Just thought I'd create a second thread for those following this case.

I have this awful fear they aren’t going to find her now if they don’t find her in the river 😞 I don’t think she’s in there though. The police statement today definitely sounds like the focus is now on this CCTV (or lack of).. you’d think they’d put in a comment about the river too if that was still the main theory they were going on

Allgoodthings1 · 06/02/2023 18:30

@Diverging if it’s happened at 9.20, the person has placed the phone there then taken her away she could have been carried to a car somewhere off the main road could she not? They don’t seem to have any cctv to prove otherwise. I just keep thinking how tiny she is, only 5ft 3 or thereabouts

pigsinoodies · 06/02/2023 18:33

@Allgoodthings1 along a public footpath in broad daylight at a time when everyone's out walking their dogs? It's possible but do you think it's at all likely?

Plitvice · 06/02/2023 18:11

Her partner found the specialist diving company through doing his own research which tells us everything we need to know about Lancashire Police.

The owner sounds like a salesman (has a book out soon) but he was keen to stress that he isn't charging anyone for his services which is a nice gesture.

He went from saying that it would typically take an hour to saying that it would take around three days.

That ones quite obvious to answer though, right?

the hour is based on their expertise they’d know where she is. But if she’s not in there, they are going to have to take 4 days to search the whole area. So it’s 4 days assuming effectively she’s not in there.

Plitvice · 06/02/2023 18:37

ofwarren · 06/02/2023 18:23

Think that's near their house though. Getting into the car.

That was probably provided by neighbours or her partner to them. It doesn't really inspire confidence in their handling of the case.

Sadly, if she is not found, then it will probably be a case of each side claiming that the other was not easy to work with at the time and turn into a permanently unsolved mystery like the disappearance of Maddy. That will be so hard for her children.

Peverellshire · 06/02/2023 18:40

There were x6 involved, helping at scene, acc to early reports, including, x2 who attempted to help ‘get the phone off the lockscreen’ & x1 who flagged fishing bait may have lured dog to river’s edge. Her photo was half (?) recognised & then similarly re: dog.

Bluebellwood129 · 06/02/2023 18:41

Please could someone explain which stretch of the river SGI searched today - was it the stretch between the weir and the estuary or the stretch between the bench and the weir? Would a body be carried over the weir itself?

It doesn't actually have to have been that short a timeframe though.
There is a potential window of between 9:10 and when the dog was collected and the police called.
Just because a witness didn't see or hear anything doesn't necessarily mean there was nobody there.

@pigsinoodies Alice Gross and Ashling Murphy have both been murdered (separately) along canal paths over the last few years.. both around 4pm, which would be a busy dog walking time. Some of these weirdos don’t seem to care about the risk of being caught

Peverellshire · 06/02/2023 18:46

@Bluebellwood129 there’s a clip with expert stating why practically impossible for a body to be washed out to sea, plus answers your questions.

Diverging · 06/02/2023 18:46

Unless it happened near the upper or lower fields. Could someone carry a person across a field? That field is next to another field near the caravan park.

I guess someone could have been parked there. It still seems hard to believe someone wouldn’t have spotted a man carrying someone across 2 or 3 fields and into a car. How many people actually were around? There were witnesses but not actually that many. Isn’t it only 2 or 3 people the police have mentioned? Plus the caravan park woman.

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 06/02/2023 18:47

I do wonder if Nicola's phone and the harness was found by an innocent passerby in the field who put them on the bench so they would be more visible to the seeker. If Nicola didn't leave the field where she was last seen then it doesn't necessarily mean there was any third party involvement. I am sure the caravan park and any cars parked in it would have been checked.

Me too. Hopefully these threads will be deleted at some point.

Agreed. I said this on the last thread, and am saying it again now.

The police say they have checked vacant caravans.
I think they should he checking all the caravans to be honest.
There is a huge pond on the caravan park too which hasn't been checked.

Allgoodthings1 · 06/02/2023 18:49

@justgettingthroughtheday I also did wonder this but the dog was tied up by this witness at 9.33 before she had to rush off and then wait some time before informing anyone about it. If you remove that account from the timeframe there is well over an hour when none of her family were aware she was missing and although people were potentially out walking, they weren’t necessarily aware there was a missing person so could have been walking along with earphones in not paying attention

Murdering someone is one thing. Walking half a mile with them and manhandling them into a car on a busy main road is something else.

She was. This has changed. Either someone who wrote the web page lancashire.police.uk/news/2023/february/missing-nicola-bulley-latest-update/?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=Orlo cocked up, or else they were wrong before. Either way, this is not creating confidence that the police know what they are doing.

Yes and also the gilet has changed to knee length (as evidenced by the cctv images) from the ankle length gilet quoted by superintendent Sally Riley in the press conference. It was made clear how important the clothing description was in said press conference. A PP mentioned (I paraphrase) ‘why are you armchair sleuths so hung up on the length of the gilet’ . Well, because a description is (as the police said) important. And yet they got it wrong. It matters.

Peverellshire · 06/02/2023 18:53

@Diverging

  1. Witness spoke to x2 people who ‘were the last to see Nicola’
  2. Second ‘pair’ who struggled with phone lock screen by bench
  3. Witness themselves
  4. Fishing bait (suggested lured dog to edge) person, who suggested’medical episode’ to witness

Witness had interaction with x5 & x6, including, them, at scene:

Surely attention to detail is crucial in cases like these. What other mistakes have been made?

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 06/02/2023 18:54

@ofwarren agree.

ofwarren · 06/02/2023 18:55

Peter Faulding has just tweeted, sharing some photos of today.
He's got a good one of above Wyresdale Caravan Park.
You can see the chicken coops on the top left of the path.

Agreed. I said this on the last thread, and am saying it again now.

There’s a difference between speculating about individual’s behaviour (which we’re not doing) and running through the feasibility of different scenarios.

Also some people are coming up with areas close by that might not have been searched by the police. That might be useful info.

mumof31968 · 06/02/2023 18:57

hope they find her one way or another.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 06/02/2023 18:58

The most logical thing is she went to the rivers edge to look at something, to help her dog or whatever and has fallen in.

Maybe the dog even barreled into her and sent her flying in to the water. It's impossible to know but I believe she's in that river. It must be absolutely horrendous for her family not knowing. Her poor girls. :(
