Hi all! I know there's a June/July thread but I've started this one as I'm so far behind everyone else and wanted to find others at the same stage as me!

We're due to start a FET after a failed fresh cycle in march resulted in a CP. We got 5 Frosties which I'm so pleased with and we're putting two frozen ones back this time.

AF came yesterday, so I'm booked in for scratch on 24th of this month and start DR on 22nd.

I joined a thread on my last cycle and it helped me so much as I am very private with all of this. So I'm hoping to find others to share with again 😊

Hi I'll come and join you. I start down regging on Monday, first cycle of IVF after 3 years TTC. I'm not really sure what to expect and trying not to get my hopes up as I'm prone to mc. How did you find the first cycle? I'm dreading feeling rubbish!

BiscuitBill · 05/07/2017 19:44

Hi whatamuddleduck 👋🏼
To be honest I didn't really have any side effects on my fresh cycle.. Just achy ovaries! But I think I was quite lucky. It's more the emotional roller coaster that got to me.
Sorry to hear about your miscarriages.. Do they have any idea what might cause them?

OP posts:
Whatamuddleduck · 06/07/2017 06:18

It really is a rollercoaster isn't it! I'm sorry you had a CP, it's so heart rending to be so close, but 5 Frosties sounds and 2 going in this time sounds good. Did you have a scratch on the fresh cycle?
Not sure what the cause of my mc's is. They put it down to just one of those things (massively unhelpful) but fertility consultant thinks it may be due to DP having morphology issues and my amtral count being low and possibly having some duff eggs. We are going for ICSI so that they can try and pick the best of what we have.
I'm veering between massively excited and utter dread at the moment. I've just started running again to keep me busy. Any tips for staying vaguely sane?

BiscuitBill · 06/07/2017 17:21

Yes I had a scratch on my first cycle.. I had already read that statistics show they work better with frozen cycles but thought why not.. What's an extra £250 on top of 5 grand?!

No tips I'm afraid 🙈 apart from something to keep you busy over the 2 week wait, as that really is the worst part! It's hard to keep the balance between staying positive & getting your hopes up! I think for anyone at our stage, we've had so much bad news by now it's hard to stay optimistic anyway!

Apart from that just make sure you have some one to talk to and support you, even if it's just on here! I found this a massive help last time and the other ladies were so lovely, I hope it helps you too!

Sorry you've not got an answer for your mc's.. I can imagine that's frustrating! How many have you had if you don't mind me asking?

OP posts:
Whatamuddleduck · 07/07/2017 22:09

Finally found a working phone charger!
That's why I went for the scratch too. I'd rather do it than add another "what if" to the pile.
3 mc. So I'm kind of hopeful that this may work but realistic too.
I'm quite excited to start injections on Monday now. Although poor old DP may end up doing it, I'm not quite sure I can stab myself with it!
How does the FET work? Is it just like the fresh cycle without egg collection? Or is it all different?

BiscuitBill · 08/07/2017 11:16

Did you get the pen to inject with? I don't think I'd be able to do it with out the pen 😖
I'm not quite sure tbh as this is my first one.. from what the consultant said, I down reg starting day 21 (22nd of this month) have the scratch on day 23, have a period, then put the frozen embies back around day 14.
3 mc, poor you x x I had an ectopic last year and it effected me massively.

OP posts:
Whatamuddleduck · 08/07/2017 22:13

There's a pen? No I have syringes and a quick talk through how to do it by consultant. I'm very likely to chicken out and get DP to do it.! He looks disconcertingly happy about stabbing me.
Oh I'm sorry to hear about your eptopic. It's so so hard to get that bfp and then for it not to be. No wonder if affected you. I try to be patient with friends who haven't experienced a loss. My best friend attempted to be kind after last mc by talking about her struggle to decide whether she wanted more dc or not. Thankfully many people have no clue, I really wouldn't wish a lose on anyone.
Whilst he doesn't generally show it DP is getting anxious about starting IVF now. He hid in the kitchen and washed up yesterday rather than talk about it (I wasn't aware he knew how!). Do you have a DP? Are they coping?
I have everything crossed that we are both lucky this time.

BiscuitBill · 09/07/2017 14:34

Yes a pen! It's so easy.. you push a button and it's over in seconds! You should definitely enquire! I thought every one got them to be honest, maybe this is why other people struggled more than me!

Yes I have a DP. He finds it hard as well, I am a lot stronger than him and it's usually me comforting him lol. That's not to say he hasn't been supportive, he definitely has. He went white when they suggested putting 2 back 😂

It's tomorrow you start isn't it? I can imagine the butterfly's you're getting!

OP posts:
Whatamuddleduck · 09/07/2017 21:47

I'll definitely ask about the pen! Yes, really excited to finally start! There's so much waiting and wondering that doing anything feels like a step forward. I can imagine his face at the thought of 2. DP did just the same when we gave consent for 1 or 2. How are you feeling about the possibility of two?sounds like a handful but also utterly fantastic to me!

BiscuitBill · 09/07/2017 21:54

I feel exactly the same.. Very daunting but I would be absolutely LOVE twins!
Good luck for your first injection! Hope it's not too traumatic x

thegamblersmrs · 10/07/2017 20:03

Think I might belong here! First injection, first time ivf 20th July.
What's a scratch? I stopped looking stuf up for a while as the clinic told me to ban myself from reading!

