Hi Smile

I noticed there's a IVF thread for March/April and now June - but no May.

My egg collection is scheduled week commencing the 15th May. On my next period (due around 3rd April) I have to go down for my bloods.
Anyone else?

Hi toffee! Can I join? I'm waiting for my April period before I get put on Norethisterone then buserelin. AF is due in about a week or so. Not sure when EC will be but I'm guessing near the end of May so I'll likely be a week or / behind you Smile

For info I'm 30, DH is 31 and we've been ttc since Jan 2015 and we're unexplained, never had a BFP!

hi maple
sounding similar! Been trying 2.5 years with unexplained infertility - well so they say. My amh is 14.2 but should be 20 for a 28 year old but my consultant said it shouldn't be stopping me from getting pregnant seen as I'm ovulating every month. I'm 28 and DH is 30. I'm waiting for my period and ill start the pill I think x

Ah yes very similar! I think my AMH is similar too, I can't remember off the top of my head. Is this your first cycle doing IVF? I haven't really told anyone so it's good to be able to have the support on here!

I'm collecting all my drugs tomorrow and then actually looking forward to AF! Although secretly hoping for a miraculous BFP instead!!

Yes this is my first cycle, and your getting your drugs tomorrow? it must work differently in different areas. I'm in north east, and when I go down for my bloods on my next period, that's when I have to get my drugs and make an appointment with the nurse to show me how to inject.

and ive told very few people myself. I know what you mean, every month theres that glimmer of hope. I'm getting tipsy tonight sunday and next Friday - get it all in before af comes and I cant drink for however long!

Happy Friday! Hope you aren't hungover this morning toffee! I'm in London, I had a nurse appointment where she gave me all my needles, prescription and confirmed I wanted to start with my April period. Then I call when AF is here and then I think we go through doses etc. I'm not worried about injecting myself as I've had 3 cycles of medicated IUI - more worried about the number of them and the sheer amount of drugs and how it might affect me!

toffeepuddin · 31/03/2017 10:59

I'm fine maple I stopped at the one bottle lol. It must work differently up north cos I've been told just to go down on my next period and then book my appointment with the nurse and get the medication. I should be on next week with any luck x

I've been spotting brown the last 4 days (I can spot from 1 day to 8 before AF) which is early for me - I've only had 2 weeks of no spotting / AF this month!! Whenever I bring it up the hospital never seem concerned Hmm if it means I can start earlier though that's fine by me - maybe our dates will be very similar!!

Hope you have a nice weekend Smile

Aunt Flo came this morning so I should be having my EC in the middle of May. Getting very nervous now!

Hi broody, good luck!! I'm a bit nervous too! We can all hand hold!

Toffee did your AF arrive?

Mine has been a bit weird - wasn't expecting anything until Sunday but I started spotting brown (usual for me before AF) then had a wipe of red blood Sunday night. Usually I would count this as day one as my periods are so light but since then it's been brown! I called the nurse and she said see what happens this week and if I don't get anything else then count it as day 1. Sigh!

Hi, hope its ok if I join. I'm doing a frozen cycle, have an endometrial scratch on Friday and start downregulating on Monday. Our history- unexplained for 2 and a bit years (but certainly an issue on my side), we had a fresh cycle early 2014 which was successful and DD was born end of 2014. Very lucky! We had 10 frozen blastocysts (my AMH was 13 FYI). Unfortunately getting a sibling has not been such an easy path, our first attempt in August was successful but ended in bleeding after a week, December was a chemical pregnancy and February a negative. This time we are having the scratch and also having two put back in the hope that one sticks.

Broody the injections aren't too bad actually - I had to have them for when I did a few cycles of medicated IUI - but the first one was definitely scary. You will be a pro in no time!

Welcome Moggle - I'm sorry for your loss Flowers 10 blasts is amazing! For frozen, is it the same as fresh but without stims? I'm on norethisterone from 18th until 29th and buserelin from 25th.

moggle · 05/04/2017 22:52

Yes it is at my clinic. You can also do a natural cycle where they pretty much just use opk sticks to determine the right time to plop it back in.

broodynmoody · 06/04/2017 08:38

Hi moggle, I too have unexplained infertility but I'm guessing the problem is with me somehow.
So if you have frozen blastocysts? You can try after a couple of months after a previous unsuccessful cycle? I'm a bit anxious incase it's not successful and I have to wait months, probably more if I can't get any frozen ones Sad

moggle · 06/04/2017 09:36

So at my clinic if you had an unsuccessful fresh cycle, you would have the period immediately, then your next period, and then you could start that cycle. So for me there would be about a 7-8 week gap between end of failed cycle and beginning downregulation for another cycle (4 weeks of one cycle, then we start on the 3rd week of next cycle).

They would want the same gap minimum for starting a new fresh cycle, although you might want to have more of a gap as the stimming drugs have more of an effect - my ovaries were still very large when I went for my 12 week scan!

