BFP after IVF: any other nervous ladies in need of a handhold?

I've had my BFP after our first FET and in a bit of a state analysing symptoms/lack of symptoms. Had two losses prior to starting IVF so really can't get my head round what might be normal or not. Clinic will scan me at six weeks, but that is two very long weeks away! Anyone else in a similar position? xxx

@1Wanda1 I'll only be 6w6days on Wednesday - time has gone achingly slowly since the BFP... 🙈 feels like Wednesday feels like a month away at the moment!

Decafplease · 27/05/2018 16:16

Welcome & congrats silverlake
wanda yipee fellow 3+ timer! So so happy you are here! Grin

1Wanda1 · 27/05/2018 22:23

Thanks decafplease. Feels so odd thinking I am pregnant! Could not believe it when I saw that line. I can see how the time feels like it is passing slowly, Hobbes39. Guess we just have to have faith and hope for the best. Hard after what it takes just to get here.

Hobbes39 · 28/05/2018 11:26

Hi all, hope everyone is feeling good this morning?
Had a potentially v embarrassing moment this am - my DS nursery is 15 mind drive away, misty down country roads... I dropped him off this morning and just as I was setting off I realised I needed to go to the loo - urgently. I was too far along the road to turn back, but not far enough to r close to home... it was THE most uncomfortable journey ever and thank god there was no one driving the other way today as I drove faster than I ever have! So luckily got home and got to the loo just in time (with the dog looking b sympathetically at me! 🙈) but clearly the cyclogest is totally messing with me!!! Arg! So swapped back again and hoping the bleeding doesn't resume.... why and it just be easy?!
I am also shattered... I do remember the main thing with my DS wasn't being sick (although I got moments of queasiness) but the tiredness like I'd never experienced before... so I guess this exhaustion is a good sign as it's def similar to how I was way back then, but god it makes everything hard work doesn't it? Part of me has been much more positive since the bleeding stopped, but the other part of me is worried about being positive and then discovering all is not well.. how do you stay sane? If this scan does go well on weds the next step will be NIPT... so will have to check back thru thread then and see what you guys all did... anyway, sorry for waffle, I'm just exhausted! X

Janefx40 · 28/05/2018 12:29

Ah @Hobbes39 you poor thing! I have to time my Cyclogest quite carefully as I tend to get a bit of urgency in the mornings. I try to leave it until I've had my first movement before putting it in - if I'm not at work I'll also wait a bit in case there is a second movement. On occasion I have been in pain and just clenched for an hour until I was sure it had absorbed! Sorry - lots of info. But timing bowel movements and cyclogest is a big part of my life at the moment.

I'm not sick (yet) either. I've had the odd mini moment but I'm not sure if that's pregnancy or hunger or what. On Thursday my boobs shrunk back to normal and the next day we saw a heartbeat - I've been determined to ignore all "symptoms" ever since.

But it may be that we are still a bit early for sickness anyway - they say it kicks in at 6 weeks and we are only midway through that week

Xxx

1Wanda1 · 28/05/2018 20:09

I found the same thing with the Cyclogest, Hobbes39. It was fine for a few days but after a week or so it really affected me and so I have gone back to vaginal use.

DW got a clear blue digital today. It came up with 2-3 weeks, so all good for now I guess. Today is 10dp5dt. Have emailed clinic with result as not sure whether they do a blood test or not. They seem to change their routine a bit every time!

DameSylvieKrin · 28/05/2018 20:46

Congratulations, Wanda!
Glad to see thing generally going well for everyone.
I think this thread must have been going for about 9 weeks now? I remember because I found it while I was in the a&e waiting room. Can’t believe time is passing so fast and so slowly at the same time.
Wombats, you asked about movement — it’s really weird, he’s a bit active then quiet for days. I assume that he moves over to the side with the placenta then. Feeling movement is very nice but I thought it would be more immediately reassuring :-)

DameSylvieKrin · 29/05/2018 09:36

Had a bit of a nerve-wracking night as I woke up with contractions. They stopped in time for it to be Braxton Hicks so in the end I went back to sleep, and unfortunately Dr Google says on some places that it’s too early for that and in others that it’s normal. So I won’t rush off to the doctor but might see the GP in the next couple of days.

becky114 · 29/05/2018 10:02

@DameSylvieKrin how far gone are you now? Xxx

1Wanda1 · 29/05/2018 10:16

How many weeks are you, DameSylvieKrin? Definitely worth getting checked out if it felt like contractions. Hope all is ok this morning.

Clinic have offered me a scan in a week period later in June. If I go at the start of that week, will be just over 7w, if I wait a bit then could be closer to 8w or just over. Is later better or can they see everything they need to see (e.g. heartbeat) by 7w?

becky114 · 29/05/2018 10:39

Yep heartbeat should be there by 7 weeks xxx

DameSylvieKrin · 29/05/2018 10:48

19 weeks today. It really did seem like Braxton Hicks, though, and has completely stopped now so will wait a bit.
Making Toad in the Hole now as the baby seems to want sausages (obvs I am sacrificing myself Wink).

SouthernBella74 · 29/05/2018 13:34

Hi all, I hope it’s okay for me to join.

I’m 6w4d today, but even after taking 4 HPTs & having a blood test 🙈, I couldn’t believe it until my scan today and seeing the flickering heart of my baby. 😊

Still a way to go, but cautiously optimistic.

Wishing everyone a stress-free week!

DameSylvieKrin · 29/05/2018 14:04

Welcome, Bella, and congratulations on seeing the hb!

