I've seen other people do them when someone is missing and they generally start them low, like £2000. People seem very surprised at that huge amount of money, especially when there are many, many people volunteering to search.

I can understand a gofundme page to help with loss of earnings, etc, during the search, however the amount they are asking for is ridiculous, and unfortunately as another pp said, they have gone the right away about fuelling conspiracy theories.

As intelligent people, how can they not see this? Unless the stress is clouding their judgement, but even so, seems pretty obvious that people are going to react negatively to this.

Yes. There are lots of nutters on SM manipulating etc. All I can see from this source is them referring to / @ police but nothing on police own website / SM.

This could be fake, the family haven't a announced anything about this have they? Has Emma White posted to draw attention and ask for people to donate!?

Some sick people out there that would definitely create a gofundme to capitalise on this situation. And destroy the families reputation at the same time. Without a statement from her or the family saying this is genuine then I'm going believe it's real.

I also want to believe it's not real.

There is an update on the Lancashire Constabulary website, with time lines etc. Dated today.
