Hi everyone,I am currently going through my second cycle of IVF with IVI Cheshire and can't fault them.
We only had one embryo to transfer on our first cycle which failed to implant.
The first embryo from our second cycle implanted but I sadly miscarried at 7 weeks.
About to start my first frozen embryo transfer next month.
Any success stories on here from frozen embies? After our loss towards the end of last year I'm feeling very anxious about the frozen embryo transfer as it is new to us.

wanab · 29/01/2019 12:59

Hi hun. Afraid I've no success stories yet for you, but have had 2 natural FET's. One chemical and one fail. Is yours medicated? X

SarahC16 · 29/01/2019 13:26

Yes I will be starting a medicated cycle.
Can take up to 10 weeks so a little longer than a fresh transfer.

crisps88 · 29/01/2019 17:58

Hi @wanab, sorry to hear you had a recent fail that how hard.

Hope you and @SarahC16 have good luck. Sorry to hear you both have had unsuccessful attempts.

Fingers crossed for you both. Have they told you if there’s any better chance for frozen or x? Xxx

wanab · 29/01/2019 18:21

Thanks. I had freeze all so no option. I don’t think it recovered from the problems with the thaw. I’m awaiting my follow up in the post. X

SarahC16 · 29/01/2019 18:34

We only have the one frozen embryo so anxious about the thawing process.
I have been told the frozen transfer rate of success is similar to the fresh transfer rates.

PennyBC26 · 29/01/2019 20:08

Hi all, you are much further along than me as I only have the initial meeting at Chester on 20th Feb but I was told by the lead of the clinic in Halton that the success rates are similar with frozen xx

crisps88 · 29/01/2019 21:48

When do you get told if it’s fresh or frozen transfer ?

@wanab, Hopefully when you get your follow up then they will have some modifications that they can make to help. Feeling for you.

@PennyBC26 the initial meeting is where you feel like it’s real, and the ball starts rolling I think!

I’ve got my scan Thursday to see how Thin my womb lining is with fingers crossed to start injections Sunday.

How is everyone feeling? Xx

PennyBC26 · 29/01/2019 21:55

@crisps88 hope all goes well for you! I can't wait till the meeting, just want to get started with it all! I've got to self fund it though as I didn't make NHS criteria xx

crisps88 · 06/02/2019 12:46

Thanks ! You’ll find it absolutely flies after the meeting. Bad news about self funding, that’s a kicker. You hope all the more hey. The meetings have a mix of private and nhs lead. Make sure you book a private AMH test if your PCT don’t offer it, that’ll help to guide your drug choice.

I would say to you to find a fertility (mine is zita west affiliated) acupuncturist if you’re going to start shortly after and give that a go. I started about 8 weeks before any actual first official fertility appointment after the pie.

When you actually know what your drugs you’re getting, I work in the medical background, it’s really worth “shopping around” for in pharmacies and asking them for prices if you are able to and they don’t supply the drugs specifically where you are privately. It’s an option you can ask for, but bear in mind there are margins and fees on top of the prescription so ask for the full price and you may have a package ivf price where you are being treated.

When is your pie meeting? Good luck and do any questions you need to!

I am currently on Meriofert injections, started on Sunday. Then adding Cetrotide into the mix tomorrow. My scan is Next Wednesday and apparently the big decision day my nurse said as to the next step (they’ve provisionally booked egg collection for Thursday 15th!!)

Xx

PennyBC26 · 06/02/2019 19:43

@crisps88 thanks so much for all of the info...I literally can't stop thinking about everything ahead of me! My meeting is on the 20th in Chester and then I have an appointment on 27th at the clinic in Halton. Yes, I've been having acupuncture since July and this month have started taking Chinese medicine prescribed by my acupuncturist. I've been taking Co-Q10, Omega 3, Vit D, Pregnacare and having Maca and Wheat Grass everyday...not to mention all of the green smoothies I'm making for breakfast and fish I'm eating! Yes, I had my AMH done about a month ago but might get it done again! I had a transvaginal scan that I requested as I had the fear that there was something seriously wrong...turns out I have one uterine polyp! The sonographer said they would refer me to a gynaecologist so just hoping this has also been shared with Chester. After googling it I think it might need to be removed before IVF! Hope all is well
with you. It certainly sounds that you are clued up and in the swing of things...I might keep asking you for advice!!xx

PennyBC26 · 14/02/2019 19:12

@crisps88 Hope all is well with you? Good luck for tomorrow if all is going ahead! x

crisps88 · 14/02/2019 20:12

Hey! I had a scan yesterday (decision day apparently!) to see how all injections went. I had Meriofert 225mg total once a night for ten days, and then Cetrotide added in from the 5th day.

I have got 10 viable eggs, quite a few too big on right side and not as many at all on left side. So had a progesterone blood test to see that I wasn’t making my own hormones then waited for the fertility nurse to call with the go ahead or delay.

