FET Sept/Oct

Hi ladies,
I am due to start an FET in Sept/Oct and wondered if anyone else was too?! Had my first cycle of IVF in August but due to fluid in my uterus and thin lining had to freeze everything. I seem to always have fluid mid cycle, including natural cycles. Very worried that it will always be a problem and will never get to use my embryos. Having a hysteroscopy the week after next to check incase anything in there but doc suspects not. Would be great to have a few buddies! xxx

bananafish81 · 07/09/2016 12:24

1300 tomorrow! Scan this afternoon at 1700 to do a final check in

L-arginine I got 1000mg tablets and took 6 a day!

Lolly2803 · 07/09/2016 12:52

Holy cow that's loads!!! Ok will order those to add to my daily doses! It's a wonder I don't rattle when I walk.
Keep us posted on your scan. Keeping everything crossed for you. X

Banana, thanks, that was informative! Thanks, baseline looking good (lining is nice and thin) :). The scan was delayed because AF was slow to show so I wasn't certain it would be OK! It sounds like they're learning from your previous cycles and are being extra cautious this time. It's good there's a good team/doctor looking after you. Thinking of you now.

Thanks Bear and Banana, encouraging to hear you both found progynova OK.

Lolly - not sure but if you are down regging first you won't need try and thicken the lining until later in the process. Sorry if that was obvious and you knew! Has the doctor recommended the aspirin? Hopefully it will all become clearer once you get started. It can be confusing until you do.

Lolly echoing bear - is the aspirin as directed by your consultant? If it has then great - different Drs have different approaches. If it hasn't then I would definitely double check because as I mentioned earlier, my consultant specifically told me not to start aspirin until after ET

My meds schedule is ridiculous - before I even get to the supplements! I have everything in a great app to give me reminders

  • thyroxine before breakfast
  • prednisolone after breakfast
  • lamotrigine (epilepsy med) am and pm
  • Cyclogest am
  • progynova 3 x daily
  • Lubion pm
  • Clexane and aspirin daily (after ET)
  • amitriptyline (nerve pain med) before bed

If I get pregnant I also have to start taking metformin twice a day

Supps wise I took the following up until the day of starting progesterone :

  • Prenatal
  • 6g l-arginine
  • 1000iu vitamin E
  • vitamin D
  • high dose omega 3 (2000-3000mg)
  • iron
  • prescription strength folic acid
  • Inofolic (inositol for PCOS)

I've now dropped the l-arginine and vitamin E, lowered the dose of omega 3, and added in a calcium & magnesium supplement because I'm on clexane and prednisolone

When I was doing fresh cycles I didn't take l-arginine (good for lining, bad for eggs), but took anti oxidants for egg quality instead (CoQ10 as ubiquinol, melatonin, high dose vitamin C, resveratrol)

I rely on a pill organiser for all the supplements or I'd be lost!!

hello great news about your scan! Are you on pills or patches or both? When is your first lining scan?

I am very lucky to have a brilliant Dr, I don't think I could be in better hands. I'm with an independent consultant rather than with a clinic, so I see him and only him for every consultation, scan and procedure.

Waiting to see him now for final lining scan in fact!! Xx

Hi ladies,

Can I join?

I had IVF earlier this year and had a 5 day blastocyst transfer which was successful. At 5 months pregnant I went in to early labour and gave birth to my son who died shortly after.

It's been the most horrendous ordeal of my and my DHs lives. The suffering of infertility and emotional stress of IVF was enough. Then to get through the first 12 weeks was a relief and we told everyone we knew. To give birth to my baby knowing he won't survive was a painful experience beyond words.

I've just got my period today which I'm very happy about and that means I have to wait for one more period before we do a natural cycle FET which should be mid-October. We only have two embryos in the freezer and neither were as good as the embryo that turned out to be my son but they are still good enough to have been frozen. I hope they survive the thaw!

So I'm just sitting here patiently waiting and hopefully in the meantime I can read some success stories on here too :)

Lolly2803 · 07/09/2016 17:20

Againplease, of course you can join. I am so so sorry for your loss. What an ordeal you have been through, I am so sorry. You are so strong to go through it again, I hope this FET goes as smooth as possible for you. The fact that you have frozen embryos shows they must be good and it worked first time so it will work again I'm sure. Do you know why you went into early labour? Not sure if they can explore those kinds of things. Sending you a virtual hug.

Banana - WOW that's so much!! I took CoQ10, Vit C and E for my fresh and got the good embryos. The clinic said I can take aspirin now but to stop before my hysteroscopy for a few days and then not start again till after. Should I wait till ET? I've ordered L-Arginine so will add that. I've also been taking folic acid and parental for about a year! How did your scan go? I'm waiting for AF. Due today but it's being shy - typical. I need to come on tomorrow otherwise there's a chance I'll still be bleeding when I'm scheduled for my hysteroscopy which isn't allowed!!

Hi Lolly. Yes the cause was actually preventable. It turned out that there was a combination of factors that led to my early labour but it could have all potentially been avoided had my booking-in midwife classified me in to the appropriate risk category. I should have been consultant-led and on high-risk from Day 1 but instead I was left to my own devices. I even went in to A&E twice in the week before going in to labour complaining of bleeding but they sent me home both times. Third time I went in I was in active labour. Complete cock up! But I am finding some inner peace and acceptance and moving on. My son will live in my heart forever but I'm looking forward to getting pregnant again!

