@wanab it certainly is, it’s our first round so not knowing what to expect and that there’s so many hurdles to go across before even the 2ww or the actual hopefully pregnancy. I tell you what We and our partners deserve a medal for going through this. It’s so hard . X x

crisps88 · 16/02/2019 14:47

PennyBC26 That’s brilliant your journey is on your the beginning, it honestly moves so fast from there! Ours was end of October and we began ivf January. The only thing is, depends which hospital you are, make sure you have your first appointment scheduled for after it. Us and another couple were at a hospital that we had to chase up our appointment, which was first week of January (just to show you timescale) X x

PennyBC26 · 16/02/2019 15:53

@crisps88 wow that is quick! I found out a few weeks ago I have a polyp so I'm guessing I might have to get that removed before starting, I'll see what they say. Hope you are having a relaxing afternoon xx

crisps88 · 18/02/2019 13:26

Afternoon ladies. Had my 3 day call to see how my egg was getting on, it’s not good news. The egg wasn’t developing it was just a 3 cell egg and they would expect it to be 8 cell by now. Words can’t describe how gutted I am, this whole process is so heartbreaking it’s crazy to go through.

I didn’t even anticipate an issue with eggs nor sperm, me and my husband have been together such a long time and we had a termination when I was 17 and then miscarriage at 12 weeks when I was 23. I’m 30, he’s 33 both with no medical issues.

Hospital will call again Wednesday morning for Confirmation there will be no transfer that day. Just absolutely gutted, not even got to transfer stage I can’t believe it. I feel so hopeless and sad. X

Bev10 · 18/02/2019 14:57

I'm so sorry to hear this, my heart is so sad for you and your husband. You must be going through so many emotions right now.
You're so brave to write that update and share it with us, keep that strength! Xx

crisps88 · 18/02/2019 16:09

Thanks @Bev10, I just never contemplated these stages as being an issue. There was nothing found with either of us, and with two previous pregnancies together I didn’t even think of this.

Do you and/or @wanab know how long is it typically before your next fertility appointment to discuss? I know there are 3 NHS funded cycles and I don’t know what is counted towards that.

Thanks for your help and words xxx

wanab · 18/02/2019 17:52

So sorry to hear that. Big hugs for you. Give yourself time to grieve, and feel normal before rushing into next cycle. It's such a mental and physical battle. It takes it's toll. They usually allow about 3-4 weeks I think minimum for follow up. You'll get a withdrawal bleed soon that will be heavy and potentially painful from stimms. Then it would be minimum of one period after that I think before they would let you start again. ....great news that you get there cycles. I get two and some at the clinic get 1. It usually includes egg collection as being the cut off. If you search your ccg online you can find the exact wording etc.

crisps88 · 18/02/2019 20:47

Thank you @wanab, I know we are so so lucky we get 3 funded it is so unfair it’s a postcode lottery almost and it must Be so hard the more that go on and the lesser funded. We are really grateful and so lucky to have three for sure. It’s so hard isn’t it, we’re all at COCH but all in different PCT situations. By the way, just in case anyone wants to know (I know it sounds smart arse but I didn’t know until researched today) the NICE Guidelines quote that:

3 full cycles of IVF/ICSI should be provided where the female partner is aged 39 and under. A full cycle of IVF/ICSI has been clearly defined as one in which 1 or 2 embryos are replaced into the womb as fresh embryos (where possible) with any remaining good-quality embryos frozen for use later. When these frozen embryos are used, this is still considered to be part of the same cycle.

Obviously dependent on the amount of cycles you get. I’d pay anything for a healthy baby, as would we all. Thank you for your advice, it’s really helpful to know what’s ahead and what to expect.

Thank you, I truthfully did not anticipate that there was so many “what ifs” and so many individual stages at each point, naively probably. I really thought that it would happen. Thanks for your kind words. Look forward to everyone else’s updates too. Good luck wishes. Xxx

PennyBC26 · 18/02/2019 20:48

@crisps88 I'm so sorry. You must feel understandably sad. Hope you are ok, just try to keep positive and remember that everything you are doing you are getting one step closer. Keep on, keeping on! xx

crisps88 · 18/02/2019 21:48

@PennyBC26 thank you a lot, I am hoping your meeting goes well Wednesday! They will send you all the slides on email, I took notes like crazy as well! Remember to ask at the end if you don’t have your follow up appointment already booked as the fertility nurse, ours was Natalie, will chase it up at your individual hospital. I don’t know if you’ve had your AMH blood test done as part of NHS. Ours was private, but they encourage you to do that. It gets moving so soon onto this crazy rollercoaster soon that will get us our babies! X x