She did ! All positive to go ahead, so tomorrow 930am for pre op and into theatre 1030am. I am so nervous!!! I had my trigger Gonsai last night 1030pm.

I hope all is well with you, any advice you want just ask! This is literally the only chat group I’m in (which is quite quiet), and I would definitely say not getting involved in too many sites or forums works wonders. I didn’t want to know too much or have anyone else’s opinions just their advice and support was great.

Hope all the other ladies are well! @Bev10 @wanab xx

wanab · 14/02/2019 20:27

Yay! Hope it all goes well! There may be more than one egg in some of the folicles. I'm waiting for my follow up on 26th. X

Bev10 · 14/02/2019 20:28

Good luck for tomorrow @crisps88. It's really not as bad as you might expect, the drugs they give you to sedate you gives you the best sleep ever, it was only 20 minutes and I was convinced I'd sleep for hours. I didn't feel or remember any of it and woke up feeling happy.
I was quite disheartened to be told they only got 4 eggs but as they say it only takes one good egg.
Try to drink plenty of water for the following few days and rest up!
I'm doing really well thanks for asking xxx

crisps88 · 14/02/2019 20:41

@wanab , is it your follow up to try and modify your next cycle? Really hope they get it right this time, I’m sure they will. My acupuncturist said that each Time is over 25% success so in three cycles it’s bound to happen. I hope things are well , it must be so hard. Take care of yourself and maybe try to do something to relax and be good to yourself.

@Bev10 thanks for the advice, much appreciated. I am trying to feeling positive and I’m very grateful for the opportunity. It’s just a little nerve wrecking. For sure, 1 egg is all it takes definitely! I’ve been to the shops and loaded up on loads of goodies and all great bits and bobs!

I will update tomorrow. Thanks guys it’s nice to hear from you both. Xxxx

wanab · 14/02/2019 20:59

I’m just having FETs. I got 18 embryos from my first round so it’s to discuss the next one. I’m hoping I can get the scratch again, and I think I want to try one more natural FET as the last one didn’t thaw well.

PennyBC26 · 15/02/2019 20:27

Sounds like everyone is in the full swing of things, sending lots of positive thoughts! Great to have this group, such a good support network! Enjoy your weekend ladies, you deserve it!!x

crisps88 · 16/02/2019 08:35

Hi ladies. I had my Egg collection yesterday, the operation itself was fine! No problems at all, the staff there are super nice so lovely. The theatre room was a little daunting but only because you don’t know what to expect. But i had a lovely sleep ! As people have said can’t fault them.

I had 10 viable eggs, so I was so disappointed when the lady said only 3 had been retrieved. I was just gutted, I know it only takes 1 to make a baby I’m just so disheartened. I was so positive throughout the whole process and even before and after surgery I was smiling and happy. That news just crushed me a little.

I’m waiting on the embryologist to call shortly, around 11am so I’m highly a nervous. To tell me how many, if any, have fertilised. My god I’m anxious. I haven’t really felt much pressure throughout the whole process but I felt like I’d just let myself and my husband down and feel like a failure.

Anyway sorry to ramble on. Will update with news 🤞 xx

PennyBC26 · 16/02/2019 09:34

Awwwww @crisps88 you haven't let anyone down and you certainly are NOT a failure! You are doing everything you can and things are moving in the right direction. I'm sure your husband is proud of you and you should be proud of yourself, this is your journey and you will get there! Like you said, it only takes one egg. Make sure you try to relax and look after yourself, sending positive thoughts for the phone call at 11 xx

wanab · 16/02/2019 09:40

It's such a difficult process, and that time after collection and the 2ww are the hardest. I have everything crossed for you. X

crisps88 · 16/02/2019 11:20

Thanks ladies, it’s is helpful having support and advice. I totally agree with you all, I say the same thing and it’s easier to be positive about others situations so thanks for the uplifting thoughts.

The embryologist called, out of the three eggs only one fertilised. The other two eggs are mature but not fully developed. So they have a provisional appointment for Wednesday for fresh egg transfer. Depending on what happens. They call me on Monday to see how the egg has been to see if anything can go ahead.

I’m currently eating my body weight in crisps and chocolate watching frivolous tv!! Thanks for your advice @wanab, I said to my friend today I didn’t actually realise it was going to be this hard I’ve been just taking it ‘as is’ but now it seems so real and difficult!

crisps88 · 16/02/2019 11:22

@PennyBC26 how are you doing? Thanks a lot for your nice words it’s really kind of you. It’s nice reading them it helps. X x

wanab · 16/02/2019 11:36

Yes, it certainly gets real. Really hoping that one is your little miracle. Keep eating healthy to give that little one the best chance. Hugs. X

PennyBC26 · 16/02/2019 11:59

Keep watching the tv, stock up on magazines and try not to think about everything too much, although easier said than done! I have the PIE on Wednesday, anxious but eager to start!xx
