I'm ignoring it till it comes this time. You get less excited to get going again with every fail.. :(

I took a week after egg collection as I got 31 eggs so was sore for about 3-4 days then took a few extra to get over it. On natural FETs you need a few appointments close together at short notice too. X

PennyBC26 · 27/03/2019 20:57

@wanab yes, I think I will definitely take some time off, I'm a teacher so I think I'll need some calm at home! Wow, that's lots of eggs, I doubt I would get into double figures xx

crisps88 · 27/03/2019 22:41

@PennyBC26 I told work about a month before I knew I was going to have my first cycle, my boss is one of my really good friends so he’s really supportive. Time off is mostly short notice with appointments and then often adhoc meetings. I’m a primary teacher also and it’s really important to just be open and then receive more flexibility and support. The appointments are often more than not arranged at the appointment for the next week so it is important to tell your employer.

My egg collection was on Friday and transfer Wednesday so I had Friday to the next Monday off. Egg collection was fine and transfer were fine, nothing to worry about. The emotional side is so much worse.

How you feeling about everything? X x

crisps88 · 27/03/2019 22:50

@wanab it must be really frustrating and quite disheartening when it happens, but you seem really focused so it shows how strong and positive you are being. Hope it gets easier, glad you don’t have to wait long between appointments xx

wanab · 28/03/2019 09:06

Thanks @Crisps88.
My faith is helping me a lot this time round. The previous two I have buried the emotions and pushed myself to move on. This time I have chosen to face them but focus on my identity in Christ rather than the loss.
I hope you are doing ok too.
Who is your appointment with on Monday? I hope that afterwards you feel better for having a plan. Make sure you ask if you have any questions. Don't leave feeling you weren't just told what they'll do. That's my mistake. You may not get the answers you are after but I hope it helps you either way. Hugs. X

wanab · 28/03/2019 09:07

Sorry *feeling you WERE just told what they'll do.

PennyBC26 · 28/03/2019 19:46

@crisps88 I don't know about you but being surrounded by children everyday in school just makes me sadder knowing I'm struggling to have my own! I'm a mixture of emotions, excited and anxious! I just want to get started because by the looks of it, it is not going to happen naturally!xx

SarahC16 · 29/03/2019 13:55

I know how you all feel as I look after little ones in my job.
All went to plan this morning that little embie survived the thaw.
Praying it will third time lucky for us.
Had our transfer a few hours ago xxxx

crisps88 · 29/03/2019 17:07

@SarahC16 good luck!!! All fingers crossed for you wishing you the best luck xxx

wanab · 29/03/2019 17:35

@SarahC16 Everything crossed! X

crisps88 · 29/03/2019 19:01

@wanab , you sounds so strong and inspirational. I think it’s great to invest yourself in what heals you, and it’s comforting to hear you are progressing in your strength.

I’m ok, I am so up and down it’s crazy. I really really can’t know get back to myself I am feeling so many different emotions at the moment it’s really hard.

Keep up your faith and strength it’s so amazing to know you can still carry on being positive after your hardships.

Our appointment is with Dr Ellard, I know I feel like that I want to go out with concrete and personalised answers and outcomes but I don’t want to build my hopes up. Hope you’re ok. X x

wanab · 29/03/2019 19:21

Cool you'll be fine with him. I've not had a follow up with him but he's at least likeable! Hugs sweetie. You'll get there but if you aren't ready for go again then wait. X

crisps88 · 29/03/2019 22:14

@wanab I feel like I want to be ready, but i don’t think I am? Then I’m on my actual first period not forced bleed, started a couple of days ago and I’m a really emotional and sensitive person anyway. Does it sound stupid that I don’t even want to celebrate mother’s day because I had so imagined myself to Be pregnant.

Yeh he’s super nice, he really is. I just hope we get what we want out of the appointment. I hope so anyway! I’m glad yours isn’t too far away, do you think you’ll have an in depth review or feel like you want to try again straight away.

