Feeling ok. One week till my follow up. Keen to get on with it now I have the date in the diary. Still planning on medicated. X

wanab · 03/04/2019 07:54

Everything crossed @Crisps88. I'm glad it was helpful for you. X

PennyBC26 · 03/04/2019 22:43

@crisps88 sorry to hear about the miss match with the follicles, they must have been frustrating. It's good to know that the doctor has been great. @wanab I bet you can't wait for your follow up. We need to all keep positive and visualise good things!!xx

wanab · 05/04/2019 12:56

Can I ask. Do any of you live in Chester or ellesmere port? Under Cheshire west ccg? If so what funding have you received please? X

PennyBC26 · 05/04/2019 20:39

@wanab Warrington and no funding, gutted!xx

ClareLS · 08/04/2019 13:10

Hi everyone, hope you don't mind me joining this conversation so late! It's my first MumsNet post, my partner and I have just been referred for IVF at Chester so it's great to read about other peoples' experiences there - i hope things are going well for you all.
I wondered how long people generally waited from referral to the first appointment and to starting treatment? Thanks!

wanab · 08/04/2019 17:02

In part it depends if you have has any of the tests beforehand. If you've had amh and things like that done its not all that long. My referral was Feb and first appointment was April but I hadn't had any tests so it was August before our patient info eve. We started not long after that.

ClareLS · 08/04/2019 19:12

@wanab Thanks, is amh part of the blood test? If so I've had all of that done and I've had a laparoscopy which showed I've got endometriosis, which is why we've been referred for IVF. They said we should receive a letter in the next couple of weeks to invite us to the patient info evening so hopefully it won't take too long after that then.
How is everything going for you?

wanab · 08/04/2019 19:32

It is a blood test but needs specialist equipment. I could only get it privately. Not great for me. I had lots of frosties from a freeze all (18) but so far had one chemical and 2 fails. Follow up tomorrow. Good luck. X

ClareLS · 08/04/2019 19:50

@wanab Ah I see, then no I haven't had an amh yet. Hopefully I'll find out more about that and the next steps at the info evening.
I'm so sorry to hear you've been having a difficult time with no success yet. I really hope things get better for you, good luck with your follow up xx

wanab · 12/04/2019 13:37

Hi all. Thought I would update you after the follow up. I'm starting medicated this time. However I wont transfer on this cycle as I'm paying for a private test for endometrial receptivity and also to check the bacteria levels (good and bad) in the endometrium. So I will then transfer on the following cycle. My period wasn't due until Easter weekend... but today is day one... so I've rung clinic and am awaiting a call back.

PennyBC26 · 13/04/2019 13:05

Hi all! @wanab I don't know much about endometrial receptivity, is it another test? Hope you are ok. I'm starting Norethisterone on Monday. All the meds have arrived...there's so many!!xx

wanab · 13/04/2019 13:30

Yes. It's another test to check whether the timing of transfer I have been doing is right for my body.

It definitely gets real when the meds arrive. Good luck!

PennyBC26 · 13/04/2019 14:04

@wanab Thank you! Hope the rest results give you lots of information to help with the next step of your journey xx

crisps88 · 14/04/2019 12:19

Hey @wanab how are you doing ? How did your follow up go?? So I live in Wirral, which is a different ccg to there but I get treated at countess of Chester (I happen to work in Ellesmere Port so I know their ccg) but mine is 2 nhs funded cycles. We’ve not been lucky enough to have anything to freeze first go so our first cycle wasn’t good and ended there as opposed to having loads of frosties to keep going.

How about you? Did you get one did you say? Wirral ccg did offer 3 funded until 1.5 years ago when we originally started our infertility journey a year ago. So you medicate this cycle and then wait to transfer next cycle, do you medicate again? How you feeling about things? You are incredibly strong.

