Fertility treatment- IUI

Hi, has anyone had IUI fertility treatment? We've been TTC for 3 years now. Had all the tests. We have a consultation tomorrow at the hospital about moving forward with treatment and we've been given an indication that IUI may be the best option to try first before IVF.

I'm just wondering if there's anyone out there who has been through this or is going through this.

Thanks

Hi Deeee, sorry I don't know anything about that drug but I hope it works for you. 🤞

Ttc, I can imagine how angry and frustrated you must be feeling, one month to them feels like another year to us and like you say the money implication of it all if having to pay. Let us know how your scan goes, stay positive 🤞

I'm so annoyed iv ran out of gonal f pen half way through last night's dose so my nurse miscalculated that I would have enough even when I said I didn't think I would! Now I had a good follie on Tues 15 m so was meant to trigger today or tomorrow as have scan later but now holding out no hope for this cycle at all and it's not even my fault it's so unfair and iv wasted another month of meds money rang clinic this morning they didn't seem to care just said come to scan later see what's happening x

Hi everyone, I am hoping some of you lovely ladies can help me. Me and my oh have been trying to conceive now for nearly 6 months. I have not had a period in this time. I have had blood tests which came back in normal range however my testosterone levels were slightly high. My scan showed a few cysts on my ovarys might be PSO but everything else is in order. I have been to my go and I have been prescribed Norethisterone which I have to take 3 times a day for 3 weeks. Anyone had any experience of this drug helping fertility me and my other half are trying still 😔

No such insurance, it all went a bit Pete tong. I miscarried early hours of this morning.
It was almost 5 hours of agony, never felt anything like it in my life.
11:30 last night I started cramping really badly in my stomach and my back that turned into a type of contraction for almost 3 hours. The pain was unreal, then I was sick and had the shakes. then a few hours later I had what was like my waters break, this was soon followed by a flow of blood. The cramps eased. Managed to be able to finally lay in bed at 3:30. But had to wake at 5 to get ready for the hospital.
It was absolutely horrendous poor hubby tried his best but couldn’t do a thing for me. Had the procedure at the hospital to remove what was left, feeling ok just exhausted now, need sleep xx

Csds just a thought. Any chance you or dh have medical insurance from work? They might cover the ERPC. Standard bupa provided that for us and we were able to get it done privately under general without a wait. Worth checking x

I’m really sorry you’re going through this. I’ve had ERPC twice so can relate to some extent. I want to scream for you. It’s so unfair..

I'm not to bad thanks. As you can expect there are so many tears. I have to go back to the hospital on Wednesday for the op to remove the baby. Having a local anaesthetic which I'm not looking forward to, but it's too long to wait for a general. I'm dreading what it, feel it will mentally scare me. But hubby is going to be right next to me for the procedure so we'll go through it together.

How's everyone else? Cobblestones what's the latest with you? Xx

@cobblestones, actually I don’t know if there are any milestones at this stage apart from the ‘big’ scan. Have been feeling LO kick a bit more this past week, started feeling it a few weeks ago but wasn’t 100% sure what it was (I would say I am now 99% sure Smile) but it has been more frequent since mid last week.

Report
Cobblestones · 23/04/2018 08:34

All the best snowy! Is there any particular milestone associated with 20 weeks other than being the half way point? Over five years of trying I know so much about the first 12 weeks but almost nothing about anything beyond that. Fingers crossed I have reason to learn this year.

Csds - yayyy so exciting!! And I absolutely love your attitude. Btw I’m quite liking the mindful ivf app. Thanks for recommending it.

Ttc - I had two cycles of IUI late last year but I found the second one quite difficult with too many small follicles and it took ages for there to be a dominant one. I decided to not pursue any further with IUI and now waiting to start ivf. With no known fertility issues it sounds like a good idea to try atleast a few.

snowy1982 · 23/04/2018 07:35

@ttc2017, I got pregnant with IUI. It took 7 cycles, although I had a batch of 3 in 2016 then a batch of 4 in 2017 (makes me wonder if I had just paid for an extra one in 2016 if my LO would already be here).

Have 20w scan at 12 today, so excited and nervous at the same time

Hi tct,

I had three lots of iui then went for ivf. We were lucky enough to only need one cycle of ivf. I'm now 12 weeks pregnant.

As much as I've tried to stay positive the past 3 years it has been such an emotional journey, heartbreaking and soul destroying at times. I feel very lucky.

Fingers crossed with cycle 3 for you, put the last cycles out of your mind and focus on this one, positive happy thoughts 🤞❤️
