Fertility treatment- IUI

Hi, has anyone had IUI fertility treatment? We've been TTC for 3 years now. Had all the tests. We have a consultation tomorrow at the hospital about moving forward with treatment and we've been given an indication that IUI may be the best option to try first before IVF.

I'm just wondering if there's anyone out there who has been through this or is going through this.

Hi ttc, try not to stress, IUI is quite a simple process, o was relieved when I was having it done. It's not too invasive and if your on meds the trigger shot really isn't that bad but it i was really nervous when going my first one. But then I laughed at myself about it. When do you start? X

Ah thank you glad to hear it's not too bad waiting for af as only second cycle off pill so could be any time between now and another week or so but probably later this month as had a late positive on opk so don't think I ovulated til late I will be on meds just can't wait to start now wish af would hurry up

What meds will you be on ttc? It's daunting your first time, not knowing what to expect but it's not too bad at all. You'll have lots of bloods and scans on the way, the internal scans you get used to as well and before you know it. I was on clomid (50) and triggered with pregnyl.

Had my pre-op appointment today, sometimes these trips feel a waste of time. I know they aren't but..... had my blood pressure taken (again) bloods (again, and god knows what doe this time) and I was asked my weight and height.

I have to go back Thursday to see the anaesthetist x

When do you hope to start the cycle CSDS?

If AF plays ball it will be about 28th January. Then I have to go to the hospital straight away for bloods and scan (hate the thought of a scan whilst on AF) then I will hopefully be told I can start meds that afternoon. If I can't make it to the hospital on the day I need to go the day after.

I've got a new boss at work and I've had to tell her, she's been really good about it, said if at any point after any appointments I don't feel able to come into work then don't, I just need to text her. I thought that was fab. She said she understands it's a lot of prodding and poking. She was going through fertility but was lucky enough to fall pregnant before treatment started

I hated the idea of scans on AF but had them with IUI, I soon got used to it

So this is my final countdown week. AF due anytime between Thurs-Sun Eeeek, I'm excited and nervous.

I really hope AF isn't late, want to get this started. But the thought of starting the cycle is a little daunting. X

Exciting times for you Ttc!!
Drink 2 cups of ginger tea a day (or ground ginger with hot water) it helps induce a period ...... or you never know, you might be preggers x

Thanks have just made some ginger tea! Lol fingers crossed won't be long defo not preggers unless I'm the next Mary lol I'm waiting to do iui as a single woman :)

No offence taken at all! Sorry to hear your iui was unsuccessful is it iui you are going for this time or ivf wishing you lots of luck!

Thanks Ttc, ive moved onto IVF. Had 3 IUI and just became more conscious of my biological clock, plus my life feels on hold. At least now (for me) I've got it in my head that one way or another come June it's all over. I'll either be pregnant or we'll have drawn a line over it and gotten on with our lives. X

Ah no way I'm crossing all my fingers and toes for you praying you will be lucky and lots of baby dust this time! I'm gutted still no af rang clinic and they said to start taking norethistone to bring on bleeding as it's been so long now and no sign of my body doing it sad just fed up as by time have taken the stupid pills and waited for bleed it will be over two months since last period and I had it all planned in my head for this month sad plus the pills are meant to be horrible side effects especially mood swings which is no fun for my poor family tried parsley tea hot baths hot compress everything and no luck so looks like mother nature has won at the moment x

Ttc I feel for you, but try not to let it get you down, at least they didn't tell you to just wait. Besides, having a smooth baby journey is overrated 😂.

I know it's frustrating and it draws tears because your waiting and it seems so long and you just want to get started. But look at it that now you are getting started because you've got the tablets to take and the tablets mean definite AF and AF means IuI cycle is starting.

It might not seem a lot but to keep yourself sane in this journey you really need to hold onto every positive no matter how small.

That said..... ALWAYS come on here for a moan or to vent or even cheer x

Thanks so much I finally got af today without needing tablets! Wahoo lol got baseline scan booked for mon n then starting injections so all feeling a little bit real now eeeek! Really hoping we all get some good news soon and get some bfps to share on here keep positive csds and thank you for your positive words when I was feeling down x

TTC, that's fantastic news, glad AF has shown, I'm still waiting for mine.

I'm out this month totally gutted baseline scan showed lining was way too thick and possible polyp or blood clot so got to wait another month or 6 weeks till next flipping af decides to show to check if the thing still there if it is its a polyp then more money and procedures to sort it so not feeling very hopeful right now seems a long way off :( how u getting on csds hope u having more luck then me! X

Oh Ttc, what a pain, I feel for you. I never knew womb lining could be 'too thick', crazy that you have to wait 6 weeks or until af.

I've started my injections, started last night, two injections. I also had accupuncture and have another session booked in for next week. I'm due scans and bloods on Saturday x
