Hi there,

Anyone else doing IVF this month? I’ve had 2 weeks of Buserelin, and just started the oestrogen tablets today. I’ve never known time to go so slowly before. 😬😂

FET planned for end of August.

I’ve been a hormonal wreck. Got AF this weekend, plus all the extra hormones, and the other half doesn’t know what to do with me - or himself! Ha Ha.

Would be nice to connect with others going through IVF at the moment. x

Just had my day 9 of stims scan. Got 17 follicles with one front-runner so they are probably going to forego that one to let the others have more of a chance. Just had bloods and find out later if I will do egg collection Friday or Monday/Tuesday. They didn't seem too worried about OHSS just told me to drink lots of water. It's all very exciting!

Thund4rcat · 05/09/2018 11:47

@cariad2017 that is a great fertilisation rate, congratulations.

IVFaugust2018 · 05/09/2018 13:00

Out of theatre, embryologist has given us the amazing news that they've collected 12 eggs so it seems the meds change did the trick and we've avoided hyperstimulation! I'm back on track for a fresh transfer either Saturday or Monday depending on how many fertilise and what they look like 😁

Such a rollercoaster but for the moment we're happy with how today has gone!

Cariad2017 · 05/09/2018 13:08

Thund4rcat - That’s a great crop and sounds very promising - well done.

IVFAugust - 12 is a fabulous number. Exciting news that you’re back on track for a transfer later this week/ early next week. Remind me, are you doing IVF or ICSI?

Positive - I’m back at work today. My plan had been to take the day of transfer off and then any working days beyond that up to the equivalent of 10dpo off, just so that I was sufficiently rested. As it turns out though, I’m actually going on holiday for a fortnight after Friday in any event, so my time off work will be minimal. What are your plans in this regard?

IVFaugust2018 · 05/09/2018 13:49

@Cariad2017 to have 6 out of the 7 fertilise is great news! The embryologist today said they expect about 70% with ICSI due to the process causing potentially more damage to the eggs - were also having ICSI and will find out how many make it tomorrow 🤞

@Thund4rcat that's an amazing number of follicles, eat as much protein as you can to get them all to a decent size too was the advice I was given. Sick of eating meat and eggs now though 😂

@PostiveThinkingRainbow hope your scan went well. I'm now off sick from work unfortunately due to how ill I ended up from Sunday, but will stay off until after the transfer now in order to rest as much as I can and give myself the best chance of recovering from how high my oestrogen got. The risk of OHSS remains and I don't want to feel that ill again if I can help it!

Thund4rcat · 05/09/2018 13:59

@IVFAugust2018 wow, 12 eggs! That is great. Good luck with fertilisation. It is all happening now eh?

PostiveThinkingRainbow · 05/09/2018 15:55

Hi Ladies,
Back from my second scan.
My lining is now 11mm
Follicles have got a little bigger I'm now ranging from 10mm to 15mm, they have put my Menopur down to 75 from 150 because my oestrogen blood test came back as 7500 so they don't want to risk me over stimulating. Not sure how I feel about that🤔
Apparently they are looking for at least a 2 to 3 follicles at 18mm before you do the trigger shot.
Going for another scan on Friday to see if they have grown enough.
Potential egg collection on Monday or Wednesday next week.
So not sure what to book off work😩

IVFaugust2018 · 05/09/2018 16:25

Hi @PostiveThinkingRainbow trust them to do what's best, my oestrogen was 10,000 Saturday and I felt a bit ropey, by Monday it was 21,000 and I felt truly awful. I triggered Monday night so had no more Menopur and have felt better each day since. I REALLY hope I never have to take Menopur again 😂

It's a struggle knowing what to book off isn't it! We're going back with Saturday or Monday for transfer so have just told my husband to book Monday off anyway and he ca always cancel the leave if it's already happened 🤞 you get some good growth without the oestrogen going any higher

PostiveThinkingRainbow · 05/09/2018 18:10

@ivfaugust2018 thank you for the info, it's so interesting how we all react to the meds. The blimin PCOS makes it all the more tricky also.
So we are both up in the air for our egg collections, it feels like you have to put your life on hold as you just don't know when things are going to happen.
I'm thinking of booking Mon and Wed off just in case, trouble is then you don't know when your going to be going in hopefully for the egg transfer.
Trouble is if I booked the whole week off I would go mad having too much time to think if that makes sense

CatRen27 · 06/09/2018 00:01

Omg guys this is all amazing news! @cariad - go you guys! 6/7 is so brilliant. Fingers crossed things keep going early well as they develop to the 5 day transfer.

@ivfaugust, great news that you're back on track for a fresh transfer! Soooooo exciting. It's all happening!

@Thund4r wowee 17 follicles is a great number, and thankfully no over stimulation. Brilliant.

