Hi Smile

I noticed there's a IVF thread for March/April and now June - but no May.

My egg collection is scheduled week commencing the 15th May. On my next period (due around 3rd April) I have to go down for my bloods.
Anyone else?

lily only got one round of NHS, now paying, gone to a clinic in London.
karen hmm 8 follicles with 3 eggs. I had 6 follies and 8 eggs albeit not all mature. My new consultant asked who did my last EC and implied that to get more eggs than follies was good. Maybe your consultant didn't get them all?? That's just a wild guess btw.

Oh one other thing for those with BFN, I had 3 follies month after my BFN, showed on scan with new clinic, so make sure you keep trying naturally, as if you're the same then increased chances. Didn't work for me but good excuse for you to try 😂

I know, I wasn't really sure what happened unless I started to ovulate before they did EC? I don't know? Plenty of questions to ask. Because I was using a satellite clinic for scans etc we only actually went to my clinic for EC and et so I'd never met that consultant before, one of the downfalls I suppose?

But good advise for trying naturally, really want to give that a good go next month as we haven't tried naturally since I had a polyp removed.

Just wondering how everyone here has been doing? X

79Karen · 11/10/2017 08:42

Hi Ash lovely to hear from you, how are you doing? How many weeks are you now? I’m actually going for egg transfer for cycle 2 today and I can’t believe how different this cycle has been. After my pretty poor 1st cycle the consultants were great and changed their whole approach, this time I did the short protocol with max dose Stims, we also had icsi too. EC was last Friday and I got 7, 5 fertilised and as far as I know are still going for a day 5 transfer today. Last time we got 1 and had a day 2 transfer. Still can’t quite believe we’ve made it to day 5.

Elle and Lily are you still around? How are you both?

Ash75454 · 11/10/2017 09:17

That's amazing Karen best of luck today and please keep us posted.
I'm good. 22 weeks now and I think it's just finally starting to feel real. Had a terrible cold last week but other than that have been really lucky, feeling good very little symptoms.

Lily35 · 11/10/2017 09:36

Hi ladies - yes I'm still here, plodding along!
I start cycle two this month and I'm so scared!
Karen - you give me so much hope though! Did you take supplements? Fingers crossed for your transfer!!!!!!
Ash - glad your pregnancy is going well!
Lovely to hear from you all xx

79Karen · 11/10/2017 09:54

Hi Lily good luck for cycle 2, are you doing anything differently from last time? Supplement wise I’ve only had the recommended folic and vitD I’ve also just been taking a multi vitamin with iron which I’d never done before. Also found that my thyroid was under active so have been on medication for that. I think really it was getting the stims right that’s made the difference and the icsi though my husband was always told his sperm we’re fine, who knows?

And Ash 22 weeks, glad you’re beginning to feel a little more relaxed now, I know if I ever get to that stage I will be a nervous wreck

Lily35 · 11/10/2017 10:06

I've been on DHEA, Ubiquinol, Pregnacare, extra vitamin C and D, Maca, B50 Complex and royal jelly.
My recent scan showed 31 follicles which is 'better than average' apparently but can't get my hopes up as my quality was so bad last time that I know something must be wrong!
They switched my from long to short too - and upped my stims to 225iu this time.
Do you think that worked for you then? You've given me so so much hope :)

Ash75454 · 11/10/2017 10:07

Good to hear from you too Lily if interested I took L-arginine 500mg capsules 2 in morning and 2 in evening (2g in total) until about week 11. It's meant to help endometrial thickness and quality.

Also NAC enhanced anti -oxidant meant to support liver function and balance toxin and hormones in body. 1 a day initially increased to 2 once conceived until 12 weeks. Both made by allergy research and available from Nutri-Link website but I'm sure other places too.

Fingers crossed for you too on this round.

Lily35 · 11/10/2017 10:08

Oh and I had scratch yesterday too!

Thanks Ash - both of those are in my Pregnacare so I didn't up them but will look into them for next round xx

79Karen · 11/10/2017 10:45

31 follicles is amazing, can you remember how many you had before? I’m 38 and had about 13 I think but not all of them responded to the stims. How did you find the scratch? I had it too and actually screamed out loud, very embarrassing.

Lily35 · 11/10/2017 10:48

About 10 on each but they did say each clinic counts differently so can't rely on it too much and also I hope this means I don't get OHSS!!
I found scratch to be fine. It was funny sensation and was crampy but I had no pain. I was waiting for it to come and it didn't! I love that you screamed out loud! The poor nurses Grin

elle77 · 11/10/2017 11:32

Ladies- so lovely to hear from you. Sounds like cycle 2 is so much more positive- that is amazing. Biggest fingers crossed for you all.

I had my 20 week scan this morning and everything is 'normal'! Not feeling ill or sick- Just fat!!!!

Lily35 · 11/10/2017 11:35

Congratulations Elle!

79Karen · 11/10/2017 12:08

That’s great news Elle, so pleased for you

Lily35 · 11/10/2017 20:29

How was transfer karen?
What were the egg numbers? Xx

79Karen · 12/10/2017 09:37

Morning, egg transfer was very smooth yesterday, we requested a harder outer catheter this time as last time she said the soft one kept bending and I had a feeling it impacted our chances, this time it was over in seconds. So we had 3 that made it to blasts and 2 were top quality so we decided to put them both back to give us the best chance. The other is being grown on a further day to see if it suitable for freezing. And now we wait

79Karen · 12/10/2017 09:38

When do you start cycle 2?

Lily35 · 12/10/2017 09:56

That's amazing! I wish you all the luck in the world!
I start on next AF, in about 10 days!

79Karen · 12/10/2017 10:24

I found that the short protocol flew by compared to doing long, I hope everything goes well for you, keep us updated

Lily35 · 12/10/2017 10:42

It's been a whirl wind! I moved my funding to a private clinic which took a while but meant I could get myself ready. But since I've been under their care it's been so quick! The timings for short are so different!

79Karen · 12/10/2017 12:02

I much preferred the short, my body just didn’t like the shutting down process. Had a call from the embryologist the 3rd blast expanded overnight and was showing signs of hatching so has been frozen (given a 5ab) I can’t believe how different this cycle has been.

Lily35 · 12/10/2017 13:18

That's amazing!
Did you have a review after last round? Mine was so bad - they wanted me to use donor eggs this time. Think that's why I'm so nervous as I am risking own eggs again x

79Karen · 12/10/2017 14:13

Yes we had a review shortly after I got the bfn, as I only had 1 egg fertilise and a 2dt she couldn’t really say much about quality but I did really worry too, was all ready to ask about donor eggs. Suggesting DE after 1 cycle though seems a little harsh, did you have icsi?
