FET Sept/Oct

Hi ladies,
I am due to start an FET in Sept/Oct and wondered if anyone else was too?! Had my first cycle of IVF in August but due to fluid in my uterus and thin lining had to freeze everything. I seem to always have fluid mid cycle, including natural cycles. Very worried that it will always be a problem and will never get to use my embryos. Having a hysteroscopy the week after next to check incase anything in there but doc suspects not. Would be great to have a few buddies! xxx

Good luck Again!! xxx

AgainPlease · 26/10/2016 15:00

Thanks everyone! You ladies are the best Grin

Good news and bad news: bad news is our first blast didn't survive the thaw at all. Just completely collapsed from the start. Good news is the second one defrosted perfectly and was thriving so we have one little bean on board!

I'm very sad though that that's it for us. We have no 'spares' and if this one doesn't pull through we'd have to start the painful process all over again.

Bear2014 · 26/10/2016 15:07

Congrats on being PUPO! Sorry about your second blast. It does only take one though, so try to stay positive. xx

Lolly2803 · 26/10/2016 15:29

Again that's great news you've got one embryo safely onboard. Hopefully it's snuggling in as we speak!
It is a shame about the first one not defrosting but as Bear says it only takes one. Sounds like this one is super strong so am feeling positive for you!!!
Hope you're ok xxxx

Sorry I mean to say "thaw" for some reason I always say defrosting which makes me think of getting some chicken out the freezer....really need to improve my lingo! xxxx

OP posts:
Bear2014 · 26/10/2016 15:42

I say defrost too :o) I always have this weird mental image of them bunging it in the microwave...

AgainPlease · 26/10/2016 16:36

I alternate between defrost and thaw. My mum says FET is like pulling a frozen pizza out of the freezer and zapping it in the microwave Hmm thanks mum!

Lolly2803 · 26/10/2016 16:42

Well personally I quiet like frozen pizzas so that's good! Haha!!

My mum says it is all 'very science fiction' - LOL

Lolly2803 · 26/10/2016 17:14

Haha!! Love that one xx

Congrats on being PUPO Again! I'm so sorry you had the shock of losing the first frostie to the thaw - but so pleased you have a beautiful blast on board. I know it won't be much consolation, but the lab told me that euploid embryos generally survived the thaw - and that embryos that didn't were very very likely to be chromosomally abnormal (assuming embryos were vitrified not slow frozen). If that's the case here, then that first embryo would never have been able to become a person - it would have been BFN or mc - but you've found out earlier and saved the heartbreak further the line. Keeping everything crossed that this one is the golden egg!

Loving the frozen pizza analogy! Well it's true that humans are hardier than chicken breasts. Once you've defrosted chicken you can't refreeze it. But embryos you can! It's not ideal and obv puts more stress on the embryo. But we discussed this at length with the lab when we were deciding whether to thaw our prev batch of frosties for PGS testing (and then refreeze the embryos after biopsy). The lab said they're doing more and more PGS testing of already-frozen embryos for the same reason as us - so they've gathered a fair amount of data on how embryos do after being twice frozen / thawed. Basically - not everything that survives the thaw is normal, but anything that didn't survive almost certainly WAS abnormal

banana what would we do without you? You are a fantastic fountain of knowledge and thank you so so much for the reassurance.

I'm feeling a bit better about everything and rather than strapping myself to the bed as planned I've been getting on with running errands and getting out of the house this afternoon.

bear LOOLL that's such a mum thing to say :)

You know, it funny - the more I talk about our struggle to conceive and IVF journey to people IRL, the more I find couples who have similar stories. My neighbour, one of my best friends, this woman I got to talking to last week as our dogs were playing together in the park... All doing IVF! I wonder: does anyone get pregnant naturally these days?!

Bear2014 · 26/10/2016 21:01

Well 3 out of 8 of our NCT group with DD were IVF babies. One of the couples fell pregnant natu

Bear2014 · 26/10/2016 21:03

Whoops! One fell pregnant naturally after that and the other is currently expecting through FET.

Being a same sex couple we know loads of people who have had IVF. My sister is also going through IVF (male factor). It's all around us!!

Glad you're feeling good, Again. You should be Smile xx

AgainPlease · 27/10/2016 10:25

Wow 3/8. Shock that's loads! And also doesn't make me feel less like the only person in the world who can't get pregnant.

I'm glad we are living in 2016 and not 1916 where we would probably end up childless

Bear2014 · 27/10/2016 10:46

Again - how are you feeling today? xx

Yes, we're definitely not the only ones having trouble! Ironically, the other 2 IVF couples have easily conceived a second child. However, 2 of the couples who conceived baby no.1 naturally and quickly are suffering secondary infertility, with multiple miscarriages between them.

Banana - Hope you're well. was meaning to ask you, what supplements do you think I should be taking during this upcoming natural cycle? I'm fully anticipating another fresh cycle in early 2017 so I'm still on ubiquinol. For this reason also, I think I will avoid L-Arginine this time (?)

Currently on:
Ubiquinol 200mg
Pregnacare Conception
Zita West DHA+zinc
Vitamin E 200iu 2 per day
Vitamin C 500mg 2 per day
extra Folic acid 400ug

Is this enough Vit E for my lining do you think? And after trigger I would stop the extra C, E and ubiquinol, carrying on the others?

I always ask the consultant about supplements and she always just says take pregnacare, but after reading It Starts with the Egg, I take that with a pinch of salt. Thanks in advance xx

Hi Bear, thanks for checking in on me! I'm doing ok - haven't felt the need to poas so that's good. I had a really creepy/realistic dream last night (... in my dream my mum and I were driving inflatable buses around an old town with narrow streets and we had a big argument. So weird!!), and I've noticed a pattern of having really weird and realistic dreams when pregnant, most notably when I had my chem pregnancy last month. But I don't want to get my hopes up!