I had an another update from our specialist they want to start again my period this month and increase meriofert to 375 but it seems too soon, I’m going away on Monday for well deserved sun holiday with husband then have bro in laws wedding in three weeks and a family trip to Poland in five weeks so I have all I can to keep busy whilst I let the dhea kick in for longer. I’ve delayed it by a month to give us the best opportunity possible. X x x

crisps88 · 14/04/2019 12:22

@PennyBC26 eeek!! How you feeling?? It’s all come around so soon hasn’t it ! What meds are you taking? Glad it’s come around quickly and don’t panic! I found the Northisterone the worst out of everything! I’ve never taken it before and OMG I was like a bitch on wheels lol but then calmed down when it came to the injections. It was just hard socially-not drinking , being in at a certain curfew lol. But of course gave it up willingly in a heartbeat I just mean the pits and falls. When you due tonstart?? Xx

crisps88 · 14/04/2019 12:24

Heyy @ClareLS welcome to our little forum!! Not long at all, we waited the longest for our patient information event (pie) and that was 6 weeks. Had that mid November and by start of January We had begun the cycle eg we started February the actual meds this was a when I rang up for my period date. Hope all goes well lovely x

wanab · 14/04/2019 13:00

Hi @Crisps88.
Feeling ok about it all. Yes I'll be medicated this cycle and next. Im sort of glad in a way of the break from transfer. My period has come early so I am at the clinic on Thursday to get my protocol and drugs then I think its injection day 21 at the start of April.

I am entitled to two cycles at the moment but I've heard in the pipeline that that may be subject to change in the not to distant future. Im hopeful that it would only affect new fresh cycles rather than people who have ones in storage. That said I'm not planning to use my second cycle. I've been so lucky getting the number I have and I've decided if none of them work then enough is enough. There's only so many times I can put myself through it, and I'll look at other options.

Enjoy your break, and good luck for your next cycle. X

PennyBC26 · 14/04/2019 14:50

@crisps88 I know, I can't believe the time has come to start! I start the Norethisterone tomorrow, then after that I move on to meriofert, letrozole and cetrotide...eeeeek! I finally told the people who need to know at work so feel better about that now. Just worried about how I will feel on the meds. I've been told my the nurse they can sign me off for two weeks. Did you all take time off? Also, not looking forward to the endometrial scratch, does it hurt? xx

crisps88 · 14/04/2019 14:54

So you’re medicated for two cycles but only have transfer for the second cycle? I’m so confused 🤷‍♀️ 😂 is this a long protocol this time? Over two cycles?

Yeh basically our fertility specialist intimated this at our first appointment and then pushed for us to use second cycle without waiting so he’s said soo many times about the funding being cut and no one knows the nhs funding future so I would seriously think so.

How come you’re doing the other two private tests - did you get advised to or? Only because I’d like to do anything possible.

Yes it’s the most all consuming unbelievably hard crazy rollercoaster of few months during ivf and I don’t know emotionally and physically how many times I could do it really. So draining. X x

ClareLS · 14/04/2019 15:17

@crisps88 Thank you! I'm really grateful to be able to hear other people's experiences. I've read back through all of the previous posts now and it's so helpful. We're just waiting for a letter to invite us to the PIE so hopefully it won't be too long! After the PIE is it just a case of waiting for an appointment to talk through next steps then you get started on the meds? Do you know how they decide whether you have a medicated cycle or not? I ovulate dearly but I've got endometriosis which is why we've been referred, not sure how that affects the decision etc...

@wanab good luck with your next steps, I really hope you have more success with your next round. I can't imagine how hard it's been for you so far and can understand why you wouldn't want to keep putting yourself through it. Really hope things work out for you.

@PennyBC26 Good luck with your meds! Is this your first cycle? Was it a fairly quick process for you as well, from getting referred to starting treatment? Hope it all goes well.

ClareLS · 14/04/2019 15:18

*ovulate regularly (not dearly lol!)

PennyBC26 · 14/04/2019 15:22

@ClareLS Yes it is my first. After all the blood tests and scans etc the process was really quick, probably about three months. Once I went to the patient information evening and filled in all of the forms it all went really quickly! xx

ClareLS · 14/04/2019 15:25

Thanks @PennyBC26 - that's really good to know! Xx

crisps88 · 14/04/2019 15:52

@PennyBC26 hey! Omg it’s beginning eeek !! Aw glad that you feel better about work, so I didn’t take two weeks I literally took a week off. I felt much better being in work honestly I’m just like that though. I took the Friday to the Friday off so back in the Monday it was good.

So how come they put you on letrazole? And also I didn’t have the scratch, I think it’s meant to be the most painful out of the whole ivf. I didn’t find anything else painful so don’t worry I think it’s more a little uncomfortable but you don’t even remember anything from the collection and the transfer is a breeze. X x x
