August IVF

Hi there,

Anyone else doing IVF this month? I’ve had 2 weeks of Buserelin, and just started the oestrogen tablets today. I’ve never known time to go so slowly before. 😬😂

FET planned for end of August.

I’ve been a hormonal wreck. Got AF this weekend, plus all the extra hormones, and the other half doesn’t know what to do with me - or himself! Ha Ha.

Would be nice to connect with others going through IVF at the moment. x

That's meant to be stimulation meds jeezoo come on autocorrect 😂

CatRen27 · 25/08/2018 01:27

Hey @cariad, hope all goes well on Monday, i haven't loved two scans in two days, that wand isn't the most comfortable thing. Hopefully the follicles will do their thing and look better on Monday.

Welcome @iceice! Sounds like you've had a pretty good run so far, 5 eggs and 5 fertilized isnt bad! My friend only had 1 collected and now has a 3yo to show for it so it's true you let need 1.

I've had another scan and bloods this morning (in the city before 7am was a bit of a shock) and my 43 (😫) follicles are between 10 and 18 mm so still looking like my ec will be Monday. I'll find out soon which trigger shot I'll need to go and pick up later today. @iceice did you have any side effects to the trigger?

CatRen27 · 25/08/2018 01:30

@crazyeyes oh no! I've been injecting in the fatty bit on my tummy under my belly button, have you tried that? I've not bruised much at all but i think I've somehow managed to miss my blood vessels somehow. Certainly not by any skill! I'm ok with needles but hate having blood taken, i find it hurts more.

CatRen27 · 25/08/2018 04:30

Right, looks like I'm going straight to frozen as my estrogen levels are at 19000 (risky starts at 15k.. eekk) and they're a bit worried about hyper stimulation. Trigger today, ec on Monday and then we'll do a natural cycle next month. Not too disappointed in the delay as I'm more concerned about doing it properly rather than getting sick and ruining everything!

Cariad2017 · 25/08/2018 08:13

CatRen - good luck with the trigger. That plan sounds eminently sensible. A delay of a month is nothing if it significantly improves your chances of a sticky BFP. Hopefully you’ll get a really good crop of eggs on Monday, with plenty that can be frozen as back up as well.

I’ve been doing some more Googling and it sounds as though I’m falling into the “slow responder” category. The sonographer didn’t seem surprised given the whole down regging debacle, which ultimately took 3 weeks, but I’m now beginning to question whether it was really silly to press ahead this cycle (particularly as I still have my pesky cyst)... Hmmmm... Only time will tell I guess.

I’ve said it once, but I’ll say it again: good luck with your transfers today Shaw and IceIce. I have everything crossed for you. 🍀🤞🍀🤞🍀🤞

IVFaugust2018 · 25/08/2018 11:48

Best of luck @Shaw81 @IceIceMaybeBaby with the transfers today 🤞

Yesterday my period finally showed up, and this morning I got the call from the clinic to start the injections! So have just had my first Menopur, didn't even feel it go in 😂 it definitely did though if the stinging afterwards is anything to go by!

First scan and bloods booked for the 1st - I'm so excited now that it's finally started

Shaw81 · 25/08/2018 11:54

Hi all
Thanks so much for the good luck messages!

So we got there at 9.20 to be told that our 1 embyro looks "beautiful" had Eric the embryo put back in, it was amazing!! Saw it on a big screen and dh was there holding my hand!
They said that it had developed into 8 which usually happened by the end of the day so it's already advanced!
So excited!!!

Just shows it does only take 1!
Really hope you all go on ok!

IVFaugust2018, I found the injections ok and at least it means your on your way now!! Exciting times!!

Cariad2017 · 25/08/2018 12:31

Enormous congratulations Shaw. That’s fabulous news. Wishing you and Eric the embryo loads of luck. 🍀🍀🍀🍀 Have you been given a test date yet?

I’m so glad it’s finally happening for you IVFAugust. I hope it all goes swimmingly between now and your first scan next Saturday.

IVFaugust2018 · 25/08/2018 14:00

That's amazing news @Shaw81 best of luck to you and Eric!

@Cariad2017 thanks 🙏 really hope you are taking your time to grow the best eggs possible 🍀 here's hoping for Tuesday anyway! X

Thund4rcat · 25/08/2018 15:42

Just popping on to say I hope your transfer went well today @iceiceMaybeBaby and congratulations on getting Eric the embryo transferred @Shaw81.

Good luck to everyone else (I am losing track of who is at what stage!)

Cariad2017 · 25/08/2018 21:11

How did it go today IceIce. Thinking of you. Xxx

Langpants · 25/08/2018 22:38

Hi all! Apologies - am OP and then fell off the face of the earth.
How is everyone doing? @IVFaugust2018 - great to read your news. And @Shaw81 - congratulations! I had my embryo transfer on Friday so we are in the same boat now. How are you feeling? x

Hi @Langpants that's fab news! How did it go and how are you feeling today? Xx

Cariad2017 · 25/08/2018 23:04

Amazing news LangPants. I shall be keeping everything crossed that this is IT for you. Do you have a test date?