I had been having really scary heart palpitations ongoing from Wednesday so when they started again on Thursday night we went to A&E. My pulse was measure at 89 beats per minute which was a bit on the high end and the ECG showed ectopic beats but my bloods didn't show anything unusual. Also my blood pressure was only 115/67 (and it usually hovers around 100-110/60-70) so that wasn't a cause for concern either. I don't know whether I am having subconscious anxiety attacks or its a weird side effect from cyclogest?

I did have heart palpitations when I was pregnant before (and I just put it down to my body working overtime to create a human) but not on consecutive days :/

Bear2014 · 28/10/2016 15:13

Crikey, that is a lot of symptoms! Sounds scary with the heart palpitations, a pregnant friend of mine gets that.

Definitely sounding promising with the dreams! I think everyone has a couple of signs that they recognise of early pregnancy. Mine are mostly just distinctive sensations in the abdomen, but I think if you've been pregnant before you can spot them, whatever they are. Eek so exciting! xx

Lolly2803 · 28/10/2016 15:23

Again so sorry tigers you've been at A&E! Are you ok now? That's pretty scary but sounds like they're not too worried which is reassuring. Make sure you keep an eye on it though. The dreams sound very weird!! But can only be a good sign by the sounds of it. Eeekkkk!!! Stay strong and put down the pee sticks!! Hope you've got a relaxing weekend planned.

I've no idea what it feels like to be pregnant but I'm hoping to find out soon!!! Haha.

HelloMist · 28/10/2016 15:35

Thank you for your messages. Sorry for not posting sooner. I'm doing OK. Had a phone session with a counsellor through the clinic and tried to contact another organisation (but they've been terrible at returning calls :( ) told a few friends and family. Little, triggering things were the hardest over the first few days, but now I'm keeping busy and even managed not to think about the scan I should have been at yesterday - until 10pm when I got in a nice bath.

Banana, good to see you back. Yes, I think it is for the best that we didn't find out via a heartbreaking scan. Sorry that it is slow progress for you but it sounds worth putting in that time. :)

Again, great news for 1 perfect embryo on board!! Sorry for the scary palpitations experience but glad to hear you've been checked out and that they were happy with the results. I had weird dreams: a lot more in my first pregnancy, only a few this time (not to say that means anything, it can all vary. Was on progesterone). Hope these are good signs.

Bear I wish I knew more people who'd had IVF! I'm positive there are more but they haven't told me. I came across my first 1 this week, a friend of a friend. Oh and there's someone in my family. :) Great news also about your parents! That will take the pressure off a bit for this cycle.

Lolly I'm glad to hear it seems to be going well so far!

Love to anyone I missed.

Lolly2803 · 28/10/2016 20:09

Hey Mist, great to hear from you again. Great you've had a session with a counsellor, did you find it useful? Do you think you'll continue? Hope you're doing ok.

How are you doing Again? How are you feeling?

Bear and Banana How are you ladies? What have you got planned this weekend?

I've got a question for you wise ladies. Will I ovulate during my FET cycle? I didn't do the down regging just started on the oestrogen on Day 2. But was just wondering if I'll ovulate or not?! xxxx

AgainPlease · 30/10/2016 14:39

Hi everyone! Nice to see you again Mist

My vivid dreams have stopped which is worrying me but I have had really bad/interrupted sleep last few nights - either the dog barking his head off multiple times in the night (which is not normal for him) and DH being an absolute tit going out drinking and partying. When he goes out I can't get to sleep properly so I usually stay up till 1 or 2am till he gets in (not because I think he's up to no good, I just worry. Even when he works late in the office and doesn't get up till the small hours of the morning I am still awake).

Heart palpitations have stopped but headaches have taken their place. tmi : In my first pregnancy and my chem pregnancy my nipples went a bit darker for a few days during the 2ww but so far haven't seen a change in my nipples this time :( Although I didn't get implantation bleeding the first time around and I did with the chem pregnancy.... So basically I really don't know what's going on and I just want to find out the result so I can either get excited or just put myself out of my misery. I think I am erring on the side of being let down and it will be a BFN next weekend :(

AgainPlease · 30/10/2016 14:41

Sorry lolly forgot to say that yes you will ovulate during FET if they didn't give you any down reg drugs. Well that's my understanding anyway xx

Bear2014 · 30/10/2016 14:47

Again don't panic! It's so hard this 2ww business. Everything drives you crazy. Hang in there Grin

Mist - glad you're doing ok. Do you know what your next steps might be?

Lolly - how are you feeling? Not long now. To answer the ovulation question, no you won't ovulate in a medicated cycle, only a natural one. Hope the meds aren't giving you too many side effects.

Banana hope you're doing well.

I've had a nice distracting weekend chasing around after a mini witch, as DD went to a party on Friday and now won't take her dress off. Got my endo scratch tomorrow Smile

FET Sept/Oct
Lolly2803 · 30/10/2016 14:59

Aw what a lovely pic Bear! Sounds like a great weekend! Don't worry about the scratch tomorrow, it's totally fine. Bit uncomfortable for a few mins but totally bearable. Exciting!! It's the start of treatment!!

Well I didn't have down regulation so I was a bit confused as to whether I would or not...but I'm hoping I won't because that's the only reason I can think the fluid isn't there (or wasn't, let's see tomorrow!) xxxx
