Fertility treatment- IUI

Hi, has anyone had IUI fertility treatment? We've been TTC for 3 years now. Had all the tests. We have a consultation tomorrow at the hospital about moving forward with treatment and we've been given an indication that IUI may be the best option to try first before IVF.

I'm just wondering if there's anyone out there who has been through this or is going through this.

Thanks

I'm in NE Scotland so woken up to a complete winter wonderland and blizzards all morning!

How are you feeling about things today?

snowy1982 · 08/12/2017 12:18

I’m ok today, injections started yesterday so once I start them I don’t allow myself any more moping, it’s positivity time now Smile

Not quite a full on winterwondeland here but some heavy snow on and off all morning. Tonight now it’s gloriously sunny but 10 mins ago you could barely see anything with the snow. Am thinking an early finish in work and home to have snowball fight with the dogs (I always win Grin)!

Hi ladies sorry for lack of contact. I've been ill.... still am, have been bedbound since Wednesday. Today is the first day I've been able to open my eyes properly hence why I'm now in touch.

I have no idea what is wrong with me thought I had a dry/tickly cough that’s turned into me having hot and cold sweats, throwing up, mucus at the back of my throat , headache and body aching all over.... so all in all I’m falling apart but I’m alive.

So next cycle begins snowy, stay positive.

Flora, I know it's not what you want but make the most of the break, enjoy Xmas and like snowy said, raise your concerns about your dosage x

CSDA, sorry to hear your unwell, hope your feeling better soon

snowy1982 · 12/12/2017 08:51

So, yesterday was not a good day. Had had a lovely weekend, got house all decorated for christmas and basically just relaxed with DH and the pups, was feeling very positive and content going to bed on Sunday night. Then yesterday I woke up in an almighty foul mood, was on the brink of tears all day, couldn’t concentrate on the smallest thing in work.

Does anyone else get days like this with the injections? Most of the time I seem to handle them alright then out of nowhere they just seem to cause me to explode.

Thankfully feeling better today, though am still very distracted. Roll on Thursday week until I finish up for Christmas, think I really need a week of so of just relaxing and doing nothing

snowy1982 · 13/12/2017 06:54

Thinking I might have a problem this cycle Sad. I normally feel pains when I ovulate and I felt the same pain last night (still have it this morning). Think I may have ovulated really early and DH is away at the minute so can’t even DTD just in case. He won’t be back until tomorrow. Other option is I am possible over stimulating as I’ve read that can cause pains. I can’t even call into clinic this morning for a scan to check things out as I have an important meeting first thing that I can’t delay.

Or the third option (and this is always a strong possibility) I am overreacting and all is good.

Grrrr, this process just makes me crazy sometimes

snowy1982 · 14/12/2017 08:32

So, as seems to be the case so often with all this, I was panicking for nothing yesterday. Scan this morning, good thick lining, one follicle 22mm and a number of small ones. IUI set for tomorrow

csds · 14/12/2017 11:37

That's fantastic snowy, I have my fingers crossed for you. Good luck for tomorrow.

How are you getting on flora? X

Thanks CSDS. At least this cycle I will have Christmas over the TWW to distract me.

Having to miss work Christmas outing tomorrow (which to be honest I’m not actually bothered about) so have to think of a good reason to tell my secretary

florafoxtrot · 14/12/2017 14:02

That sounds like a nice juicy follicle snowy - and probably explains why you were hyper aware of it - fx for you!

Hi cds - think we are going to have a month or so off before trying another round. We can't do anything this month as the labs are closed over Xmas and just feel like I deserve a wee break!

How are you?

snowy1982 · 14/12/2017 14:26

Flora, i’m thinking its because I had a lot more smaller ones than I normally do, usually there’s only 1 or 2 small ones that nurse even bothers measuring, today there were at least 6 small ones, none of them would be viable though, all around 11 or 12 mm

csds · 14/12/2017 17:03

I'm good thanks, I have the hospital next Friday to go through and sign all IVF paperwork and to go through the administering all the drugs. Time is going to fly, we have a lot on so 24/25 jan will be here in no time.

I'm still a bit anxious about it all, I guess it's the unknown. But other than that I'm good thanks x

Bit of a long shot here but did you ladies find that any of the hormones delayed your AF? I'm now a day late for what I would expect to be my normal AF but probably a good few days late if the clinic was correct and I ovulated earlier than they could do the IUI. I've not tested as frankly I can't be arsed with a BFN but just wondering if this is common? My last shot of Gonal F was 2 weeks past Monday!

csds · 21/12/2017 11:12

Yes I had been a day, two max but nothing more than that so hang in there. I hope you end up being REALLY late 🤗 xx

florafoxtrot · 21/12/2017 12:05

Thanks lovely. Hell knows what is going on but I'd really expect her to be here by now. Got a delightful mix of symptoms of both AF and pregnancy too!

csds · 21/12/2017 12:31

I have my fingers crossed for you. It would be lovely to have such fantastic news on this post. We've had some great success stories from people but to have one of us that are currently trying to fall pregnant would give everyone a boost I think. I don't want to get your hopes up but oh my.... fingers crossed hun x

Mine turn up late sometimes since starting treatment, never was before, but fingers crossed it’s late for all the right reasons Smile

florafoxtrot · 22/12/2017 09:13

Hey ladies. Just a quick update, happily I got a BFP yesterday, cannot believe I’m
one of those dickheads that joins a thread and gets pregnant straight away. But obviously the Gonal-F worked and gave my body the push that it needed. Beyond terrified but also very happy. I’ll keep up with this thread if that’s ok?

csds · 22/12/2017 11:48

Oh my god that's amazing, fantastic news just in time for Xmas. I'm really pleased for you, so glad it's worked.

Yes, please do. I've just been the hospital to sign all the legal paperwork for IVF, needed another blood test both me and hubby (god knows what for. I've got half of my medication so my fridge is full with that and I have a pre-op scheduled for 16th jan.

So did you test of did you have bloods? So what happens now do you just let your local dr know? X

snowy1982 · 22/12/2017 14:54

Congratulations Flora, that’s brilliant news Smile

CSDS sounds like IVF is moving full steam ahead, that’s great.

I’m in the 2nd half of dreaded TWW, thankfully with all the Christmas build up it has gone by in a flash so far, but then the first half is always the easiest

csds · 23/12/2017 10:22

There's so much information to take in, made harder with broken English. I won't lie, I think I'm a little scared. That said I'm looking forward to Xmas and we then have a fantastic holiday in Vegas and Washington with a wedding.

With Xmas here I think this second week will go quick for you, just stay occupied and throw yourself into the festivities. When is your tww up?

It's a magical month, would be nice if we made it 2 BFP on here xx

OP posts:
snowy1982 · 24/12/2017 06:32

I’m not surprised your a little scared CSDS, I am at the thought of IVF as well, it’s so much more intense that it’s bound to be scary, but it will all be worth it for the BFP!

Sounds like your going to be pretty busy with Vegas and the wedding, will be a good distraction.

So OTD is Friday, I think it is going to fly by