Have you had AMH done, what was it, how old are you? I would think you would expect to get one or two frozens at least. It seems that most people do, if there's not an issue of egg quality.

Hi, joining in! Just had a failed icsi cycle (chemical pregnancy) and have some 6-day blasts so going for a FET in mid-May.

maplebaby · 11/04/2017 07:28

Welcome blackcherries I'm so sorry to hear it didn't work out and I'm sorry for your loss Flowers it's been pretty quiet here as I think we are all waiting to down reg / only just started.

Great news that you have some blasts! Will you be putting one or 2 back?

Which reminds me - moggle I hope the scratch went ok and all good to start yesterday?

Report
moggle · 11/04/2017 08:52

Welcome blackcherries! The chemical must have been devastating :-( I had one two FETs ago but it was sooooo faint my hopes didn't get up very far. I can't imagine having had one on a fresh cycle. I'm sure you're sick of hearing it but it is a good sign that the embryo did try to implant.

Yes the scratch was OK, in a way! thanks maple. It was at 7:45 am! I had to take antibiotic capsules and a painkiller suppository an hour before. I stupidly didn't erm, empty my bowels before the suppository and then it basically gave me almost immediate cramps and so I couldn't eat any breakfast :-( I have low blood pressure at the best of times so by the time I got myself to the clinic having had no food and with these cramps I was almost fainting!! Was seriously worried about my bowels and the proximity of the consultant's face to my bum but everything was OK... It hurt slightly more than an embryo transfer so not too bad really. Pretty sure the painkiller had little effect as I only managed to hold onto it for 20 minutes or so. Anyway I was home by 8:30 feeling really rough so went back to sleep for two hours, I enjoyed the rest of the day though on my own, with DD at nursery :-D

Started injections last night, I nearly forgot to do it. Need to set some reminders on my phone I think.

Report
maplebaby · 11/04/2017 10:24

Goodness moggle, sounds stressful! That's happened to me before with the bum bullets - I erm, don't go very often anyway so it can be uncomfortable! Glad it's done though and hope it makes the difference. I'm going to consider it if my first round doesn't work.

I've put reminders on my phone already as I'm worried I'll forget too! Are you on buserelin? I'm on norethisterone first.

Had a wobble last night and ended up bawling over DH then later on the phone to my mum. Mum is very no nonsense and was like there isn't any point worrying about it - it will either work or it won't, worrying wont change anything. I know it's true but I can't help it!! Sad this is also the same woman who said "just relax and it will happen" Hmm

hello ladies,

ok if I join?

had one successful round of ivf and icsi in 2014 following no joy ttc for (frankly) years before - tests showed nothing to report with me, although I have my doubts that I'd be able to get pregnant naturally in any case, and dh has low sperm count/ motility/ high abnormals.

we are trying for a sibling for dd and I'm feeling apprehensive having very much not enjoyed ivf the first time ( apart from it bloody working of course!)

AF started today, so I'm going in first thing tomo for scan/ bloods/ drugs.

I think the hardest thing emotionally is that we haven't told anyone (dh's wishes) and I'm quite an open book usually. Only my mum knows about dd being through ivf, so there's lots of subterfuge ahead 😕

who have you all told?

Hello everyone, can I join in too?? Just received the drugs today for our first IVF cycle, starting next month. It's all starting to feel a bit real now!

Hope you are all doing OK?

notsusan we've ended up mentioning it to quite a few people now. We kept our struggles secret for a long time but that felt harder in a way, as we couldn't talk to anyone when we felt sad or worried! Haven't told people the exact date though to avoid awkward questions :-)

Hi notsusan and flirty
We told our parents in a vague sense for the fresh cycle - they knew we were planning it but didn't know dates or anything. And I told my manager at work because of the time off needed (he was surprisingly super nice about it - he and his wife had had unsuccessful IVF about 18 years ago). Once we were telling people about being pregnant we basically told everyone that it was a result of IVF if there was an opportunity to do so. It's kind of funny though because we're starting to get the 'oh are you thinking about having another one... you need to get on with it' etc from people who we told about the IVF but they've forgotten! Some people though who have gone on to have struggles TTC have confided in us about it which is nice, so I am glad we were quite open with it. From experience and reading on here, when it is a male factor issue it does seem much more likely to be kept a secret.

This time we've told my mum and dad because it is so much easier with childcare if they can come over for a few hours to cover a scan or whatever. The last three cycles we didn't tell them, and had a few extra nursery sessions for embryo transfer but otherwise I brought DD with me to the clinic which isn't really the ideal situation.

Welcome notsusan and flirty.

Notsusan I've told a few people but on a need to know basis - mum and sister, best friend, friend from work and my 2 bosses. Otherwise no one knows - I ummed and ahhed about telling my close group of friends but my DH had not told a soul so decided not to. We will make sure we tell people if we are lucky and it works though! Its a very personal decision though, no right or wrong Smile

Flirty do you start downregging next month or this month? I'm starting next Tuesday!
