Anyone starting IUI soon? Looking for some support

I've been offered three rounds of stimulated IUI after ttc for 8 years.

We have undiagnosed infertility but I'm 36 and can feel the clock ticking.

I'm expecting af to arrive around the 1st of December and I'll start my injections for the first cycle soon after.

Is anyone else in a similar boat?

I felt like that after mine, but that could have been the affects of the follicle reduction and associated drugs. I agree about calling the clinic just to be sure.

My crabbiness / drippiness continued today. I had a huge strop at my poor Mum and then felt myself starting to tear up in work. Cue me 'needing to get something from the cupboard' before any of the kids noticed!

Thanks for the responses.

I feel much better actually - I think the whole thing just got a bit overwhelming for me and the stress started to affect me physically.

Good luck with your procedure Closephine.

I've been quite snappy as well Salimali. My dh has been wonderful and has kept me supplied with all my favourite food and lots of emotional support.

Glad to hear you're feeling better finding. It is all a bit overwhelming isn't it.

I'm feeling a bit rubbish. DH has been working so hard to try and improve his count but it had gone down :( it was just 2 million today after cleaning (3 before). Feeling very deflated as I think we both were hoping this was our month. I've been referred for a laparoscopy and DH had been referred for an ultrasound to see if we can figure out what's going on. Depending on the results of that it's probably IVF in March/April time

findingmyfeet12 · 16/12/2015 16:02

It might still be your last month Closephine.

We weren't told what dh's count was (and forgot to ask). He's usually within normal range but towards the low end.

It feels easier to just give up at times but think what we've all been through already - this is the final push for us.

Fingers and toes crossed. All we can do now is hope xx

closephine85 · 16/12/2015 19:24

Yes, fingers crossed! So where are we all in the 2ww? I'm day 1 obviously!

Do either of you understand this? After IUI my dr has told us to 'have intercourse' every other day for a week. I'm a bit confused by this as I had the trigger shot yesterday morning and 98% certain I ovulated yesterday evening as I get pains when it happens. Everything I read says that the egg only lasts a max 24 hours (roughly now as it was about 8pm last night I had the pains). So I can't understand what the point is? Other than for enjoyment of course... lol

Salimali15 · 16/12/2015 19:29

I'm 12 days post IUI. Sunday is the day.

I wasn't told anything about DTD. It's the last thing I would have wanted to do, in fairness!

closephine85 · 16/12/2015 19:44

Oh wow, not long to go then! Did you have a hcg trigger shot/are you tempted to test early? I'm terrible for testing early, even though when I had my son I didnt get a positive until I was about 5 days late! I still can't control myself even knowing that.

Yeah, I don't really fancy it tbh :) but I'm thinking it would make more sense to DTD tonight on the off chance the egg is still about rather than waiting until tomorrow when it definitely won't be. Def not in the mood tho!

findingmyfeet12 · 16/12/2015 20:13

I heard about dtd after IUI online. My hospital has never mentioned it. I thought that we'd be at it like rabbits to increase our chances but I just haven't felt like it either.

I'm two days post IUI. I don't know how I'm going to fill the time until I can test.

I'm just too tired I think, both mentally and physically! Plus we are both a bit disheartened after DHs results today. Really hope we can get to the bottom of it as there is no lifestyle reason as to why it should be so low.

I'd better order my cheap AMAZON tests actually so that they arrive before Xmas!

Salimali15 · 16/12/2015 21:33

I did a trigger 36 hours before. Will try to hang out until Sunday.

closephine85 · 17/12/2015 07:38

Good luck!! Fingers and toes crossed for you.

closephine85 · 18/12/2015 07:32

Starting my progesterone today. The Dr reeled off a whole load of unpleasant sounding side effects - are either of you ladies taking it and are you having any side effects?

findingmyfeet12 · 18/12/2015 09:38

I've been taking it since Monday and so far I've had no side effects at all. Sorry for tmi but I do have constipation which I'm not sure is as a result of the meds or not.

OP posts:
Salimali15 · 18/12/2015 09:46

I've had no side effects at all Closephine.

A little news - have to tell someone before I go nuts ....... Did a sneaky early test this morning ..... BFP!!! I just can't believe it! I'll test again Sunday to be 100%. I really thought it hadn't worked as I don't feel any different!

findingmyfeet12 · 18/12/2015 09:49

OMG - that's amazing!

I'm so pleased for you. Did you really have no symptoms at all?

I can't even imagine how you must be feeling!

OP posts:
Salimali15 · 18/12/2015 11:14

nothing at all! Smile

closephine85 · 18/12/2015 13:40

Oh wow salimali congratulations!! That's brilliant news! Lovely to finally read an IUI sucess story :) does your partner know yet?!

Finding - constipation was one of the side effects listed by my dr, along with bloating and cramps! But if you guys haven't haf any then hopefully I won't either!

findingmyfeet12 · 18/12/2015 16:04

I just don't feel any different at all. It's a bit disheartening even though I know it's early days.

OP posts:
closephine85 · 18/12/2015 17:19

Don't be disheartened, that's totally normal. I didn't feel anything with my pregnancy until I was definitely late and even then it was just little cramps. I actually get disheartened each month when I get symptoms prior to AF because I know deep down it means I'm not pregnant.

Salimali15 · 18/12/2015 17:22

Fingers crossed you will be ok. Thinking about it, I was a bit constipated, but that is pretty normal for me so I thought nothing of it.

Yes, I screamed the news to my partner this morning. He was half asleep, bless him!

findingmyfeet12 · 18/12/2015 17:41

I hope you'll hang around and let us know when you start having symptoms Sali?

OP posts:
Salimali15 · 18/12/2015 18:52

Definitely! xx

findingmyfeet12 · 19/12/2015 16:20

This waiting is driving me crazy. I don't know how I'm going to last until the blood test.

Salimali15 · 19/12/2015 17:13

How long now FMF?