Hobbes39 · 29/05/2018 14:13

Hi all
@DameSylvieKrin - hope you can get reassurance from the gp about the Brixton hicks... afaik they are common from around 20 weeks, so I hope it's nothing to worry about for you as you are close to that.
@SouthernBella74 - welcome! That's lovely news that you've seen a hb - I am 🤞🤞 that I can say the same tomorrow - I'm one day further on that you so will be 6w6d tomorrow and am scared stupid that there won't be one as there wasn't last time Sad... I am totally unable to concentrate on work at the moment - I've been googling what an ultrasound should look like at 6w6d... 🙈 arg! Tomorrow can't come soon enough...!

Decafplease · 29/05/2018 14:35

Congrats bella
hobbes good luck for tomorrow.
dame can you call your midwife and have a phone consult? She could probably reassure you.
I’ve been having a strange issue. In the last 3 weeks i have cracked 2 teeth! Obviously dont want massive dental work while pregnant so dentist has done a temporary filling, permanent solutions to be decided later. She thinks either damage from stomach acids, or perhaps i’m now grinding my teeth - never did before! Or just coincidence. But seems weird for it to happen twice. And while eating relatively soft food - toast once, rice the 2nd time. Hope thats it or i will be toothless by 40weeks!

DameSylvieKrin · 29/05/2018 16:41

Fingers crossed for you tomorrow, Hobbes.
Decaf, good idea with the midwife. If it happens again I will call.
Should also probably get better at taking magnesium.

Janefx40 · 29/05/2018 17:37

@DameSylvieKrin hope midwife can reassure you. Hope you enjoyed the toad in the hole in the meantime.

@SouthernBella74 welcome. I'm exactly the same as you! We had a scan last week and have another on Thursday.

@Decafplease poor you! Cracked teeth sounds painful. At least dental work is free when you are pregnant right? Hopefully it was just a two-off (and no more break)

@Hobbes39 Good luck tomorrow! I found a good site that talked through what you can see on a scan. I will PM you with it if you like

Xxx

Hobbes39 · 29/05/2018 17:42

That would be good @Janefx40 ... the only 6/7 week scans I've ever had have been bad... 😢 so I'm hoping this time is different... 🤞

Janefx40 · 29/05/2018 19:07

Ah @Hobbes39 it's terrifying isn't it. Friday was so hard but I just felt ready to know if it hadn't worked out. And then we got lucky. But I will be bricking it again on Thursday!

We'll all be thinking of you x

wombats · 29/05/2018 21:23

@Silver and @Bella, congrats and welcome! FAb to see the heartbeat Bella, I think that means the chance of miscarriage is much lower.

@Decaf, poor you, sounds so painful!

@Dame, hope the contractions have calmed down a bit, from what I hear they really happen throughout pregnancy. Hope you can get some good advise from your doctor (even if she has bad bedside manner)

@Jane, the scanxiety is just rubbish. Have everything crossed for you for Thurs, just two more sleeps.

@Hobbes, everything crossed for your scan tomorrow, will be thinking of you and sending good thoughts.

@Becky, how are you getting on? Any more spotting? Did they tell you what they thought might have caused it?

I had some AF sorts of cramps today but went away after drinking a bit of water and resting, hopefully nothing bad and just womb stretching. Have another scan tomorrow and hoping baby is still okay.

Sending good thoughts to all xxx

becky114 · 30/05/2018 05:17

@wombats hope you get fewer AF pains today, I get them now and again. I still have the watery brown stuff every now and again to but the doctor said it's perfectly normal in pregnancy - thought I'd mention it just in case any one else on here it experiences it and panics like I did. Doctor also took a look at my cervix to ensure that it's closed because I mentioned all the pain that I'm having inside my vagina, again everything fine but I do worry I have a weak cervix and that's what's causing the pain, the pain is getting worse and is pretty much all day everyday now but it might be me trying to find things to worry about. In addition to this have terrible back pain, tiredness and sickness do life is fun at the moment, all for a good cause though I keep telling myself. I have my dating scan today which I'm looking forward to as at least I know baby's heart it still beating. Also I have started to tell people at work I'm pregnant. Haven't posted anything yet on social media because I'm too scared to lol. Is anyone else planning or not planning to post on social media? Xxx

SouthernBella74 · 30/05/2018 07:59

@Hobbes39, good luck for your scan today. Everything crossed for you that you get good news. 🤞

@DameSylvieKrin, I hope the contractions have eased and you can just relax today.

@Decafplease, is your dentist going to recommend a mouth guard? Cracking teeth sounds scary....

@wombats, that’s nice to hear. I hope I can start to relax more at some point though.

@becky114, good luck with your dating scan. How exciting!

Have a lovely day, ladies.

Bruges21 · 30/05/2018 08:49

Hi everyone. Sorry I've been quiet for a while, I've been reading your posts but not been very good at writing anything myself.

Welcome and congratulations to new people to the thread, lovely to see so many BFPs. These early weeks are so nerve wracking, definitely worse than the 2ww I found! Good luck to everyone who is waiting for a scan, especially thinking of you today Hobbes.

I'm just over 13 weeks now. Had our NHS dating scan last week, had the usual scanxiety beforehand but was all ok thank goodness. Couldn't stop crying, felt like such a big milestone. Midwife was lovely. Have told all our family and work now, just telling others as we see them. Becky I'm not a big fan of social media so won't be putting anything on there but think it's just personal choice so do what you feel comfortable with.

Hi to everyone else xx

Bruges21 · 30/05/2018 08:50

Becky sorry forgot to say good luck for your scan today too!
