IVF Cycle Buddies July/August

Hi all! I know there's a June/July thread but I've started this one as I'm so far behind everyone else and wanted to find others at the same stage as me!

We're due to start a FET after a failed fresh cycle in march resulted in a CP. We got 5 Frosties which I'm so pleased with and we're putting two frozen ones back this time.

AF came yesterday, so I'm booked in for scratch on 24th of this month and start DR on 22nd.

I joined a thread on my last cycle and it helped me so much as I am very private with all of this. So I'm hoping to find others to share with again 😊

It never crossed my mind to ask him to do them as if I even talk about anything that happens at work (hospital) the colour drains from him!
I was quite pleased with the stats and I'm a very pessimistic person so that's saying something.
I'm feeling very achey but thinking that might have been spin and yoga last night. Going to body combat tonight then I'll give the exercise a by for a few days.

chivintassle · 20/07/2017 16:47

Did someone say they had a place to do cheap blood tests? I need one doing and would rather pay less!

Whatamuddleduck · 21/07/2017 07:23

How exciting gamblers! It just feels good to get going doesn't it?

Oh thirty, what a worry. As others said it's very probably fine. Best get it checked out though as the treatment for any concerning cells is super quick and the alternative isn't one anyone should chance. Do keep talking about it. Do you know what will happen next?

thegamblersmrs · 21/07/2017 08:03

It does feel good duck was starting to feel like a fraud on here.
Thirty Any update, hope you're doing ok.
Chivin sorry I've no idea re bloods.

Missmeluk · 21/07/2017 14:25

So of on holiday next week and got to take my meds with me (aggggghhhhhh) Has anyone had any problems taking them on a flight? I have got a letter from the clinic but still not sure whether to put them in my hand luggage or suitcase.

thegamblersmrs · 21/07/2017 15:42

Miss not sure. My cousin needs lots of strong meds and seizure equipment and my auntie always takes them in hand luggage as she'd be worried that the luggage in the hold may not arrive. Very different with sharps I suppose. Can you phone the airline?

I've not got my injections so don't know how they come, if the injections are separate to the viles can you keep the viles on you and the injections in the hold. If worst comes to it you can go to a local hospital with your letter?

FloofyFloo · 21/07/2017 17:32

@duck, your crash sounds horrible, glad you are ok! Re:injections, the first day it was like a hot knife through butter, every other day I've had to push - I hate it! And yesterday I had a big red rash come up, very annoying!

@thirty I hope the smear works itself out! My fingers are crossed for you! Do get it checked though as I'm guessing treatment is easier/less risky if not upduffed.

@gamblers YAAAAAAAAAAAY welcome on board the moody bus! Did you have all your injection in one? How was it? (apart from the grey DP!)

I'm in a panic as my day 0 scan is booked for Tuesday, but my period (following norethisterone) arrived yesterday, and has gone today... So by Tuesday I'll be 4 days after period stopped... I don't know if this is ok or not, and I the clinic is shit so I can't talk to the nurses!

I was also 3 hours late with my buserelin injection on Tuesday which isn't ideal, but I'm hoping I haven't ruined everything. I haven't been able to call the nurses to check any of this because of work so I'm having a bit of a meltdown week!

thegamblersmrs · 21/07/2017 17:57

Yep all in one go and seemed to be ok, touch wood I'm feeling just normal.
I'll have a period 29th-3rd Aug roughly and my first scan is 7th August.
Apparently I do nothing until the 7th and after that scan I'll probably start my injections and the he nasal spray on 13th.

We are currently driving as far north as you can possibly imagine so hopefully all will be ok as there's nothing in sight for miles!

I asked if I could have 1/2 wines at the wedding or if DP could at least. I was scorned.

BiscuitBill · 21/07/2017 19:58

Hey ladies, hope everyone is ok!
Thirty so sorry to hear you're having such a terrible time 😔 i feel like we have all been through so much already, what more can life possibly have to throw at us?! Fingers crossed that your repeat test results are all clear 🤞🏼

Gamblers how exciting you've taken the first step! Hope first injection wasn't too traumatising! They get easier I promise!

Missmel I don't know about holiday, but I remember some one from a previous thread mention about a letter from hospital.

Floo I'm also having a bit of a meltdown.. I went to get my prescription today, came home and realised I didn't know what I was supposed to be taking, how much, and when?! Now the clinic is closed (by phone) and is a 45 minute drive! I think I'm supposed to start on Sunday which is Day 21 but I'm just not sure!! Will have to take a drive over tomorrow to double check 🤦🏻‍♀️

Hope everyone else is ok, sorry if I've missed anyone out, our group is getting so big now!

@gamblers does the prostap down reg and also induce a period then? Or is that when your period is due anyway?

I hope your journey has gone well! Enjoy the weekend! When you say scorned do you mean they said you can't drink at all!? And DP too!? Mine said I should, but I guess it is different medicine...

My day 0 scan is on Tuesday and I guess if I haven't screwed up the timing I'll start stims then... Which is more injections coupled with continuing buserelin injections - I'm going to be a pin cushion!!!

@biscuit what are you taking? I have to take 0.5ml of buserelin daily (I believe that's the standard amount)until they tell me to stop and 1 5mg norethisterone tablet 3x a day for 7 days.

I had a piece of paper with it all written out on - do you maybe have it but have put it away? On the back it said to begin buserelin on day 21 (so that sounds right to me, although my case was a bit different because of my stupidly irregular periods - I was actually on day 20 though which is close!) Or the information might be on your prescription too?

