Hi Smile

I noticed there's a IVF thread for March/April and now June - but no May.

My egg collection is scheduled week commencing the 15th May. On my next period (due around 3rd April) I have to go down for my bloods.
Anyone else?

Am getting a bit stressed now as had appointment on Monday and decided to start downregging for FET this cycle but that means I need the drugs next Tuesday, need to order them but haven't heard back from the clinic despite emails and leaving voicemails... what if I can't get the drugs in time - anyone know if you can get norethisterone easily?!

moggle · 12/04/2017 16:03

Yes I think so it's a pretty standard drug, I'm sure it'll be at any pharmacy. I remember my dad ringing the doc to get it prescribed for me when I was 14 about to go on a school outward bound trip and I was due my period!
I'm sure the clinic will get back to you. Maybe try and forget about it for today (ha fat chance!) and ring again tomorrow morning. xxx

broodynmoody · 12/04/2017 16:14

I start my down regging a week on Saturday. Will they tell me the dosage I'm on then? I have PCO but low AMH of 14 so I'm a bit dubious as to what dosage I'll be on. Cos they won't want to over stimulate but not enough Confused

maplebaby · 12/04/2017 17:36

Blackcherries is your clinic nearby / could you pop in? When did you email / call them? Hopefully they will get back to you soon and you should be able to just pop in to pick up the prescription! Are they open over the weekend / bank holiday?

Broody I don't know my dosage for stims yet either, they tell me when I go in for my scan when my AF starts after finishing the norethisterone! Maybe it's the same for you?

broodynmoody · 13/04/2017 09:50

Yeah maple, ill ask next week before I start down regging see if they have any idea but they'll probably tell me on my baseline scan. Oh them waiting

maplebaby · 13/04/2017 10:35

Hope you managed to get your prescription blackcherries!

moggle · 13/04/2017 10:58

broodynmoody it's 3 years ago now but my AMH was 13 (no PCO) and i think I was started on dose of 150. I responded well so they dropped the dose to 100 for the last few days so that I was still on for the scheduled egg retrieval. I had mild OHSS even with that. Hopefully your AMH won't cause problems. Do you know your follicle count?

broodynmoody · 13/04/2017 14:17

moggle I'm thinking they'll start me off on a lose/mild dose. My consultant did say although 14 is low for PCO, it's not too low of a score in general. I'll sure he said on US scan there was like nearly 30 lcysts on one ovary! I just don't want to not respond or over respond and cancel the cycle Sad

notsusan · 14/04/2017 22:24

good to hear your various stories on who you've told. seems that we're quite unusual in not having told anyone (apart from mum, who always says the wrong thing!) even now, which is what I suspected. it was surprisingly easy to forget once dd was born.

Yes @flirty, can be tough holding all the worry and stress between the two of us, but at the same time, it's nice not to have to answer any questions at the wrong time too. swings and roundabouts I guess....

I understand what you mean re childcare though @moggle, so far we've managed, but I've now started drugs and egg transfer might be tricky if it's not on a childminder day 😕. looks like it will be end of April actually now, so maybe I'm on wrong thread, we have one frostie to answer your question, but decided after advice to start the process completely anew. hope it was the right decision! nice that people have confided in you as a result of being open. I actually got talking to a couple of women in the waiting room today for bloods and it was really nice even to talk to strangers!

@Blackcherries, hope you managed to get hold of a pharmacy

Yorkshireyogi · 15/04/2017 17:49

Hi everyone, hope I can join too?

I'm expecting to start my first ivf cycle in may-expecting period end of April.

I'm involved in endometrial scratch study too, I've just ovulated this month so am waiting to book in my scratch after bank holiday weekend...hopefully it's not too uncomfortable as I'm going to work straight after! Is anyone taking time off work during the cycle-I'm not sure what to do?

moggle · 15/04/2017 19:09

I just had period type pains after mine so I could've worked after; however I was given a painkillingsuppository which gave me diarrhoea so I probably wouldn't have!
For my fresh cycle I booked a day off for the egg retrieval which was on a Monday but ended up having 4 days off as I was pretty sore after (had 19 eggs retrieved). Embryo transfer was on a Saturday but I would've taken the day off. Didn't take any other time off.

maplebaby · 15/04/2017 22:27

Welcome yogi - good luck with the scratch. I'm going to try it if this cycle doesn't work out! I'm planning of taking off at least a couple of days for EC and probably for ET too but otherwise I don't think so!

blackcherries · 16/04/2017 09:50

thanks all, got it sorted in the end. It's because they didn't send me the a copy of the drug order form like they did last time and DH called to check up and due to how things are run between private hosp/NHS they gave him the wrong drug company so when he called them they hadn't received an order which got us worried! All ok though as had been ordered with the right one.
Doesn't look like I'm ovulating this month (cycle after IVF CP) so choosing controlled cycle was probably a good idea.

maplebaby · 18/04/2017 10:01

Glad you got it sorted blackcherries!