Langpants · 25/08/2018 23:09

@IVFaugust2018 - it went really well thanks. So quick. I’ve been floating on a cloud. So happy. Just hope he/she sticks around.

@Cariad2017 - hello and thank you. :) My official test date is 7 Sept. I don’t think I’m going to be able to wait that long! My transfer was a FET 5day blastocyst. Been reading that people get a BFP as early as 5-7 days post transfer! 😈

CatRen27 · 26/08/2018 02:25

Wow great news @langpants and @shaw! How did it go @iceice? Big question, how to not go crazy in this tww! Poas at 5dp5dt i guess 😂 I'd definitely do that. Ladies have you frozen any? How was the 'embryo watch' 5 days? I can't imagine having my little guys developing outside my body.. sooo strange and nerve wracking!

I've just had my last two triggers so getting ready for egg collection tomorrow. Shit the decapeptyl hurt! I wish someone had warned me. Last jabs hopefully all done so fx things go well tomorrow. We'll watch them for the next 5 days and freeze on Saturday. Did you all do genetic testing? What informed your decision (either way)? I haven't suffered miscarriage before and we have a healthy daughter and no chromosomal issues in our family history. So is it necessary?

Langpants · 26/08/2018 07:55

Ah - @IceIceMaybeBaby had a transfer too! Sorry, only just properly read that. Yay us!
@CatRen27, I had 8 frozen at day 2. They thawed them all out to grow to day 5. All of them survived, however they were all very slow with their development. I only had one that was ready for my FET transfer on Friday. They’re going to write to me and let me know how many they were (if any) able to refreeze on day 6 yesterday. I hope there’s at least a couple! I’ll be very sad if they destroy them all. :(
I didn’t do any testing on them, but I had gene testing myself after breast cancer and I don’t have the BRCA gene, so at least I’m not passing that to them.
I wouldn’t have thought genetic testing is necessary unless you have a history of genetic abnormalities (which it sounds like you don’t).
Good luck! Xx

Hi, Cariad2017 my test day is the same as Langpants on the 7th September but like her it's going to be so hard waiting for that date!!
I've been smiling from ear to ear since and just still can't quite believe it!
I only had 1 egg collected so there were none to freeze.
They told me to just carry on as normal but make sure I rest when I'm tired and obviously no lifting ect.

Hope your all doing ok!

Cariad2017 · 26/08/2018 10:12

CatRen. - that’s an interesting query re: PGS. I was under the impression that because of the time it takes, it’s likely to only work with frozen cycles (as there wouldn’t be time for them to carry out the test and get the results during a fresh cycle but will check with my clinic).

My history would probably suggest that it’s a good idea (I’m 36; I suffered a cp followed by a ruptured ectopic at 32 (both naturally conceived) which we’ve since been told could be down to issues with sperm fragmentation. We know that DH’s sperm doesn’t have brilliant DNA). The test is costly though...

My gut is that we might roll the dice and try and do a fresh cycle this time round (not least as my clinic’s live pregnancy results are much higher from fresh cycles than from frozen), but if we end up with any in the freezer, we may well resort to PGS next time.

Keep me posted as to what you decide.

Langpants · 26/08/2018 10:54

Eek @Shaw81 - so exciting! I feel happy too. But so so tired! Dreading going back to work on Tues and getting up at 5.45am! x

CatRen27 · 26/08/2018 10:55

Thanks ladies for your thoughts on genetic testing. You're right @cariad they only do it for the frozen ones so if you do a fresh transfer it will only be the best quality at the time not based on gen testing, but they can test any others that you freeze.

I guess I'm concerned that it's so expensive (~£400 per embryo) and not necessary. Our clinic has much better success rates from frozen, but that's with testing, and it's the same rate without testing so I'm not concerned about a freeze all cycle from that perspective.

Wishing everyone the best of luck, i can't wait to hear how you all get on over the next few weeks!

Cariad2017 · 26/08/2018 13:43

Good luck Shaw and Langpants - I shall be rooting for your both come early September.

Good luck for egg collection tomorrow CatRen. Do let us know how it goes. I really hope you end up with a big crop. Xxx

Jenbot78 · 26/08/2018 15:39

Hi all, I too fell off this thread. I haven't really had the chance to go back and read everyone's progress, sorry about this! I hope all those at each stage are hanging in there are not going too crazy. Congrats all on those getting started on the injections, and others who are waiting for embryo results you guys too.

I am currently 3 days past 5 day transfer and frankly I'm going nuts. It is SO hard not to analyse every single thing that is going on in my body. Currently feeling a little bloated but nothing other than that. Langpants looks like we are nearly at the same stage, how are you feeling? Hang in there everyone!

Langpants · 26/08/2018 22:19

Thanks so much Cariad2017! Xxx

@Jenbot78 - I think we are indeed. Do you count transfer day as day 1 or the day after? I really want to test already. Been doing soooo much reading about how early you can test. Seems people test as early as 4-5 days post 5 day transfer! I’d hate to test early and be disappointed with a negative... 😬xx
