Hi ladies, how are you all doing. I'm day 3 of buserelin in prep for my FET. Trying to keep calm and positive! Hope you are all doing ok xx

Matilda128 · 22/01/2020 20:29

Hi PennyBC26. Good to hear you are getting ready for your FET with a calm and positive mindset. I'm very close to going for my EC. I was surprisingly ok until now. I'm just comparing everything to my first round and I'm down two follicles this time so I'm worried this means less egg- less chances and so on... I really hope I'm going to find my calm again Hmm xxx

PennyBC26 · 25/01/2020 18:29

@Matilda128 I have everything crossed for you! When is your EC or have you had it now? Hope you are doing ok xx

Matilda128 · 25/01/2020 18:43

Hi @PennyBC26 Thank you for your message! I had my EC and it turned into a total disaster and actually wrote a separate post about it www.mumsnet.com/Talk/infertility/3805085-Egg-fertilisation-disaster-so-confused
I feel so utterly devastated today. There is one surviving egg so they still want me to do Lubion injections but I am really struggling- I know the saying it only takes one but I just can't hope anymore.
I am so sorry for writing this- I know it's so miserable.
I hope you are doing well- how long do you need to take the burselin? Xxx

PennyBC26 · 25/01/2020 19:13

Oh @Matilda128 I have just read your post. I am so sorry, I can imagine how frustrated and confused you must be feeling. Please do keep me updated and I'm here if you want a rant! It seems like you have done everything you could have done to prepare for it. I hope the one you have makes it through, sending you positive thoughts! We put so much trust in the experts, it's hard to let them take control and make the decisions. I have everything crossed for you! I am waiting for my bleed, but I think I stay on buserelin for a few weeks. I will be adding in the lprogynova soon and then lubion before transfer. The lubion is awful, I find it so painful! Hope you are ok xx

Matilda128 · 25/01/2020 19:27

@PennyBC26 Thank you so much- This IVF process can be so heartbreaking but I find that the support and kindness that can be found on these support sites is truly astonishing Flowers
My DP is also so upset but where I cry, he just goes quiet while trying to comfort me.
I really hope this process will be successful for you and thanks again for your kind words xxx

PennyBC26 · 25/01/2020 20:24

Thank you @Matilda128 Yes, this whole IVF journey is full of ups and downs, the not knowing is the worst! If someone could tell me it would work eventually I would feel so much better, but it really is an unknown! We've got to try and keep positive in all of this craziness! xx

CurlyWurlyTwos · 27/01/2020 06:04

Hey - just catching up with the thread!

I'm sorry about your EC @Matilda128 to collect one is totally rubbish. I had one round which I only collected 2 eggs (after being on FULL DOSE of menopur) only for neither of them to fertilise. I understand how disappointing it is.

IVF is the hardest thing, so much is left out of your hands yet to you try your best to control what you can - which you did. You will never regret regret that you haven't done enough! You've done everything right!

Good luck @PennyBC26 I'll be thinking of you! I've decided to go for EMMA/ALICE/ERA testing, which'll take up to 6 weeks. I only have 1 good quality embryo, so want to make sure that my uterus is in good shape!

It's a lot of pressure on only 1! Not sure we can afford another round!

Matilda128 · 27/01/2020 17:13

Hi @CurlyTwirlyTwos It's great to hear you have a good quality embryo! Congratulations Flowers

It wasn't that I only had 1 egg collected- I had 10, but only one fertilised and I got a call this morning that it was very poor and not expected to make it to day 5. I just don't understand what has happened because I previously had much better results. The embryologist said it was 'just one of those things'. I'm just heartbroken.

Can I ask you and @PennyBC26 what kind of protocols you followed. I was on short (10 days) 375 menopur. I'm wondering if this is the only one at the clinic as I had the same both times.

I can really understand that you are feeling the pressure. Take care of yourself!

@PennyBC26 hope your injections are going well!

pinkdeedee · 30/01/2020 08:26

Hi Ladies, hope you are all well?
After a little advice / calming down!!! I’m due to see the nurses on Monday for my planning appointment and AF has shown up today!! I should add that I don’t have periods and usually have to take provera every 3 months!!!
Just wondering how this is going to effect my treatment? I have a really irrational fear that because I’m having a “natural” bleed that they are going to pull my funding or that I won’t be able to start treatment on Monday Confused
I’m also worry what the whole “planning” appointment is about??
Any advice / calming thoughts would be great xx

Matilda128 · 30/01/2020 08:46

Hi @Pinkdeedee I don't think it's an issue (especially in terms of funding) but I would definitely call the nurses to explain the situation. I usually have the planning appointment after I called the clinic with day one of my period and they just give you dates of injections and scans. Last time they also tested for infections. But it may be different in your case. I would just call now and see what they say rather than wait until the appointment next week (I wouldn't mention funding though). If they say it is an issue (I really don't think so) I would really insist on them finding a solution. Good luck!