CatRen27 · 06/09/2018 00:10

Hello @positive! Sounds like you're on the right track, it's hard to book your time with the last minute nature of the treatment huh. All the monitoring at my clinic takes place 7-9am so as not to interrupt the working day which is helpful, but then the day of surgery is a bit different huh. Are you telling work what you're up to? They might be happier with being flexible if they understand why? Depends on your team i guess. I freelance so my work from last week is all delayed 😫 and im trying to get this done while with my 3yo. Not easy! She's in childcare today though thank goodness.

Anyway I really hope the good news keeps flowing.

I've got my first blood test on Monday (cd10) to track my cycle and estimate ovulation, and I'm really hoping it comes late enough for the screening results to be back. I can't bear to wait another month for transfer so need to get my head around that. I've got it in my head that we'll be pregnant before Christmas. Probably need to rein that in. Argh!

IVFaugust2018 · 06/09/2018 09:25

Just had the call from the embryologist, all 12 were mature enough for ICSI and overnight 9 have fertilised! Next call will be on day 3, Saturday to either tell us to come in for transfer or to tell us they're leaving it until they get to blastocyst Monday.

Just got to calm down and try and manage my expectations as it only makes it more difficult if the next stage is bad news 😱

snowfee · 06/09/2018 10:54

Awww it's so nice to hear (see) everyone's good news as you all get to the next stage! Fills me with positive vibes.

PostiveThinkingRainbow · 06/09/2018 12:28

@IVFaugust2018 thats great news, 9 is an amazing number!!! The suspense in this game is unreal at every stage!!! keeping everything crossed for all of them, are you hoping to freeze some?

@CatRen27 I work in a really small office and I want to keep things private for now so I just have to keep making up last min excuses.

CatRen27 · 06/09/2018 12:46

Yay @ivfaug that's a great number! Keeping fingers and toes crossed that they'll keep developing well. Every little milestone gets you that much closer!

My update is that the fc isn't too worried about timings and thinks my results will be back in time for a transfer this cycle. Phew! Perhaps they give the 2-3 week window for the screening just to be on the safe side. So maybe next week some time we'll do the transfer. Getting my hopes up royally now!

@positive that sounds really tricky, poor you! Hope you manage to keep them guessing for a little bit longer.

Thund4rcat · 06/09/2018 13:38

@IVFAugust2018 that is loads! Wow. How exciting!

Thund4rcat · 06/09/2018 13:59

Random symptom - has anyone noticed their hair falling out? Not like bald patches just lots of it coming out when you run your hands through it, particularly after washing.... Is this hormones??

sophieb13 · 06/09/2018 14:12

@Thund4rcat I had a lot of hair loss whilst on menopause and do have a couple of bald patches it's pretty much stopped now I'm off them

sophieb13 · 06/09/2018 14:15

Menopur ** all though I did feel like I was in the menopause haha

IVFaugust2018 · 06/09/2018 16:28

Hi @PostiveThinkingRainbow yes, I really hope we end up with some to freeze 🤞 just praying the little guys do okay over the next few days 🙏 @Cariad2017 sending positive vibes to your guys too, hopefully you get good news from the embryologist tomorrow when they call

@CatRen27 that's great news that the screen will be done for this month's transfer

@Shaw81 thinking of you tomorrow 🍀🤞how are you feeling?

@snowfee also good luck for your scan tomorrow, hope you've got some lovely follicles getting ready

IVFaugust2018 · 06/09/2018 16:30

@Thund4rcat I didn't notice any more than usual of my hair coming out but I lose an awful lot normally - hair loss is often hormonal, think that's why usually pregnant women's hair is thick cause they don't lose it and postpartum it thins as it all gets lost in a few weeks? That could be an old wives tale though 😂

Cariad2017 · 06/09/2018 18:03

IVFAugust - Amazing news on the fertilisation rates - 9 is a fabulous number at this stage. I shall be keeping everything crossed that you get good news on Saturday.

CatRen - I’m so pleased to hear that you’ll be ready to roll this cycle - not long to go now. You must be very excited!!

Good luck to those who have scans tomorrow - SnowFee and Positive

Shaw and Langpants - I shall be keeping everything crossed for tomorrow’s POAS party. 🍀

Cariad2017 · 06/09/2018 18:06

Thund4rCat - No experience of hair loss at this end but I was on different medication (I think) - Fostimon and Buserelin. Not sure if I missed an update from you, but have you been told when egg collection will be taking place?

Thund4rcat · 06/09/2018 20:07

@cariad2017 ah I am on Buserelin and Gonal-f. Egg collection Monday or Tuesday depending on how tomorrow's scan goes...

CatRen27 · 06/09/2018 22:44

@ivfaug and @thund4rcat i didn't take those meds nor did i have hair loss, but its definitely not a wives tail about pregnancy - i had luscious locks for 9 months when promptly fell out straight after dd was born. Nothing like feeling like shit post partum and losing your hair to boot! Definitely hormonal. Sorry to hear you're losing bits though @thunder, hope it all stops when the jabs finish!
