BFP after IVF: any other nervous ladies in need of a handhold?

I've had my BFP after our first FET and in a bit of a state analysing symptoms/lack of symptoms. Had two losses prior to starting IVF so really can't get my head round what might be normal or not. Clinic will scan me at six weeks, but that is two very long weeks away! Anyone else in a similar position? xxx

@behere I've no real symptoms either, I'm keeping my fingers crossed I'm one of those lucky women who sail through pregnancy.
@physickate I hope your scan has gone/goes ok.

physicskate · 16/07/2018 15:14

Thanks! It was very emotional... we saw the flickering heartbeat. But it also looks like male genitalia!?!?

Aww fantastic and I'm sure it'll grow out of looking like a penis Grin

ginandtonicformeplease · 16/07/2018 15:31

Hi everyone, hope you don't mind if I join you 👋

I got my BFP on Friday, but didn't manage to make it for bloods until Saturday, then the lab lost the sample 🤦‍♀️

So received a call this afternoon that my progesterone levels are too low, and I have to triple my cyclogest - two pessaries three times a day now. Has anyone else had to insert two at once? Just thinking of the practicalities. Testing again tomorrow and if it hasn't raised sufficiently I'll have to start injections instead.

I'm booked in for my 7 week scan 1st August, and absolutely paranoid that something will go wrong. Also really pissed off with DH at the moment - he's not going to come to the scan as it's too expensive to travel there "just" for a scan. WTF???? I did the FET by myself without complaining, but this is just really pissing me off. AIBU in thinking he should be there?!

Sorry I've spent most of my first post complaining, really glad I found this thread.

Itonlytakesone · 16/07/2018 16:11

@ginandtonicformeplease
Hi, wow congratulations to you you're lucky your clinic check your blood and progesterone levels. I hope it rises for you and you don't have to do any more injections. Good luck with all the extra pessaries Sad

My clinic just said as soon as you get your bfp your body takes over? Hope I'll be ok! Yes your DH should be there because like @physicskate said it's probably going to be emotional! (Congratulations that scan photo just made me slightly excited aww a heartbeat!)

I will be nervously checking how many heartbeats at my scan because i had a double embryo transfer Confused

How far are you along @TheArtfulScreamer?

liono13 · 16/07/2018 17:17

please can someone help me with the acronyms? Would love to join the discussions , what is BFP and FRER and dp and dt and FET? I have had 3 rounds of IVF but feel like I know nothing after seeing these posts! sorry if I sound thick - I am not, I am just new to chat rooms ;)

liono13 · 16/07/2018 17:19

ignore my last post - just found the useful list on here ;)

Beherenow32 · 16/07/2018 18:52

I’m glad there’s more people on this thread now. And we are all so close! 😊
Lovely to hear about your scan @physicskate. That’s a very special moment!
Think I’ll do a Home pregnancy test before my scan 🙊 I’ll be too nervous just to go in! Lol.
I only worked a half day today- and it was tough!
@ginandtonicformeplease that’s a shame your DH isn’t coming for th scan. I hope e doesn’t regret it afterwards. Obv it’s up to you two, what you do, but nice for you to be together xx

TheArtfulScreamer · 16/07/2018 19:03

@ginandtonic I think I'd be very cross with my DH if he wouldn't come to that first scan, if everythings good then I want to share the moment and God forbid the alternative but I'd need a crutch.

Beherenow32 · 16/07/2018 19:05

@physicskate. Just zoomed in on your scan! That’s hilarious 😂

TheArtfulScreamer · 16/07/2018 19:10

Sorry posted to soon @itonlytakesone I'm 5+2 after a BFP on our first IVF attempt so I feel incredibly lucky but very scared and out of my depth, we've a scan a week on Fri and I'm counting down the days.

Itonlytakesone · 16/07/2018 19:28

@Beherenow32 let us know how you get on at your scan a week on Friday. When you say 5+2 is that weeks and days? I know what you mean, to me i feel it's too good to be true it working first attempt especially as my eggs weren't the best quality, however there seems to be a fighter in there! Surprised us all so far anyway.

@liono13 are you going through ivf on 2ww or bfp? 3 rounds sounds so tough all those injections Confused

I'm paranoid already about everything and it's only been 2 days since i discovered the bfp!

