i have been trying for a second baby for 2 years with no luck (it took 12 months with DS - he's now 3.8). i've just been referred by my dr to an infertility clinic, as he thinks i'm probably not ovulating (tests have not shown anything else up). anyone else out there had an experience of this? think the next steps will be a hycosy and then clomid, any tips or advice on what to ask at the appointment much appreciated!
anyone else out there struggling with the thought of a growing age gap and sadness that their DS might not have another sibling? also feeling that we're getting further and further away from the 'baby stage', it seems so long ago.
also the process of infertility appointments seems so long! we've already been in the system months having the gp appointments and still not got the hospital date.
anyone else feel like this?

Haha sorry laptop, I'm just desperately trying to hold it together! Only a few days from test day and its torture! No symptoms at all, which is scaring me... How are you doing?

Hi girls!

Keep positive both of you!

What day are you testing Juggling? Fingers & toes crossed, hair plaited for you! ??

I've given up this month - AF yet to arrive but not a hint of a line on a PT.

I think I'm due tomorrow as I OV earlier this month but my 'app' suggests sat. So we shall see.

Sheddie · 29/04/2015 20:47

Hi everyone. Thinking of you juggling, it must be such a nightmare waiting for test day. Let's hope mumtosammy's luck is catching!
AF arrived for me today so I am booked in for a scan on Friday and all being well I start injections that day.

Don't give up hope yet laptop. It could still happen.

Has it sunk in yet mumtosammy? How did your DH react? Are you telling anyone else or keeping quiet for a few months?

Laptopgirl · 01/05/2015 07:19

??good luck?? sheddie, hope today goes ok.

How's things going juggling and Mum2sammy?

AF is starting to show her ugly face so definitely out for this month ..... Again! I've contacted spire health to ask for prices for an HSG, has anyone had one privately? How much was it, if so.

Thinking of you all. ????

Laptopgirl · 01/05/2015 07:37

Ps - do any of you use 'fertility' app's, if so, any recommendations?

Laptopgirl · 01/05/2015 07:37

Do any of you use fertility 'apps'? If so, any recommendations? ??

Sheddie · 02/05/2015 09:18

Hi Laptop. Yesterday was fine. I have started the injections and there are no where near as bad as you imagine they will be.

Really sorry to hear AF has arrived. I'm not sure how much a HSG would cost privately. Could you not have one on the NHS?

mumtosammy · 05/05/2015 10:49

hi everyone
sorry to hear about AF laptopgirl. glad the injections are going ok sheddie. how are you doing juggling?
it is starting to sink in now Sheddie, we've only told parents so far, i am anxious about it all working out ok. i'm even considering booking a private 'reassurance scan' this time.
I saw the GP but it feels weird to have been discharged by the consultant and i wont be seeing a midwife for ages - she's fully booked up way beyond my 8 week mark and i have questions i already want to ask. am wondering if this means i wont be in the system for an NHS scan until after I see her, or whether the GP would have referred me for that.....
Fingers crossed for all of you.

Hi, sorry everyone. I'm not sure how to say this but we got our bfp. I'm completely shocked and delighted. Feels very unreal at the moment, and I daren't get too excited just in case. After so many years id given up hope if I'm honest. I still can't quite believe it.

Mumtosammy, sorry to hear you're struggling to get your booking in app. Could you go to a midwife in a neighbouring clinic to get things moving?

Sheddie, how are you doing?
Sorry to hear AF has arrived Laptop. I've always used the fertility friend app and found it pretty good.

Hope you're all doing ok.

Sheddie · 05/05/2015 21:56

Wow juggling, that's amazing! The luck must be spreading. I am so happy for you. Do you have any tips? Did you take it really easy after egg transfer etc, or did you change your diet or anything?
I'm expecting to have my egg collection next Weds.

I think I might be inclined to book a private scan mumtosammy just to stop yourself worrying about it. I'm sure it would be worth the money. Hope you are feeling well.

Just us then Laptop! Let's hope this baby dust is catching! x

keeponjuggling · 06/05/2015 09:19

Thank you Sheddie, I can't quite believe it. We were given incredibly low odds, so it feels a little surreal. I won't feel at all relaxed until we've had the 7 wk scan and know all is well.