Also is the clinic open for phone calls tomorrow? Driving 90mins is such a pain if you have to do it, but worth it for peace of mind!

Floo she basically looked at me like I'd pissed on Christmas tree. She couldn't even look me in the eye when I asked. I then said what about DP and she said both of you. We certainly didn't intend to get 'drunk' just a couple of wines. Red- what's good for the heart is good for the womb and all that.

I know a girl that had treatment at the same clinic and happens first time both unexplained infertility and around the same age so I've text her.

It may well be they make that rule as they don't know what people will do if it's flexible where as I know that I'd have a couple today and no more for the rest of the process.

The prostap I think is the same as burselin as it seemed to have two names on the box. It's one single injection to 'bring on menopause' I'm not sure what 'down reg' means but sounds like that's what it is.

BiscuitBill · 22/07/2017 11:00

I had all that first time round, along with injection lessons etc.. This time they just assume I know what I'm doing 😕 the clinic is open over the weekend but don't answer the phone which is pretty annoying, I've left an answer phone message so hopefully they'll get back to me, other wise I'll just start tomorrow morning!
I'm back in on Monday for my scratch to I'll just ask then. I've still got all the details from last time - buserelin 0.5 same time every day before 9am - so well just go with that and hope for the best 😬

Hi hello.

Radio silence sorry, thank you for the lovely messages Flowers

Been referred for a colposcopy which I'm having Thursday evening, and I think I hear then about treatment. Everything crossed for no treatment and we can carry on. Could go either way 😐

Had my nurse consultation and all being well were starting injections Tuesday (I think).

Anyway. What's one more invasive probing session eh Wine I think I get to watch it on a screen? Confused

Hope all is well. Sorry I've lost track a bit of the thread x

thegamblersmrs · 23/07/2017 01:44

That's good news that it's not holding things up and you get to start injections Tuesday. Who knew we'd be excited to be injecting ourselves.

Well I had 1 prosecco and 2 red wines. I can safely say I'm officially off drink, I do not feel good at all.

BiscuitBill · 23/07/2017 12:30

I started injections this morning 🎉
And must admit I was excited for them 😂

Glad you're going ahead with original dates thirty and it's not holding things up!

I've got my scratch tomorrow which I'm not looking forward too 😣 OH was supposed to be coming with me to hold my hand but has been called back to work so I'll have to go alone. I was on my own last time, but now I know what to expect I really wanted him with me this time! Never mind.

Leanne1185 · 23/07/2017 17:06

Hi all can I jump on here please 😊 We are about to take part in our first IVF, I have had my prostap on Tuesday and hopefully AF will come tomo so I can start my injections! I'm so excited but extremely nervous too 😬 Last year we had 4 IUIs, our first one worked but we lost our angel at 13 weeks so I'm really anxious about it not working but also if it works have no idea how to get through the first 3 months of pregnancy! Is it normal to be like this? Any tips for relaxation? I'm trying to keep busy! I love reading all your stories and it's so comforting to be in this with others!

Xxx

thegamblersmrs · 23/07/2017 17:53

Welcome Leanne! You're on prostap too, think we are the only ones that bad that.

I have no idea how anyone relaxed at all in any pregnancy, think you just have to not let it consume you. Easier said than done.

Hope the journey is smooth this time. Flowers

Leanne1185 · 23/07/2017 18:00

Thanks gamblers, how have u been since prostap? I was fine but today had hot sweats like I'm going through menopause, maybe just because my periods due tomo bit don't usually get them 🤔 Have u started injections yet? I just want to get going 😂

thegamblersmrs · 23/07/2017 18:08

I feel fine, had a few times I've not felt great but can relate it to other things so don't think I'm getting any side affects.
Dreading af though as something tells me it might be a bad one but then it's only a few days out of my life. I won't start injections until after 7th August so a wee while to wait.
Do you start your injections when af arrives?

Leanne1185 · 23/07/2017 18:15

Yeah I'll be on menopur for a couple of weeks then go for scans etc to c follicles and monitor my egg production etc, my EC shoulder be around 2/3 weeks times hopefully! What do u take on 7th August? Xx

thegamblersmrs · 23/07/2017 18:19

7th August is my first scan then they will decide if I can start injections. all being well I'll start them on 7th and then nasal spray on 13th.

There's so many different protocols and every clinic seems to do things so differently, I've only learned that from reading so many of these forums and being told off when asking random questions at my appointments!

It's mad wanting af to come isn't it when we've spent years not wanting it to come!

BiscuitBill · 23/07/2017 18:24

Welcome Leanne! And congrats on getting started! Such an exciting time but also very nerve racking. So sorry to hear about your mc 😔 I must admit it's something I think about a lot and absolutely dread. However I've never even managed to get pregnant (if we don't count the ectopic & CP) but it's still something that keeps me awake at night.

Leanne1185 · 23/07/2017 18:28

I know gamblers I'm used to crying every time AF comes now I'm wishing she'd hurry up 😂 We had to take a few months away from treatment biscuit as myself and my husband got ourselves really down about it so we have now dusted ourselves off and are ready to go again! I try not to think bout it and now just keeping busy is key! If u haven't tried it try the mindful ivf app it's quite good and I listen to it every night to relax xx

thegamblersmrs · 23/07/2017 18:33

Good idea Leanne to give yourself some time out. It could drive you insane and I can completely see how it could breakdown relationships.

Started listening to the mindfulness for ivf the other night and trying to do yoga daily

We'll get there.