Beherenow32 · 16/07/2018 19:47

@Itonlytakesone yeah, 5 weeks and 2 days 😊
This was my 4th transfer! (3 fresh and a frozen). Maybe that’s why I don’t believe it 🙊 of course I am happy... but the nerves are taking over more than anything.
The scan will be a massive milestone!
So happy yours worked first time. It’s such a hard process x

Beherenow32 · 17/07/2018 12:26

Had a complete wobble this morning of anxiety and tears! Hoping it’s actually just hormones!! 😩 xx

physicskate · 17/07/2018 13:23

I did too. Woke up last night from bad cramps... any bleeding? This is a worrying time... not sure if anyone is ever relaxed in early pregnancy.

ginandtonicformeplease · 17/07/2018 14:44

Went for another blood test this morning to check that my hcg levels are increasing and progesterone is high enough now I'm on 6(!) pessaries a day. All is well apparently, gone from 629 to 2740 since Saturday for hcg.

Progesterone is high enough too now but spending the next 7 weeks putting in 6 pessaries a day isn't going to be fun.

@Beherenow32 I'm having a bit of a wobble too. I just can't believe this has worked and I'm sure something is going to go wrong.

Itonlytakesone · 17/07/2018 15:50

@ginandtonicformeplease that's great about the progesterone levels, wonder why I'm not getting checked i stopped pessaries as soon as i got the bfp wonder if I'm more likely to bleed without them?

ConfusedPanicking slightly @Beherenow32 how are you getting on without progesterone you are the same as me as you stopped at bfp?

I don't really understand why we have to take them and why clinics all do this but differently. I guess there's a technical reason.
I did a 3rd pregnancy test today 🙈I'm paranoid haha it's still BFP!!

TheArtfulScreamer · 17/07/2018 16:16

I'm in the wobble camp to Hmm since getting my BFP I've been waking up in the night to go to the loo and waking up and not being able to get back to sleep apart from the last 2 nights were I've slept through and not needed to go until I've woke at a reasonable hour, my boobs are also not as sore. I'm trying to be rational and tell myself it's because I've drunk less and it's been cooler but it doesn't stop me worrying and then I try and tell myself not to worry about something I can't change but that's easier said than done.

Beherenow32 · 17/07/2018 18:40

Sounds like I’m not the only one then!! My DH phoned the hospital to ask them if symptoms coming and going was normal. (To reassure me) and they said it is. A lot of women don’t get symptoms until after their 7 week scan. They would only worry with extreme pain/ bleeding.

@Itonlytakesone I don’t feel like my AF is going to come at all... so, just trusting that part is ok. I am bloated and have sore boobs, which could be the rising progesterone. But I am just completely putting my trust in the hospital!

@ginandtonicformeplease 😖 6?!?? I wonder how your body will react to all the extra hormones. Hope not bad!

@TheArtfulScreamer just the same for me. One day I can get so many symptoms... then they just disappear. Must be normal if we are all experiencing this?!?

@physicskate hope your cramping eases up. Things must be stretching and growing xx

Itonlytakesone · 18/07/2018 07:36

It's going to be a long wait for the 7 week scan!..
Iv been waking up around 5am starving and not being able to sleep again so this morning i was organised and took up to bed some plain almonds so had 5 or 6 then i fell straight back to sleep. Is anyone else experiencing this? Think i eat my evening meal to early (6pm).

Smile
Beherenow32 · 18/07/2018 09:47

@Itonlytakesone a few night I have woken up around 2am really hungry. But just go back to sleep. That’s a good idea to have the almonds.
I struggled to sleep last night, but not feeling too bad atm.
I get a burning feeling accross my ovaries and tummy. Have that a little bit, but not much else going on xx

ginandtonicformeplease · 18/07/2018 11:43

@Beherenow32 I have more of a cramping feeling across stomach and ovaries - it's making me paranoid! I'm also eating loads of prunes/drinking prune juice as constipated. It seems to be quite common though, and as it takes six weeks to get an appt with my GP I'm hoping the natural remedy will sort itself out.

I've gone off food, after spending the last three weeks stuffing myself at every opportunity, and feel quite queasy. The bloating feeling has gone, and I'm hoping it won't come back!

I don't think I've had any extra side effects from all the cyclogest yet. At the risk of TMI, the doc told me to use two at once - it's interesting!

Beherenow32 · 18/07/2018 12:57

@ginandtonicformeplease the burning feeling sounds same as me. So, prob nothing to worry about.
I just ate loads, and not feel a little bit queasy too... but then not sure if I’m juat imagining it...🙄 it’s just a little.
Good luck with the cyclogest! Xx

Barcelo18 · 18/07/2018 18:22

Hello all. Good to hear all the new members are progressing nicely. I’m 18 weeks tomorrow and have a midwife home visit. Does anyone know what this entails? Husband is currently out trimming the lawn and I’m dusting and cleaning inside just incase 😂

Beherenow32 · 18/07/2018 18:30

@Barcelo18 hi. Let ya know how it goes tomorrow. I’m only 5.5 weeks, and haven’t even phoned the midwife! When is everyone else phoning them? After 7 weeks? Xx
