Fertility treatment- IUI

Hi, has anyone had IUI fertility treatment? We've been TTC for 3 years now. Had all the tests. We have a consultation tomorrow at the hospital about moving forward with treatment and we've been given an indication that IUI may be the best option to try first before IVF.

I'm just wondering if there's anyone out there who has been through this or is going through this.

Thanks

I can’t believe it, have been having normal pre AF symptoms last couple days so was convinced it would be negative, scared the life out of DH with my manic shouting at him to walk up. Need to try and stay realistic, obvs it’s still early days and anything can happen, but am grinning like a Cheshire Cat right now

csds · 29/12/2017 09:23

Ha ha, poor hubby. But it's fantastic news, really chuffed for you. Stay positive, yes it is early days but for now... wow, you're pregnant!!

I'm trying not to stress, AF is late and I've read that after IUI and IvF your first natural period can be late.... very late, we're talking 3 weeks to 45 days late. I can't be dealing with that, I really want to start IVF without further delay so feeling a little bummed that it's not shown on time. I'm definitely not pregnant. I've been googling to see if there's anything I can do to induce a late period, I've had sex, will have a hot bath and will get some emmenagogues herbal teas. X

Are you 100% sure there’s no BFP for you as well?

csds · 29/12/2017 10:40

I wish there was a chance but I'm definitely not pregnant. I had flu when it my fertile window. If I'm pregnant then I'm
changing my name to Mary.

If AF is going to be stubborn then it needs to play ball and be 3 weeks late so that I'm back from America.

I know it's not the end of the world but you know when you have a little plan. So I was going to have two natural cycles. First AF should have been 26th then the next around 25/26 of Jan when we'd start IVF.

Now we risk starting further into feb and as pathetic and ungrateful as it sounds i really don't want a baby close to Christmas but I have a gut feeling that if it's going to happen then that's what I'll get. I just know so many people who feel robbed having a birthday in December.

Anyway, enough about me. So is it just a case of telling your local dr now? Will you be sharing the news with anyone?

How you getting on flora?

Cobblestones I hope you're ok xx

I understand what you mean re having the plan, I get annoyed too when things don’t work out other way I want, it’s very frustrating.

Telling my mum and dad as mum knows today is test day so it’s either tell her or lie and I don’t want to do that. I have to contact clinic next week and they like to arrange an early scan then it’s back to GP care

csds · 29/12/2017 11:57

well congratulations again, your parents will be thrilled xx

Yeah CSDS, plan is back on track then Smile

florafoxtrot · 30/12/2017 18:28

Congratulations Snowy that is amazing news and so so pleased for you.

Glad AF stopped messing you about and your plan is back on track csds. It does help to have a bit of an idea what the next steps are and know that each day is getting closer to that ultimate goal.

I’m doing ok, obviously I’d never moan about being pregnant in light of where I am but will say that I’m just feeling very anxious a lot of the time as it really just doesn’t seem real. We’ve booked an early scan in a fortnights time to hopefully get some reassurance. Thank you for asking.

snowy1982 · 30/12/2017 18:35

Glad to hear things are still going well flora, you have to let us know how your early scan goes. My hospital does one for me before they sign me off to GP but won’t be for a few weeks yet

csds · 31/12/2017 15:16

Yes both, keep us updated with your next steps. Happy New Year xx

Hi CSDS, how’s things with you? You had your trip to Vegas yet?

I’m waiting on my early scan, it’s next Monday. Things still seem to be going ok, well no indications that they aren’t so that’s all I really have to go on

csds · 09/01/2018 22:31

Hi snowy, we've been to Vegas, we are now in Washington DC. Vegas was good, if you've not been it's a place that's worth a visit but for us it's not a place we'd return to. The Grand Canyon was amazing and we'd definitely consider a holiday to Arizona to hike or go water rafting though the canyon. But as for the strip, for us it was.... I can't even find the words, once you've been in one hotel they are all very similar, sooo many casino's, lots of designer shops and too much fatty food. That said, we did enjoy it and we're glad to have done it. Washington is more our scene, it's lovely, we've seen the White House, Capitol Hill, many monuments and museums. It's been as cold as -7 here so the lakes and reflection pools have froze over but with he sun out it's been beautiful. We've got another day here before we head to the wedding. X

Hi CSDS, Washington is amazing! We were there 7 years ago for a holiday and it was our favourite US city - even over NYC! Can't really imagine what it must be like in the winter though as we were there in September and it was really hot! Have you been to Arlington? I've never been to Vegas but can't say that it really appeals to me for some reason!

I have an early scan on Saturday. Feeling pretty anxious as my symptoms have reduced a lot over the last few days but no bleeding or anything to indicate anything is wrong either.

snowy1982 · 10/01/2018 09:56

I would love to go to DC some time, I would also love to just travel down the whole east coast, thinking it might be a nice 10 yr anniversary trip.

snowy1982 · 15/01/2018 11:12

So had my early scan this morning and all looking good, even got to see the heart beat

csds · 15/01/2018 17:05

Awh snowy that's lovely to hear. Guess it made it all real. Do you plan to find out what you're having?

I have an appointment tomorrow pre-op x

OP posts:
snowy1982 · 15/01/2018 17:30

It really did CSDS. At this stage we don’t intend finding out, but I guess that could change.

Hope your appointment goes well