VillageFete · 10/07/2017 21:00

Hi Brew

I may belong here! I start my first cycle of IVF next month, period is due 10th August & I then ring my clinic and get the ball rolling.
I have secondary infertility, DD (nearly 8) was conceived extremely easily. Since her birth i've accrued a broken fallopian tube & PCOS Hmm

How expensive is IVF?! I can't believe it, eapecially for just one cycle. I'm not sure what to expect at all. I just hope we at least get some eggs to freeze incase it doesn't work.

meadowlark3 · 10/07/2017 21:41

Hi, I may belong here too. I'm 35, TTC #1 18 months, with one miscarriage and one ectopic (with a lost tube) so we've been put forward for IVF on the NHS. Nervous but eager to start the process Blush

I'm due to start my period any day now and will start down regulating on day 21. Not sure if I fit here or will need to start an Aug/Sept group?

BiscuitBill · 10/07/2017 22:22

Hi all & a huge good luck with your ivf journeys! You're more than welcome to jump onto this one.. the more the merrier!
All in all my first round of ivf cost about 5grand maybe just over. That was with consultation fees, sperm samples, blood tests, the actual ivf process and then the freezing of eggs afterwards.
The endo scratch is something they've been testing for a few years.. and although not scientifically proven, it shows strong evidence that it helps the embryo to implant. It's an extra £250 but that's nothing really I'm the grand scheme of things.
I'd say you fit in this thread meadowlark, the whole process takes roughly 6 weeks from day one of your first period.

BiscuitBill · 10/07/2017 22:23

How was your first day of injections muddleduck???

OP posts:
thegamblersmrs · 10/07/2017 22:50

Thanks biscuit. I'm with nhs and don't see the scratch thing written on my itinerary so probably not having that. Interesting though.

Whatamuddleduck · 11/07/2017 06:11

Hello everyone! How lovely to have more of us!
First day of injections was ok. We had a panic about how much I was meant to have, half a ml looks a lot in a syringe, DP couldn't do it so did if myself. It stings a bit doesn't it!

Has anyone looked at the Zita west books and IVF recipe book? I was running to keep my mind off all the what ifs but have done something to my back. I'm thinking that trying out some recipes might work but I don't want to get obsessive about it and start worrying that not having x y X exotic ingredient might cause the IVF to not work. Any other recommendations for mind occupying activities?

thegamblersmrs · 11/07/2017 06:27

Is there anything of interest in the recipe books duck?
I was planning on sticking with the info from Chinese doctor that women who wish to conceive should consume only hot things! 2 weeks of hot stuff for me.
My worry is I pee constantly, multiple times an hour. I'm worried im losing lots of valuable minerals that way so I'm crossing my legs. Tmi!

FloofyFloo · 11/07/2017 09:40

Hello! Can I join please?
I have my first ivf appointment today and don't know what to expect at all!
We went from expecting clomid for poly cystic ovaries, to the news sperm count was low and they wanted to retest with the expectation it would improve and maybe try iui... To 'icsi and your first appointment is in 3 weeks'
I've managed to wrap my head around it a bit, but I don't know what's going to happen today, or following! Because of the pco I don't have any sort of regular cycle so I'm guessing they might scan me to see where I am now or maybe just down reg or WHO KNOWS!?
Anyway, it would be really nice to have people on the same boat through all this Smile imagine if we all got bfps!!!!!

thegamblersmrs · 11/07/2017 10:22

Floo, no idea what to expect today but hope all goes well!
We had a few 'pointless' appointments which left us deflated but seems all systems go now.

GirlcalledJames · 11/07/2017 11:34

Hi all, just got a BFN from my first cycle today so will start another GnRH-agonist stimulation protocol around 10 August, which would mean EC about the 20th. Looking forward to some sushi and a cold cider tonight after a month of deprivation!

BiscuitBill · 11/07/2017 11:43

So sorry James, big hugs ❤️
I remember you from previous thread, I posted briefly before starting this thread. Enjoy your cider & fish and then get back up & at em!

Not sure how it works for you Floo, but the whole point of down regging is to control your cycle, so I'm sure they'll have the answer! Be sure to let us know what they say.

Glad your injections are going ok Duck. Once the first ones out the way it gets easier every day! I must admit I've never really looked into any special diets, but I might give it a go! Currently on amazon having a look but there are so many 😩 where do I start?!

thirtyplusone · 11/07/2017 15:37

Hello! Can I join in please :)

Not clued up on all the acronyms here (can someone fill me in!?.

I'm 31, on long protocol on day 7 of the pill. First scan coming up and injections hopefully starting on the 27th.

We're under the Lister Clinic in London, Endo & PCOS sufferer with 2 very blocked tubes so straight to IVF for us but positive about the lister success rates for our age group.

Feeling very miserable and unwell on Cilest pill, having never taken any birth control its a bit of a shock to the system Blush Normally very active but feel like I cant put one foot in front of the other this week.

Nice to meet you all!

Whatamuddleduck · 11/07/2017 21:46

Hi everyone! Welcome thirty.
I'm rubbish at acronyms so I'll let somrone else take on the explanation rather than spread my confusion.

Gamblers- 2 weeks of hot food sounds like an interesting idea, maybe not so good on the recent weather but would suit me today. To be fair we've had the log fire on tonight it's that damp here.

The zita west book is on order, biscuit I'll let you know if it's any good. Anything to fill the time and give me something to focus on.

Just had a ridiculous discussion with DP about whether or not to buy 6 nations tickets and go to Italy in Feb. DP pointed out that I may be a 'massive blimp' by then, cue wailing 'but I might not be a blimp- Waaah'. Ffs- someone may have to hand me a grip!

thegamblersmrs · 11/07/2017 21:59

Duck, that's the worst isn't it. We've had invites to go on a cruise, one to Spain, vegas for new year and ed sheeran tickets which by calculations would be a mad dash to get stiched up to make it if things work out! If they don't I've missed out on loads.
The hot food is fine, I can live with that. I live in a land that the sun forgot. It's he constant hot drinks, he suggested only boiled water but can drink at room temp. I exercise a lot. Can't imagine being in spin class reaching for my hot water!