PennyBC26 · 30/01/2020 19:17

@Matilda128 Hope you are doing ok. I was on the antagonist protocol for EC. I think it was the max dose of me menopor ...6 vials for one dose!
For my FET I'm on buserelin, then adding in progynova and then lubion....and taking shed loads of vitamins too!xx

pinkdeedee · 30/01/2020 20:18

@matilda128 I contacted the nurses and they have changed my appointment now which is making me more anxious!!! Instead of going to the countess for my planning appointment I’m now going to the Wellness Centre for a scan!!! I thought they would have performed all that at the hospital? I asked the nurse if that means I can’t start treatment on Monday and her response was “let’s wait and see”!! This is going to be. Lllloooonnnngggg weekend!!

Matilda128 · 30/01/2020 20:39

Oh no @pinkdeedee how frustrating! But I go to the Wellness Centre quite often (also for scans) so there's nothing special about your appointment being there. I actually like going there because it's less hospital like. It's really not nice that the nurse said "let's wait and see"- I get so frustrated when they don't take the time to explain things fully although I completely understand they are really busy. Did you tell them you are feeling really worried and anxious?
I'm really think you will be fine. Hang in there!

Matilda128 · 30/01/2020 21:43

Thanks for letting me know @PennyBC26 I thought I was on the max with 5 vials- such fiddly work! In terms of vitamins- did you take DHEA? Sorry for asking all these questions. I'm trying to prepare myself for the follow-up appointment. I want to do another round but I'm terrified of something going wrong again. Hope you're feeling ago with all those medicines! Xx

PennyBC26 · 30/01/2020 22:09

@Matilda128 Yes, they recommended DHEA as I have low AMH so was worried about eggs. I took it for almost three months before EC. I took Coq 10 also. I've read up on DHEA and it's good for egg quality. Definitely ask at your appointment if you should take it. I bought it from the clinic for £40 but you can also get it cheaper online xx

Matilda128 · 14/02/2020 17:51

Hi everyone! I hope everyone is doing ok! We had our consultation a couple of weeks ago and we are looking to start our next treatment as soon as possible. I'm really confused though and hope someone can help. The consultant said he would put together a quote. After a week I called the clinic as we didn't receive anything- I was told it would be sorted and then finally 4 days later (after I called again) we got something in the mail. But what we got is just a list with prices (something available online). It doesn't specify what tests need to be redone or how much the medicine would come to. Is this normal for a quote from the clinic? What happens after this? Will they need to receive money upfront? Will they send an invoice? It's just so vague and because we got the letter on a Friday evening I can't call and will be fretting about it all weekend. I'm really questioning whether we should go with a different clinic- I don't want to but at the same time I'm so fed up with there always being an issue. Hope someone can help. Xxx

Matilda128 · 14/02/2020 17:54

I asked about DHEA @PennyBC26 but was told that in my case it wouldn't make much of a difference. We didn't get any clarity of what had gone wrong really other than bad luck.
I hope you are doing well. Have you had your transfer? Xxx

PennyBC26 · 15/02/2020 11:08

@Matilda128 Hope you are doing ok. Our consultant worked out a rough cost for us during our consultation. For procedures we get an invoice in the post and then phone to pay it and for medication a company phones us and we pay over the phone. We were told after our second failed transfer that there was t really a reason. We then had the ERA,ALICE and EMMA test and that confirmed that there was no reason why it didn't work. I am hoping to have my transfer on 27th 🙏If full swing of buserelin and progynova xxx

Matilda128 · 15/02/2020 14:10

Thank you so much for getting back @PennyBC26 I didn't realise you had to take the medicine for so long before the actual transfer. I only ever had a non medicated FET. I hope you are feeling ok and the medicine hasn't got too many side effects.
Paying for treatment adds a whole layer of stress on top of everything else. I'm really going to struggle to pay for everything. When we saw the consultant he also said he was going to put a rough cost together for us and send it- I think he may have forgot. I didn't realise you have treatment first and then pay.
It is so frustrating how Ivf is just full of uncertainties and randomness. It really feels like gambling- and I really hate gambling.
Thanks again and fingers crossed for your treatment xxx

I have just come across this page today, only joined today so trying to figure out how it works, we were referred for RPH in August 2017 to Chester and after a long process had eggs collected in September 2019 which resulted in 5 being frozen. Had our first embryo transfer in January (stimulated ovulation) which was unsuccessful and we have been to the wellness centre today for our follow up and saw Karen, we are trying for a natural cycle and we are looking at March, It would be great to speak to people who are at the same centre as us so we can support each other. I have nothing but praise for yhe consultants and nurses at Chester they have been amazing with us xxxx

PennyBC26 · 17/02/2020 23:03

Hi @Vicki2411 Yes, I have been very happy with the care I have had at Chester. Most of my appointments are done at Halton hospital but my egg collection and transfer are all done at Chester xx

PennyBC26 · 01/03/2020 10:47

Hi all! Just checking in. I had my transfer on Thursday, praying that our last frostie will stick and make it! How are you all?xx

Vicki2411 · 01/03/2020 11:57

@PennyBC26 everything crossed for you, we are just waiting on day 1 then hopedully FET number 2 later this month xxxx

PennyBC26 · 01/03/2020 12:54

@Vicki2411 Ooooh exciting! I hope CD1 starts soon for you. Hoping it is third time lucky for us!xx
