Just thought I'd create a second thread for those following this case.

I don’t see why it can’t be discussed on here. It’s not like a family Facebook page with abusive messages directed to individuals.

I agree. It is natural that people want to talk about this, a woman missing, with young children at home, it is very distressing and obviously people are worried.
Of course accidentally falling into the river is the most likely reason, but with the absence of any specific evidence people will be feeling empathy for her family of course but also worried in case a crime has been committed.
I actually find it touching that people all over Britain and even abroad are thinking of her family and desperately hoping that she will be found.
There can be unpleasant speculation about the possible guilt of individuals in cases like this, and that should not be allowed, but discussion, concern, fear etc is totally natural. We are all humans, we are all connected.
I have direct experience of a similar situation with a close family member, so I am not saying this lightly.

AutumnCrow · 06/02/2023 09:39

Nicola Bulley was just walking her dog. Now she’s missing.

It taps into the fears of a lot of women. Hence the discussion on here.

A common theme has been posters trying to make sense of the confusing published timeline(s); and to express concern that the police are are top of this disappearance. Understandable, when women are concerned about a woman who has started to represent a whole lot of their fears.

But yes, much of the websleuthing best belongs on Websleuths.

I've read a few things. Can anyone confirm these things are true facts. 1. She owned a caravan at the caravan park which was also used as the registered business address of her partners business. 2. She was last seen nearer to the caravan park than the river. 3. The person who found the phone and harness owned the caravan park. 4 the cctv camera at the caravan park were disabled. 5 There’s no evidence she was at the bench, only belongings and dog were there…

@Suzi888 I hadn't heard that NB owned a caravan there, that's an interesting fact and a bit unusual.

BesidetheseasideXxx · 06/02/2023 09:49

I'm quite confused at the police description of her clothing vs the images of her on that morning that we can see now. I remember thinking that an ankle length gilet sounds like quite an unusual item of clothing during the news update, and obviously they got that wrong.
I am thinking of Nicola every day and hoping her friends and family get some awnsers soon.

As far as I'm aware, it's a caravan on Larbreck, which is the next village over. Great Eccleston.

Crumpetdisappointment · 06/02/2023 09:50

it is not unsual to own a caravan, perhaps it was a towing caravan, or whatever it is called.

davegrohll · 06/02/2023 09:50

Not sure about the rest but I think 3 & 4 has been mentioned in the media

It's one of those long gilets that are longline, so not quite ankle length but not far off either

Hopefully today brings some news and quickly, for her family.

I think it’s got a bit out of control. Apparently people are going up there and playing detective, one man was apparently doing house to house enquiries, Numerous “clairvoyants” saying they know where she is.

The police have failed to treat the area as a crime scene and cordon it off, so hundreds of people are going there for a look, so if there is a slim chance something criminal happened there, rhe chance of trace evidence is now non existent.

the fear everyone has is, what if she isn’t in the river. that’s why this is such a big deal to everyone. It doesn’t bear thinking about if something criminal has happened or is happening.

so I hope this gets resolved today and her poor family can get some closure.

I agree

EarringsandLipstick · 06/02/2023 10:00

there will be finger pointing, suspicions and accusations among the people of St Michael's on Wyre.

Of course there won't be. It is a deeply tragic accident.

Your posts are in really poor taste

How is my comment in poor taste? Of course there will finger pointing, suspicions and accusations among the people of St Michael's on Wyre or let's say among some people, until the case is solved as either being a tragic accident or a potential perpetrator caught and jailed. As long as she is missing in these very confusing circumstances, people will wonder and look over the shoulder. I genuinely do not get your comment.

AndysAudi · 06/02/2023 10:07

@EarringsandLipstick Can I ask how do you know this is a deeply tragic accident? Has the case been solved? Any evidence? Your comment is really odd.

mummywithtwokidsplusdog · 06/02/2023 10:08

I hope and pray Nicola is found today. Her daughters must be distraught 🙏

@EarringsandLipstick Can I ask how do you know this is a deeply tragic accident? Has the case been solved? Any evidence? Your comment is really odd.

The police have said that is their working hypothesis.

There is absolutely no evidence of any foul play or third party involvement and this was stated very early on.

I think your speculative posts are simply awful.

AndysAudi · 06/02/2023 10:15

@EarringsandLipstick what am I speculating that is so awful? Can you give an example? I didn't say anything other than an accident has happened, how would I know? There is no evidence that an accident did or didn't happen.

If something valuable goes missing in a classroom, the teacher can't find it and no-one fesses up, the children will talk about this and speculate among themselves who may have take it or that it got lost rather than taken.

I am merely pointing out that this is human nature not speculating about anything myself.

justgettingthroughtheday · 06/02/2023 10:15

NerrSnerr · 06/02/2023 08:46

@Strictlyfanoftenyears is that what you'd tell her family too? They've asked for the public to stop with their vile speculation.

It's not entertainment. It's real life.

The family have asked for speculation around individuals and their involvement to stop. Rightfully so!
The family have actively encouraged people to question the events that happened and the police's narrative around it.

On the pdf map of the river posted by User45378754 on page 1 of this thread, there's an area marked "Civil Service Stretch" on the left hand side. What does that mean? And in general, are there any buildings or areas within a 5 mile radius which local people don't know what they are, or are "off limits" or....just anything like that?

'Civil Service Stretch' just means it's fished by the Civil Service Angling Society.

I think it’s fair to say there is also no evidence of her falling in the river.

applying critical thinking is important. We do not live in some form of dictator state where we have to accept what officials say without questioning it.

her family and friends are all over the media saying there is no evidence she’s fallen in, that the police jumped to this conclusion, without doing any proper investigation

now I suspect the police are right, but I will never agree that we should blindly believe what we are told and not be permitted to challenge it.

AndysAudi · 06/02/2023 10:19

What's all this insistence that we should stop talking about NB without singling out any individuals? Quite aggressive in the way they want to shut this thread down Hmm

NB's friends and relatives want people to talk about this without blaming individuals. If you don't want to read about, hide the thread @EarringsandLipstick . It's really quite simple.

Exactly this- An ankle length gilet is absolutely not what Nicola was seen wearing.
A knee length sleeved padded down type coat is what she appears to be wearing.
Her legs would be far less impeded in a knee length coat.

I hope that the Forensic water search expert will be allowed to use his superior equipment to scan the waterway.

He seems unconvinced that Nicola is even in the water.

That's badly phrased and sounds like I want to discuss and finger point, which is obviously not the case. What I mean is: what's all this insistence that we stop talking about NB? As long as we don't single out any individuals it's fine IMO.

The Larbreck address from Companies House is a house next to the caravan park. It looks like it's just a previous address.

EarringsandLipstick · 06/02/2023 10:24

that the police jumped to this conclusion, without doing any proper investigation

Of course they didn't. They are experienced and have reasons for determining the most likely scenario.

The family are of course questioning everything and will leave no stone unturned.

It is entirely false to say the police did no proper investigation. I have not seen the family say this (tho perhaps)

I don't want to continue to be part of such an invasive & inappropriate thread. The hyperbolic statements talking about years of finger pointing are what is distasteful. This isn't a TV drama.
