BFP after IVF: any other nervous ladies in need of a handhold?

I've had my BFP after our first FET and in a bit of a state analysing symptoms/lack of symptoms. Had two losses prior to starting IVF so really can't get my head round what might be normal or not. Clinic will scan me at six weeks, but that is two very long weeks away! Anyone else in a similar position? xxx

@Beherenow32
Thanks! Mine isn't until 1500 just incase you wonder where i am tomorrow 😊

ginandtonicformeplease · 07/08/2018 13:33

Thanks for your good wishes @TheArtfulScreamer @Itonlytakesone @Beherenow32 It seems that everything is ok! Grown nicely since last week, about what they'd expect to see - the dr said that the measurements are what she'd expect for 7w3d, and I'm 7w6d so definitely within the margin of error. All that worrying and panicking and everything's ok

@Itonlytakesone Good luck for your scan tomorrow, the waiting will soon be over!

Itonlytakesone · 07/08/2018 13:45

@ginandtonicformeplease

Fingers crossed 🤞🏻 i get some good news too it's so nerve racking having to wait this long...and i had two embryos put back in as well Hmm

TheArtfulScreamer · 07/08/2018 14:09

@ginandtonic pleased it went well just the next few weeks to get through until the scanxiety of the 12 week Grin
@itonlytakes I'll be keeping an eye out for your update tomorrow, good luck x

Beherenow32 · 07/08/2018 14:59

@ginandtonicformeplease brilliant news!!

Yorkshirelass27 · 08/08/2018 10:08

Unfortunately I'm going to have to leave this thread. I went for my 12 week scan on Thursday and our baby had passed away at 8.3 weeks- a missed miscarriage. Had surgery on Monday.
I truly wish you all the very best with your pregnancies x

Beherenow32 · 08/08/2018 10:27

@Yorkshirelass27 oh no I’m so sorry! It’s terrifying that this can happen! Take care xx

ginandtonicformeplease · 08/08/2018 15:00

@Yorkshirelass27 I'm so sorry for you, that's devastating news Thanks

Itonlytakesone · 08/08/2018 17:00

I'm so sorry for your bad news @Yorkshirelass27 it's such a cruel process sometimes but you will get there it really does only take one.

I have had my 8 week scan and all is good. A strong heartbeat and just the one baby growing! We are thrilled 😊

TheArtfulScreamer · 08/08/2018 17:29

Aww Yorkshirelass from a fellow Yorkshire lass you have my greatest sympathy Flowers

Good news on your scan itonlytakes x

Beherenow32 · 08/08/2018 18:23

@Itonlytakesone lovely news. Hope you’re feeling relaxed then 😙 xx

ginandtonicformeplease · 08/08/2018 19:29

@Itonlytakesone Great news! So happy for you.

I've got my booking in appt with the midwife next Tuesday. Now just got that to be nervous about!

Beherenow32 · 08/08/2018 19:34

@ginandtonicformeplease I had mine on Monday. They just asked lots and lots of questions!! Took some blood tests, and a urine sample. You get some nice books to take away.

How’s everyone feeling? So tired tonight, but not as sick today. Which of course makes me panic. So annoying winding myself up! lol xx

My midwife booking in appointment is at the end of next week. I'm so glad yesterday's scan went well, I feel i must be doing something right.

I asked about the cramping i had and whether it could have been my body dissolving the other embryo and she said it could have been, Iv not had cramping since just on that one day really. Your body is so clever. Pain on my left side is definitely from my ovary still calming down from ivf (it did most of the work!) so I'm more relaxed now Smile

Beherenow32 · 09/08/2018 12:26

@Itonlytakesone the first scan is an amazing moment! Definitely sounds like you’re doing things right! I’m so glad that I have a scan for next week. I will be nervous before though!
Time is going so quick. I’m 9 weeks tomorrow 😯 20 days until my 12 week scan xx

ginandtonicformeplease · 09/08/2018 13:57

I'm feeling fine - I get a bit of nausea in the morning and have gone right off my decaf coffee (the smell makes me feel sick now) but by the time I get to work I'm ready to wolf down a massive bagel smothered in peanut butter!

I had acupuncture again yesterday and she was really surprised that the nausea is he only symptom I've got. My boobs are much bigger but they grew overnight when I started the progynova and haven't changed since. My mum didn't have any morning sickness with either of us so I'm hoping I just take after her in that respect.

