crossed they grow nicely and you don't have too many more days of stims. Sorry you're not feeling overjoyed by the results, sending positive vibes your way

@ivf2018 i felt similarly - headaches and nauseous, think that's pretty normal. Ohss happens a few days after egg retrieval, but your blood results will tell if you're at risk. Hopefully not though!!

Cariad2017 · 28/08/2018 10:16

CatRen - 10 isn’t bad, it’s just that as my AMH (17.8) and antral follicle count (20ish) were quite good, they were hopeful that I’d get a lot more. I’ve also been on a fairly low dosage of stims, which they haven’t upped.

I guess that a first round of IVF is always going to be hit and miss, and at least we know now for next time what hasn’t worked particularly well.

melissa1215 · 28/08/2018 10:29

I'm finally at the FET stage, we have our transfer on the 31st of August.. long awaited and very nervous

Thund4rcat · 28/08/2018 11:37

Just had my baseline scan and they said my womb lining was not thin enough yet (5.7 and they want 5) so I have to continue Buserelin injections a bit longer before I can start stims.

Interestingly they said I have 14 follicles and I have not started stims yet, which they said is normal but I had no idea I would have lots of follicles without stims!

So delaying things a week means I have to cancel my attendance at a week long conference I was meant to be speaking at from the 21st September and I feel really guilty because I was elected to go to it back in July, before I had any treatment dates, and nobody else is allowed to go in my place :(

Thund4rcat · 28/08/2018 11:37

Forgot to say, I had a trial embryo transfer today too, which went smoothly and did not hurt, in case anyone needs reassuring about that step!

IVFaugust2018 · 28/08/2018 11:57

Hi @Thund4rcat sorry to hear this, it's so hard not letting all of this affect normal life! Think I'm going to miss my son's first day back to school next Wednesday, as I'll have a scan and bloods that morning as they're alternate days. He's going into year 6 and I've never missed a first day, just hoping I can come to an agreement with the clinic closer to the time to avoid missing it.

Cariad2017 · 28/08/2018 12:26

Amazing news Melissa. I am so happy for you! Yay for ovulation! 😍😍

Thund4Cat - you have my sympathies on the non-perfect baseline scan front (they found a cyst on mine which was spewing oestrogen everywhere, cue an extra 10 days of down-regging...) When counting follicles, what they’re likely to be looking at is your antral follicle count. This is the number of potential follicles that can be stimulated, and can be an indicator of ovarian reserve (i.e. the more you have, the higher your reserve), but I’d try not to fixate too much on this in the context of this IVF cycle.