Bear2014 · 07/09/2016 20:57

AgainPlease I'm so sorry for your loss Flowers and welcome! Really hope you have success, you deserve it!!

Lolly2803 · 07/09/2016 22:12

Againplease, sounds like you've found a way to move forward and that's so amazing. I really really hope this next round goes smoothly for you.

Banana, how was your scan today? I'm waiting for AF. Still no sign but can feel it's going to come any second. Just worried my hysteroscopy will be on day 6 and I might have a bit of spotting left that day. Not sure if I can still have the hysteroscopy like that? So annoying!!!

Again I’m so very sorry for your loss - can only image the agony and heartbreak you’ve been through, we are all thinking of you and hoping that the next step in your journey holds a much happier outcome

lolly I’d go with whatever your clinic said about aspirin post hysto pre ET. I was told not to take it before ET due to risk of bruising affecting implantation, but there’s no right or wrong answer - that’s just my consultant’s POV, different Drs will have different takes on it.

Scan last night confirmed we are GO for today. FET @ 1pm. Will try not to get too over enthusiastic with the water drinking like last time: was aiming for ‘medium full bladder’ and ended up cross-eyed, desperately trying not to pee on my consultant as he was squirting a potential future human into my uterus. ET went fine last time, and he did a mock transfer while I was knocked out for EC (‘while you’re in there’). If I can not pee on him that will be a good start.

Just have to shit myself this morning waiting for the email from the embryologist to confirm the thaw. Aaaaarrrgggghhhhh.

See you on the other side girls.... Xx

Lolly2803 · 08/09/2016 10:21

Aw Banana that's great news! Good Luck!! Let us know how it goes and how you're feeling afterwards. Give us all the details! Fingers crossed for a perfect thaw too. Lots of love xxx

OP posts:
bananafish81 · 08/09/2016 20:59

Frosticle thawed beautifully and one euploid blast safely on board!

Consultant said transfer went perfectly, said he's feeling really positive about how the cycle has gone, that we've hit every milestone - but now it's the hard bit, and just have to hope the result in 9 days time is a good one

Not sure who looked more anxious - him or us!

Tested the trigger and it's gone - last time I made it till 8dp5dt, can't quite see that happening this time....!

Bear2014 · 08/09/2016 21:19

That's great, Banana! Really keeping everything crossed for you!

AgainPlease · 08/09/2016 22:14

Hooray Banana! Happy for you Smile

Lolly2803 · 08/09/2016 22:39

Brilliant Banana! I'm feeling so positive for you. Easier said than done but just try and keep positive. You've done everything you could and it's all working!! Enjoy the feeling of being PUPO, you've earnt it a million times over.
We'll keep you company!!
Still no sign of my AF! Had to move my hysteroscopy to the week after as id likely still be bleeding and they can't do it then! Annoying!!! Hoping the witch comes tomorrow. I've never been this late - it's because I'm wishing her to come, awkward cow! xxxx

HelloMist · 09/09/2016 15:36

banana I'm on pills. I hadn't realised it was HRT I'd be on! (was told by a nurse not to read the leaflet because it might scare me so of course I did... think that is quite bad of them to say that! We should be informed what we are getting into even if it feels like there is little choice in this situation :( ) Congrats on being PUPO! Hoping it is a sticky one.

This is my 2nd day taking it though and I'm not suffering anything much. :) (My tummy has been a bit funny but I think it could've been partly nerves).

HelloMist · 09/09/2016 15:37

and wow banana, that's an awful lot of meds. Thanks for the reminder app idea. Which one do you use?

Bear2014 · 09/09/2016 16:39

Hi Banana, hope your nerves are holding! Are you still taking the L-Arginine or do you stop at ET?

bananafish81 · 09/09/2016 17:24

Lolly I never had much luck with these strategies, but I attempted to invoke sod's law with white knickers and no liner, clean sheets etc. Plus exercise, orgasms, hot bath amongst others!

hello I'm on the pills, I've never had any side effects from them, hopeful you will find them relatively straightforward. I haven't had any headaches but drink lots of water to keep them at bay!

The app is use is called Dosecast, although there's loads of other ones, this is just the one I've used for the last few years

bear thank you! I stopped the l-arginine at trigger (in a normal FET the day you'd start progesterone).

Xxx

Bear2014 · 09/09/2016 18:19

Great, thanks. I only started it on Tuesday. I don't want to take it for too long anyway in case I have to do another fresh cycle.

Lolly2803 · 11/09/2016 21:52

Hey ladies, hope you've had a lovely weekend. How are you hanging in there banana?
Day 35 for me and still no sign of AF! I've had period paid for 7 days now but nothing else. Usually i am either 28 or 30 days alternating. This is my first natural cycle since my IVF cycle could that be why? Might have to cancel my hysteroscopy again if I'm not on by Tues!!!

OP posts:
Bear2014 · 12/09/2016 08:32

Lolly that sucks! Bloomin typical. Hope it shows soon.

I'm on day 6 of progynova, don't feel any different really but I've been trying to be ultra healthy, no booze/caffeine, loads of fresh foods and chugging beetroot and pomegranate juices. Next lining scan on Weds.

Hope everyone's had a good weekend Smile

Lolly2803 · 12/09/2016 18:42

I know it still hasn't come. If it's not hear tomorrow I'll have to cancel and just say " I'll let you know when it arrives". I'm so frustrated as I have no idea when it's going to turn up so could be ages! Did anyone else have this?
What are your timings Bear do you know?

Banana how are you doing? When is your OTD? xxx
