Just thought I'd create a second thread for those following this case.

Agree, he was briefed last night and again this morning, and he’s now totally changed his position and said he believes she’s in the water. Which leads me to believe the police have told him something that’s changed his mind, there isn’t another explanation, as he doesn’t seem like a fool.

as he doesn’t seem like a fool

I disagree.

I read that the images I've seen where taken from the family's home, ie before she took her children to school. So I agree it'd be no surprise if she put the gilet on after that point.

She is wearing a gilet in those images. It is just hard to tell as it is a black puffa style gilet over a black jacket, so it looks like one piece, eg a coat. If you look closely at the shoulders you can see that the puffa gilet ends there and the jacket underneath has smoother sleeves.
The only difference is that it is knee length not ankle length as initially reported.

davegrohll · 06/02/2023 12:42

@Activelyannoyed ahh, okay thanks

I think his point about building a good working relationship with the police is very important too. They're working as one team now to hopefully provide some for Nicola's family and friends.

Bluebellwood129 · 06/02/2023 12:43

*answers - sorry, about that.

Baxdream · 06/02/2023 12:54

This is incredibly sad. I believe she is in the water. I really hope they find her quickly. This must be torture for the family.

These happen incredibly regularly but for some reason this case has hit the news. I guess normally it's males on nights out. Although they hit local news, it rarely gets further than that.

I do have some knowledge of these type of cases and it does normally take a couple of weeks to find the body if she is in the water.

I agree, I just don’t think he’d say I think she’s in there based in evidence we have, if that wasn’t the case, I think he’d just keep it to if she’s in there, and leave it at that.

he’s done a complete 180, so I think he now knows more than before.

Apparently in the full interview his exact words are “i do believe she is in here from the evidence that we’ve got at the moment”

He says “if she is in there we will find her “ , not “she is in there”.
I hope that if she is in there that she is that she is found today.

Some people are absolute fucking lunatics though. This kind of “mystery” brings out the absolute worst of them. I remember it was the same when Joanna Yeates went missing. People taking it upon themselves to “retrace her steps” buying the pizza etc.

I’ve just seen one woman on twitter berating the search team for their late start today and “can we aim tomorrow for an early start?” Like who the fuck is she, their line manager??

Then there are ones who have “deep dived” and feel entitled to info about the family’s finances etc.

this is just a couple of examples. The worst are the ones who have decided absolutely that her partner/sister is guilty. As if the police haven’t thought of that. They always think they know better.

Don’t even get me started on the absolute ghouls who have GONE TO THE SITE.

I don’t…who ARE these people??

Utter craziness.

HymenOrNot · 06/02/2023 13:00

Well a couple of things he'll know now after being briefed are exactly how thoroughly the police have searched the river and more about the detailed topography of the search area

Perhaps that has changed his mind somewhat

davegrohll · 06/02/2023 13:01

But haven't the family said there is no evidence she is in the water ?
So it makes you wonder if this guy is now just repeating the same words police have said, otherwise why wouldn't they tell the family whatever they've told the search team ?

pigsinoodies · 06/02/2023 13:09

He's also said that the body would sink to the bottom and would just be rolled along the river bed a bit.

If that's the case it wouldn't have gone over the weir so it's inconsistent with them being put to work on the stretch between the weir and the estuary.

I think he claimed yesterday that he'd be able to pinpoint the likely position of a body within minutes due to his vast experience?

60smusic · 06/02/2023 13:09

I can't seem to find any info on whether the police checked all along the river for Slip marks or just at the bench area?

Bluebellwood129 · 06/02/2023 13:19

Again, so much conflicting information.

Yeah
In other sources it says 3 days

Bluebellwood129 · 06/02/2023 13:24

@davegrohll It was posted online about 40 mins ago but no idea when the interview took place. It doesn't seem to align at all with other information from today.

Sounds like he has backtracked on his comments to Sky and GB News.

drivinmecrazy · 06/02/2023 13:35

Personally I think that Peter Faulding has proven himself far from professional thus far.
Surely the nature of his work and his self proclaimed strong working relationship with police forces in SE would preclude him from making assumptions from the outset?
He speaks as if his initial position is set as proving she's not in the water.
How professional can his company be when they have a bias either way?
Isn't it all about gathering evidence and letting that speak?

And now he's backtracked and says he's sure he'll provide answers within two or three days?

I think he's no better than those peddling their own narrative although in his case he obviously has a lot to gain.

Loads of free PR so what does he have to lose?

His current contracts with the police based on his conduct over this.

I've just watched that GB News interview again and he's stoking the sensationalism,.the crackpot theories and the criticism of the police.

pigsinoodies · 06/02/2023 13:39

As well as bigging himself up with bullshit claims.
