Anyone starting IUI soon? Looking for some support

I've been offered three rounds of stimulated IUI after ttc for 8 years.

We have undiagnosed infertility but I'm 36 and can feel the clock ticking.

I'm expecting af to arrive around the 1st of December and I'll start my injections for the first cycle soon after.

Is anyone else in a similar boat?

No news here. On day 4 on the 2ww - on the progesterone again so will test on the 27th. Really struggles to get on with those clear blue ovulation tests! I had to use 7 for 4 days worth of testing as the first one each day didn't register for some reason. Did you manage to use them ok? Where about a in your cycle are you?

Touch wood, ovulation tests have worked ok for me. I'm day 26 and feel very PMTish so not holding out for any luck this month.

AF arrived on Weds. On Thursday DP told me that 2 of his friends were going to be Dads in August; for the first time ever, I felt angry that it wasn't us. I know it's really bad of me to feel like that, but I know both couples haven't been trying long. I'm cross with myself for being like this.

So I took proactive steps and decided not to leave it until the Easter holidays to have another go. I called the clinic and had my first scan yesterday.

Good for you Sali - I put off treatment for various reasons over the years and regret that now.

I've had two failed IUIs now. I think af is due today and then I'll begin the countdown to my last cycle.

6 friends announced pregnancies yesterday. I get a BFN today.

Sorry to hear that Noisy.

Was your bfn following a cycle of IUI?

I've had three failed cycles now and it's looking as though IVF is our last chance.

So no luck with you either FMF? We had an NHS appt today - they won't refer us for another 6 months as we've 'only' be trying 18 months.

Hello! Mind if I join? I have pcos and don't ovulate or respond to clomid. I've just had a failed iui (gonal f + trigger), and am just starting my second round - cd2 today so I've done my first injection for the cycle (am on 75iu gonal f daily). I found the first round a bit of a roller coaster and after my bfn on Monday obviously talked myself into thinking there was something horribly wrong with me. So am trying to relax this time around!

Hello Stealth welcome to the thread.

Hope you have a better cycle this time - I've found the whole thing emotionally draining.

Sali, our last cycle was cancelled at the last minute as I'd ovulated before I had a chance to take the trigger shot.

We have an appointment on the 7th and we're hoping to get permission to go to IVF.

I'm feeling determined again - it's our last chance as we're not in a position to pay for private treatment.

How is everyone else doing?

Welcome Stealth. Good luck with this cycle. I'm sure you'll be more relaxed this time now that you know what to expect.

That must be so frustrating FMF! How many have you had now?

We're doing IUI #3 in March but I can't help feeling it will be a waste of time. I'm convinced we'll need IVF.

We had two IUIs and one cycle where I used puregon and was ready to go for the IUI but it was cancelled as at my last scan I'd already ovulated.

I hope you have a successful cycle in March Sali.

I'm now 18 or 19 dpo and no sign of af.

My boobs feel bigger and I've got horrid lower back pain. I also have a headache just above me left eyebrow. I didn't poas this morning but if af doesn't appear before tomorrow I'm going to test.

I don't want to get too hopeful but my luteal phase is usually 14 days. I realise that all the meds for three cycles of IUI could have messed up my clock and af could be just around the corner.

Sounds promising FMF - fingers crossed for you tomorrow. Have you had IUI this cycle or just been trying naturally?

I've been MIA on this thread for a while as I don't think IUI is for us as my DHs count is just too low :( I had a laparoscopy last week and all looked fine - we are going to do one more IUI whilst waiting for DHs latest results and then it's either Ivf or explore whether we can improve DHs count privately. Will be discussing that with our consultant in a few weeks time.

Hi Closephine, good to see you back on the thread.

Our last IUI was cancelled as I had already ovulated at my scan on the 9th. We dtd but assumed it would be another failure (it might still be).

I know how you feel about IUI. I'm annoyed that I've wasted so much time on it. I feel that we should have been referred for IVF immediately. The stats for IUI are so poor in my age bracket that it's hardly worth it.

We have an appointment on the 7th of March and hopefully we'll be referred to IVF and can go ahead in April.

Hi Ladies Smile Can I join the thread? I have secondary infertility that is unexplained. Both my dh & I have had several tests done and there is nothing wrong with either of us. We have been TTC since since February 2014. We are due to start our first IUI at the end of March.

I ended up getting up in the night to poas - I got my bfp!!!!

We have been ttc for 9 years and conceived on our failed third IUI cycle.

I'm in shock. I don't think it's even registered yet.

FMF congratulations!!!! So happy for you :) perhaps although the IUI itself didn't happen, the drugs did something to give you a boost. You must be over the moon Flowers Grin

Thanks Closephine. The meds triggered ovulation for me so the IUI process definitely played a part.

I'm feeling pretty rubbish at the moment. I've got terrible lower back pain but I've never felt so grateful for being in pain.

Thanks Booboo. Fingers and toes crossed for everyone waiting for their bfp.

I'm really terrified of something going wrong now and won't relax until I've had a scan.

We weren't even given a date for a blood test this time as the IUI was cancelled. I'm going to call the hospital and ask them what to do next.

I would imagine they will give you an early scan even though you didn't have IUI. Probably around 6/7 weeks but that will probably feel like a lifetime won't it?!

I'm currently in the hospital waiting room. We'd done natural IUI until now but when I called up this morning they said they want to try stimulated. Feels like a pointless exercise but may as well go for it. We were also hoping to try Ivf next month but the nurse on the phone was like 'you won't be starting that soon' (even tho we'd be private but obviously they plan on holding us up getting notes etc if she's that sure?)!!

Ugh. Just what a I wanted today... An unexpected internal scan.

findingmyfeet12 · 29/02/2016 11:50

If you have stims and end up with two or three viable follicles then statistically you're increasing your chances quite a bit.

We tried to dtd as much as possible after the IUI and a couple of days before but with all the scans and meds it's difficult to get into the mood.

Hope your scan today goes well.

Complete about turn :) because I'm a high risk for OHSS and because I don't want to waste my increased fertility after laparoscopy last month if I did over stimulate we are going natural again!