@Beherenow32 Are you having another scan before your 12 week one? I'm really tempted to have one, especially as sometimes the 12 week scan isn't until around 14 weeks. I also have a higher risk of something being wrong with the baby due to all my medication, and it just reassured me if everything is going along normally.

beanhunter · 09/08/2018 14:12

Cautious hello.
3 mc and 4 ivf cycles later I find myself here again. 4+1 today and terrieif. No excitement just pure fear. Scan booked for 6+2 and consultant appt in recurrent mc clinic for 8 weeks as she’s away until then.

Beherenow32 · 09/08/2018 15:44

@ginandtonicformeplease yeah, I booked a private scan. I will be 9.4 weeks. Was just out of excitement, but it will help my nerves now! Back to feeling sick today. So, just trying to go with the flow. I’m really struggling at work tho. So busy! ☹️

@beanhunter hello! Wishing you lots of positive thoughts! Hope it doesn’t drag from now until your scan

Xx

Itonlytakesone · 09/08/2018 17:05

@beanhunter
Hello, welcome ah well we know how you feel with the constant worry i really hope everything goes well for you🤞🏻

Iv got another scan booked too as part of the Nipt test going at 11weeks. Really the 12 week one can be at 14? Oh right i didn't know thatConfused

Is anyone asking about the Group B Strep test you can get? I saw it on this morning the other day and it definitely sounds worth it I'll have to ask midwife about it at my appointment.

gingergnome · 09/08/2018 17:47

Encouraged by @beanhunter to stop lurking and say a tentative hello!

I’m 4+6 with my first ever BFP. Elated for about 2 days then been slowly winding myself up since.

Some sporadic, mild cramps, twingy pains each day, achey legs and back yesterday, a little breathlessness, occasional feeling sick (defo not m/s), no sore boobs. Feel very much like AF is due today.
I’m slowly convincing myself of the worst and that these are all mc signs.

Viability scan next Thur - time dragging (I did so well with 2WW as well!!!).

Trying to stay realistic - technically this is the first time in the process the %’s are in our favour but cant help but feel we’ve used our luck getting this far!

Definitely in need of some hand-holding & reassurance please, ladies :-) Sorry for being a bit gloomy & paranoid, I just know that this is where people will understand best x

ginandtonicformeplease · 09/08/2018 18:44

Welcome @gingergnome @beanhunter Congratulations on your BFPs! Ginger, I found that time went much more slowly when waiting for the first scan than during the 2WW, not sure why.

@Itonlytakesone 12 week scan should (as per the name) be at 12 weeks but in reality in some areas they're anytime between 12-14 weeks. My clinic doesn't scan past 9 weeks so I'm going to have to find somewhere else to have one done at 10 weeks - guess they see it as they've done their job now Smile

Itonlytakesone · 09/08/2018 18:49

@gingergnome
Completely know what you mean, this is my first ivf cycle too feel like Iv used all my luck getting this far..

We are all in the same boat and I'm sure if you've read back we've been through exactly what you both are at 4 weeks. I'm sure it's quite reassuring reading back actually as many of your questions will get answered that you are probably both thinking about.

I know what you mean about people on here understanding this the best because we understand all the ivf 'twinges' and can put each other's minds at rest!

I'm due on 21st March Smile

gingergnome · 09/08/2018 19:09

Thanks @ginandtonicformeplease & @itonlytakesone and congratulations both!

I’m slowly going through the thread now - feeling better for even just having posted and having you both say you get it :-)

Almost the first thing I did was sneakily check a due date - 13th April, just in time for Easter 🐣 Already fantasising about all the cute stuff I can buy / have made with ducklings and bunnies on

Beherenow32 · 10/08/2018 07:12

I start work in 30 minutes and I’m still lying in bed. Sooo tired 😩

Tigerlily99 · 10/08/2018 14:33

Hello, wonder if I could join you on here? Had a positive result today at OTD and extremely happy to be over the first hurdle but now it’s the next phase of waiting until viability scan. Currently abroad on holiday so won’t be able to book scan until Sun. I’m guessing they will book for around 2 weeks time? I’ll ask them about it when I go in for my blood test on Sun, will need more medications also. Last cycle resulted in a PUL (probably ectopic) but this transfer has felt quite different. For one thing I tested positive 9 days earlier than last time, so I’m really hoping it’s in the right place this time! They will do blood tests 48 hours apart to check numbers doubling but I had doubling betas with the PUL so it’s not a total guarantee. Hope you are all well, recognise a few names here from cycling! X
