IVF in May/JUNE 2017..cycle buddies!

Hi

I noticed there's a IVF thread for March/April and now June - but no May.

My egg collection is scheduled week commencing the 15th May. On my next period (due around 3rd April) I have to go down for my bloods.
Anyone else?

This is a silly question I know but what is 'teach'? I've seen a few people mention it but no idea what it means!

I've got a hen do tomorrow as well - alcohol free eek. Not sure how I'm going to be able to hide the fact I'm not drinking without having to tell people about IVF. They straight away assume I'm pg instead (which is sad). Any tips from anyone?? Or should I just shout loud and proud?

I still had to google it! Never had it but used those injection pens which were really easy.

Hi les2chats good luck this time, so sorry to hear your previous, can't imagine.
lily we're going to an engagement party which will no doubt get messy and likewise not drinking, I'm driving and saying got loads to do next day so can't afford to have hang over, gym/run, house stuff, driving somewhere if anyone quizzes me, likewise they will think something up.
Could always say you're on antibiotics!
I'm not telling anyone, I don't want the added pressure of people knowing that it hadn't worked, or asking if it has etc. I prefer to deal with things on my own. DH was only one who knew about m/c but then told mum after, was glad I did but still sometimes she asks me how it's going when I just don't want to talk about it. Individual choice about how you deal with things! Good luck 🍀

Thanks Chivin, I'm with you really. I am very private and don't want too many people knowing as they just don't understand. I'll just do the same and say busy next day, and drink tonic water so it looks like a G&T!

I have told one friend that we're TTC and generally trying to be healthy not drink etc to improve chances (I'm 39) but that's as far as I've said. the rest just think that I've continued after giving up for lent! (That was my great idea last month!) and just saying now that it's great not waking up with a hang over and get so much more out of the weekend!
Cranberry is always a good one as people assume vodka in it!

Hello les2chats sorry to hear about your losses and good luck with this cycle.

I had needle teach Tuesday and it was OK. I tried ovulation stimulation injections before IVF so I pretty much remembered the process from then.

Lily I'd maybe say antibiotics, just because I can imagine people trying to coax you into having 'just one' if you say you've got a busy day! (Or is that just the people I know??) Hope you have a good time anyway! And enjoy the engagement party chivin!

I'm on day 8 of buserelin spray and by this time last cycle I had started my bleed - but not this time. Had a tiny bit of spotting a couple of days ago - should I be worried that it's not here yet? Baseline scan due for Friday.

blackcherries Can you speak to your clinic at all? Hopefully they could reassure you all is well and progressing like it should. Or maybe start another thread and some of the others might know more? Take care and try not to worry!

Don't think I'd get a reply over the bank holiday, though I'll call on Tuesday if nothing's happened by then. Just a bit weird as I feel a bleed is threatening itself but not appearing!

blackcherries have you booked your baseline scan even though you haven't came on yet?
The nurse told me I had to ring the first day of my period and book my baseline scan. She said it's because they can't predict when I come on which I guess applies to everyone.

Yes, the clinic book it all in in advance but say to ring if you haven't had your bleed by the time of baseline scan. Have already rearranged once so may have to do again! Did a test just to completely rule out and it was negative. (Had endo scratch last week and had tested before then as well)

Les - so sorry for your loss and having to make the decision to terminate - it must have been so difficult.

Lily how did the hen do go? I've been trying to avoid anything that involves alcohol!

Blackcherries each cycle is different so don't worry too much about it not starting yet - I would call the clinic on Tuesday just to check with them!

I had my last Norethisterone last night so waiting for my bleed too now. Been on buserelin for 5 days and no side effects... yet!

Maple the hen do was surprisingly ok being alcohol free. It was at a hotel for a meal so I had Mocktails which looked like I was drinking. very sedate for a hen do. A couple of raised eyebrows from the hen though - and it's her wedding in Sorrento in June. So she has to know about the ivf and the fact that I might not be able to make the wedding. Looks like ET would be around that time.

I feel like I've let myself down and every one down.
Plan was to go friends party, have like 3 drinks and go home.
When I got there, it seemed everyone knew about my fertility problems.
My friend (without my permission) told everyone at his party I'm going through IVF and I was bombarded with question after question...well what did I do? Had a few drinks. I'm due my baseline scan end of next week or start of the next..if it fails it's down to me

Oh no! That's terrible that your friend betrayed a confidence like that. I'm sure you won't have done your follicles any harm. It would take much more than one night of drinking. I asked the nurse about exactly this when I had mine, as I'd been out for my birthday the week before and she said it wouldn't make any difference, what matters are your long-term habits.
Hold you're drinking lots today and looking after yourself!
Still can't believe your friend. This is such a private issue.

Oh Broody! Don't beat yourself up about the drinks (sounds like you needed them!) - I agree with what Laurelstar says completely!! You won't have done any damage and sounds like it probably was good for you to De stress a little. I'm all for doing all we can in this journey - but I also think do the things that make you happy and which de stress you (in moderation). Im alcohol free now but will be having some vino soon - it's too hard to refrain totally.
And your friend!!! I am gobsmacked! I hope you are ok this morning x