PennyBC26 · 18/02/2019 22:30

@crisps88 Thank you, I've got my notebook ready! I've had my AMH done, unfortunately it is low...one of the reasons I have to pay! Yes, I have an appointment booked for the 28th Feb so just a week after the meeting. I'm hoping I can start everything really soon. Hope you are ok xx

crisps88 · 20/02/2019 12:32

@PennyBC26, good luck for your information event today. It’s so exciting it’s your first step towards it ! Good luck. X x

PennyBC26 · 20/02/2019 15:02

@crisps88 Thank you! Feeling a little anxious but it's the first step of many in the right direction! Hope you are ok xx

crisps88 · 20/02/2019 18:58

I’m not doing bad, we had a call today from the embryologist. She said that the embryo had developed but not enough and it wasn’t at a blastocyst stage yet as it should.

However , they recommended transferring the embryo but with a precaution that it was only a 5% success rate. So we’ve had the transfer today, it was pain free and I am literally praying and omg we need every piece of good luck !

Absolute emotional rollercoaster! X x

wanab · 20/02/2019 19:56

A tough situation, but at least you are giving little emby a chance. I felt like that with my last transfer as it hadn't started expanding when it was transferred. I didn't have much hope but I was glad to still try. Hope it's a little fighter and you have good news soon Crisps.

crisps88 · 20/02/2019 21:01

@wanab i totally agree, I just want so bad to be that 5%. Oh it’s so hard isn’t it, you’re right it’s counted as a cycle after egg collection our CCG has stated so I thought why not. Plus the new rules for where we live states 2 cycles now, changed in January. The embryologist recommended going ahead but said the two week weight will be terrible!

Aw I do fingers crossed hey, it’s so emotional the scan and the photo it feels so real I just want him or her to stay! Did you get your follow up yet ? I hope they have some good details to make it successful for you both. As you’ve had two fresh transfers, does this mean you have to pay privately now? If you don’t mind me asking. X x x

wanab · 20/02/2019 22:04

I had a freeze all so both of mine were frozen transfers (FETs). I still have 16 more to go at, and that's all round one. My follow up is Tuesday next week. I'm nearing the end of my period now so really hoping I can transfer again this cycle if it's another natural one. I think it might be too short notice for the scan especially given I was planning the scratch again too. Will have to wait and see. .... try and keep busy to distract yourself, and don't symptom spot as you'll just torture yourself. Hugs. Xxx

PennyBC26 · 21/02/2019 11:19

@crisps88 I have everything crossed for you and your emby, 5% might be just want you need! I was very overwhelmed after the PIE but they really seem to know what they are doing so we can take comfort in that! It really is clever science so we just have to put our faith in that!!xx

crisps88 · 21/02/2019 15:31

@wanab Thanks for your advice, yes defo you could drive yourself crazy I think overthinking every little thing. Oh that’s brilliant, glad it’s all one round that’s so good. So all those are as transfers? How do they decide on fresh or frozen? Is it the progesterone blood tests ? I obviously had no eggs to freeze so not an option this time but it’s that’s a great lift off your mind as well as all the stress. Sorry I just didn’t know any of this! I didn’t have a scratch, I wonder if I should ask for this? Thanks for all your advice. I do hope you can have your review and get started as soon as ! X x x

crisps88 · 21/02/2019 15:33

@PennyBC26 glad you had it and are on your way to your ivf journey! I think it is a overwhelming and I certainly didn’t realise that there was so many ifs and buts at each and every stage but it is good to get a reassurance how good they are to help! X x x

wanab · 21/02/2019 15:42

I had a freeze all as I had very high egg numbers due to pco, and showed signs off ohss before collection. Also my womb lining was too thick too early in stimms so they wouldn't have risked putting everything back. For NHS ivi chester includes the scratch but in general there doesn't seem to be much evidence in it's favour. (But no negative effects either.)

crisps88 · 21/02/2019 16:16

@wanab, it’s good they looked at different options for the variables you have. I’m glad you have a clear idea of what’s happening and a direction of what will and won’t work hopefully at your review . Fingers crossed xxx

wanab · 01/03/2019 10:09

Scan this morning. All looking great. Will hopefully surge in next 48 hours then transfer 6 days later. Hoping third transfer lucky!

crisps88 · 01/03/2019 12:18

@wanab that’s brilliant news !! Yay!!! Aw fantastic dor you. Yes definitely fingers toes and everything else crossed for you third time is a charm xxx

PennyBC26 · 01/03/2019 18:54

@wanab that's great news!! I've got to go for another scan to see if the polyp is still there and if it is I will get it removed. Meanwhile I've been given DHEA. I met my nurse called Cathy, she is lovely!! Hope you are ok @crisps88 xx