Lots of positive thoughts to you xxx

PennyBC26 · 29/03/2019 22:15

@SarahC16 good luck!! Hope you are relaxing! @wanab @crisps88 hope you are both ok too. AF is on its way because I started spotting today, for some reason I'd convinced myself that this could have been the month that I became one of those people who 'was about to start IVF and then fell pregnant naturally' obviously not meant to be. I think the realism has suddenly hit me today, either that or period hormones! xx

crisps88 · 29/03/2019 22:15

@PennyBC26 it’s so hard isn’t it. But hopefully one day we’ll all get there . We deserve to so much. I watched the documentary One More Shot onnNetflix tonight it was good, very emotional but I needed it! Give it a whirl maybe xx

PennyBC26 · 29/03/2019 22:58

@crisps88 Thank you for your kind words, nice to know I'm not the only one struggling. Ooooh thanks for the recommendation, I will most definitely watch it!xx

crisps88 · 30/03/2019 06:00

Hey @PennyBC26 we had literally replied to each other the same minute lol!! I am sorry to hear you have come on, I hate the significance of them! I totally agree!! I really thought with all the hormones in my body it might’ve kick started for me a natural pregnancy. But no of course not !!! I think before ivf each period that comes is just a another month closer to your first cycle though and it’ll be super exciting. Have you any dates for your next appointment xx

wanab · 30/03/2019 08:20

I’m going to see what they say and go from there. I think i’ll Likely go as soon as especially if medicated.

PennyBC26 · 31/03/2019 11:03

@crisps88 I've just made the day 1 phone call to the nurse, hopefully will get a call back with an appointment date. Having the hysteroscopy on Tuesday to see if the polyp is still there. Have you had a hysteroscopy?xx

crisps88 · 31/03/2019 13:55

@PennyBC26 no I haven’t had that, I literally haven’t had one test. I just got referred straight to ivf with only my say so on ovulation bloods as if changed doctors to my husbands to get treated as a couple so they weren’t on my records. That was it. Nothing else. No womb , ovary tests or clomid. Our specialist is amazing and just wanted us to try it first and foremost immediately. We were so lucky with him.

However with this, came that it was totally u unexpected and I had drank and ate myself in a Christmas crazy state to start ivf beginning of January! Of course you’ll never know what the cause of a failure is totally but I feel very responsible and wasteful.

I’m glad you are progressing how are you feeling about everything? Are you hoping it has reduced in size or disappeared or what would be the best outcome for you ? Xx

PennyBC26 · 02/04/2019 18:59

@crisps88 I had the hysteroscopy today...no sign of a polyp and everything looks as it should, phew! So I'm all set for my first cycle of IVF! I start taking Norethisterone on 15th, baseline scan and scratch booked in and egg collection booked for 13th May, I finally feel like everything is starting to move quickly! It's overwhelming and I'm anxious but trying to remain positive! How are you?xx

wanab · 02/04/2019 20:57

Pleased for you @PennyBC26. I hope it all goes well for you. X

PennyBC26 · 02/04/2019 22:12

@wanab Thank you! How are you?xx

crisps88 · 02/04/2019 22:55

@PennyBC26 that’s amazing news !! O god it’s come round so quickly hey. How are you feeling must be nerve racking but also so exciting that things are progressing at a rapid pace!!! Yay xx

crisps88 · 02/04/2019 23:02

I had our review yesterday. Basically there’s a mismatch in the follicles I had at my scan initially after the injections and then what was collected at the EC. So he is having a multi team disciplinary meeting about our case and will send out letter when he’s spoken to embryologist to find out what happened exactly.

Until then he’s recommended 75mg DHEA and to ring up next month on the first day of my next period (I’m just at the end now of my first natural period since IVF) and to begin our second cycle then. So mid May begins round 2, unless they find something.

He said I may have a degree of empty follicle syndrome, but the next cycle will be the determining factor if it doesn’t improve. So my meds he think we should maybe change and/or increase dose and to change the trigger also. He was just brilliant, he was so personalised and really interested.

My thyroid levels all came back normal and I asked for vitamin D test too. Just waiting for the letter to confirm all good to go ahead next month!! X x