Took my first norethisterone tablet this morning! Eep.

flirtygertiefromnumber30 · 18/04/2017 12:24

maplebaby I start next month...the beginning of May. Hope you are feeling OK after the first day!

Hi yorkshire I think we might be on a similar timeframe. I was planning to take a day off for the egg collection although depends how I feel afterwards, probably a day for the transfer just so I can relax at home afterwards and not have to deal with work, and then my husband and I were going to take the second week of TWW off to do nice relaxing stuff to avoid the stress (a bit!). I wasn't sure what to do either but the clinic suggested most women found the second week the hardest so I thought it might help to be off work.

Has anyone here tried acupuncture? Our clinic recommended it and I had a couple of sessions but I HATED it, it really hurt! And I just felt stressed lying there with all these painful needles stuck in me so I couldn't really see it helping!

flirtygertiefromnumber30 · 18/04/2017 12:25

Oh and glad you got all sorted blackcherries!

maplebaby · 18/04/2017 13:50

Flirty I did acupuncture for a few months but didn't think it was for me and it was expensive so I stopped. I didn't find it too painful but know what you mean when it tweaks a point! Feeling fine but only taken one! Ask me again next week I might feel differently haha! Especially as I'll be starting buserelin too.

I'm trying to drink lots of water - I'm not. Wry good at it usually so forcing myself!

Yorkshireyogi · 18/04/2017 17:36

I did acupuncture while waiting for initial NHS referral for infertility Investigations. At that point I'd not had AF for 3 months and lo and behold the day after the first session it arrived-v bizarre! I kept it up for about two months-weekly sessions at bloody £60 a pop and then the disgusting Chinese herbs that were given alongside it. I found the needles quite uncomfortable but usually managed to relax myself and nod off eventually. Once I got a diagnosis of PCOS and started clomid I gave it up as £60 seemed pricey for a weekly nap...
Having said that I wouldn't be averse to trying again-maybe if this round doesn't work...!

moggle · 18/04/2017 19:46

flirty I did it with first cycle, I had been doing it since autumn and we had the cycle in the February. It was pretty relaxing but I don't know if it helped... I did respond well though and got pregnant first time so can't have hurt. Our three frozen cycles we really couldn't afford it but I have scraped together some money to have a couple of sessions as we are throwing everything at this attempt - endo scratch, and putting two embryos in. So I still won't have any idea whether it worked or not!!

moggle · 18/04/2017 19:48

Oh- meant to add, I wouldn't do it if you haven't enjoyed t in the past. I really think most Of the benefit (maybe all...) is the relaxation. You could try reflexology?.

chivintassle · 18/04/2017 22:48

Hi, can I join pls... just back from clinic and dr did first shot of buserelin for me! Was not expecting that!! Just happened to be 5 days before AF and he said could start! Got Day 0 booked in for 2 may and EC w/c 15 may...
in terms of background, 1 mc at 12w (3yr ago) and few chemicals since. Am 39 and been TTC for 5y+, and always hoped it would just happen (and been in NHS system for 18m!) clomid didn't work...
I'm sorry all you lovely ladies are here too, wishing you all big luck and great chemistry!

maplebaby · 19/04/2017 10:18

Hi chivin sorry for your losses Flowers
You're a week ahead of me - i add buserelin on Tuesday!

Lily35 · 19/04/2017 14:37

Hi everyone can I join?
I got accepted today for first round of IVF. Bloods and scan tomorrow, needle teach on 4 May and due to start injecting 9 May. I might be a bit behind everyone?

TTC #1 for 3.5 years
I'm 36, OH 45
1 natural BFP in Aug 2015 after 18 months which ended in m/c. Nothing since.
Docs now class me as unexplained after telling me during the last 2 years that I have cervical stenosis, hydro in both tubes - and apparently all is in fine.

Sorry not sure where everyone is up to on here - I'll start to read to catch up.
Good luck everyone :)

Lily35 · 19/04/2017 14:40

I agree with Moggle on the acu - only do it if it does relax you. I have tried it and found it twinged a bit but am going to persevere this cycle as it's round the corner and easy to get to. Reflexology I've heard is amazing !

maplebaby · 19/04/2017 19:37

Welcome lily - sorry to hear about your mc Sad I think most of us are currently downregging / about to - are you stimming from 9th May or downregging?