As far as tips go, I drank loads of water approx 3 litres a day, I've been caffeine and alcohol free for 3 years now (yikes). I just ate healthily, lots of fruit and veg, and plenty protein. I also had acupuncture just after collection and transfer, which I think helped. And, ok bear with me here, I listened to ivf hypnosis CDs. No idea if they worked but they helped me to relax. I took it really easy after transfer, hardly lifted a finger for 2 days and have been trying not to lift DS. The hardest part was the week after collection, time passed so slowly and it was nerve wracking. Make sure you have some movies or box sets lined up for the evenings to pass the time and keep your mind off things. Good luck, fingers crossed for you.

Hope you're ok Laptop?

I agree with Sheddie, mumrosammy I think if book a private scan to put my mind at ease. We might have to do the same, we won't be transferred back to the nhs until after the viability scan. I doubt I'll be able to get an appointment until around wk 10. More pennies on private treatment, but completely worth it :)

mumtosammy · 06/05/2015 10:56

keeponjuggling that's amazing news, congratulations!! i know what you mean about it not feeling real.
it's starting to sink in with me a bit more now.
hope all goes well and you're feeling ok.

Congratulations juggling! ??

Just you and me to go now Shreddie! Fingers crossed and hair plaited for this cycle for us both. ??????

Sheddie · 07/05/2015 20:54

Thank you for the tips juggling. I'm ok on the no caffeine and alcohol, fairly good on the healthy eating, but won't be getting acupuncture so not too bad. I did think about listening to some of my old hypno-birthing CDs, so might try that!

Laptopgirl · 12/05/2015 07:02

How is everyone doing?

Sheddie · 15/05/2015 07:28

Hi Laptop I'm off for my egg collection today so nervous and excited. We'll find out tomorrow how many eggs have fertilised etc.
How are you doing? Is this month 3 of Clomid for you?

mumtosammy · 15/05/2015 15:58

hope it all went well today sheddie, fingers crossed for you

OP posts:
Laptopgirl · 16/05/2015 22:17

How are you feeling?

Month four for me on clomid - it's that DTD time for me - so we will be on 2ww together! Fingers crossed for us both xxxxxxxxx

Sheddie · 16/05/2015 22:30

Egg collection went ok. I got 4 eggs which is not many, but the embryologist called this morning to say they have all fertilised so that is a relief. I will probably be having embryo transfer on Weds. Yes we can be 2WW buddies Laptop! My test date is 1st June.
Happy shagging for you!
Hope you are feeling ok mumtosammy. Did you decide to go for a private scan?
Hope you're ok too Juggling.

henrycocoa · 19/05/2015 11:43

Hi everyone,

Room for a little one? I have 2 DDs, conceived 1st cycle and 3rd cycle. We started trying for DC3 in Jan 2013, got pregnant first cycle and lost the baby at 11.4 weeks.

Since the MC, we have tried for about 18 cycles on and off. I have had the usual blood tests, I have temped regularly so I am pretty sure I'm ovulating. My luteal phase is an annoyingly long 15-16 days. I have tried Vit D, Vit B, Vit E, soya isoflavones, guanefesin, EPO, raspberry leaf tea...

I have booked a doctor's appt for Thursday and I'm feeling very anxious about it Sad

I'm going to ask for a HSG - will I be eligible? I don't feel that the doctors I have seen so far have been terribly sympathetic....

henrycocoa · 19/05/2015 11:45

Oh, and I'm an ancient 38 (I was 35 when we started trying for DC3 Sad )

henrycocoa · 19/05/2015 18:50

Just read the last few pages of the thread - congratulations Juggling & mumtosammy Smile

The age gap issues discussed previously really resonated with me. mumtosammy, my youngest starts school in September too, and I am always wondering now whether the age gap is getting too big. But I bet when you hold your baby in your arms, and you see your DS with his new sibling, the age gap will mean nothing! There is 9 years between me and my younger brother and I love him to bits.
