Just thought I'd create a second thread for those following this case.

Too much Netflickery desensitises people. What’s next - a burger van or a pop up matiki bar? River cruise?

At the very least that bench should have been cordoned off and the thinks sent packing .

Activelyannoyed · 05/02/2023 22:31

Yes I am really surprised at that, I’d have thought they’d cordon it off.

Why would they?

SlaveToTheVibe · 05/02/2023 23:22

…. Because it’s tasteless as fuck to have people taking selfies on the bench?

And who is going to be there to stop people doing that?

OnSecondThoughts · 05/02/2023 23:32

On the pdf map of the river posted by User45378754 on page 1 of this thread, there's an area marked "Civil Service Stretch" on the left hand side. What does that mean? And in general, are there any buildings or areas within a 5 mile radius which local people don't know what they are, or are "off limits" or....just anything like that?

Mistressofnone · 05/02/2023 23:45

Glad to hear Peter Faulding's team may be helping. The poor family must be in turmoil.

I am so back & forth between thinking the police hypothesis must be correct and then something is not sitting right. I think because she is young and beautiful, she fits the profile of so many other women who have gone missing before.

Rosyjayne · 06/02/2023 00:49

As a dog owner, the thing that I find most interesting is that the dog was found “anxious” etc running around, but I would think that if she had fallen in the river, there’s a 99% chance that when the dog was found he would have been barking at the river. Dogs are so intelligent and intuitive, they go crazy if they see a little critter running under something etc and bark over and over at the spot. I’m sure if she had fallen in and the dog was there, he’d be showing clear indicators like this that she was in the, trying to show people where she was and attract their attention to the river.
from what the friends and family of Nicola have said, I think it’s clear that they don’t believe she has fallen in the river, and that the police should be exploring other possibilities, e.g. that something criminal has taken place. I would have thought the only reason she would have gone near the water would be if her dog had fallen in and she had ran over to help her and dropped the harness, but the dog was bone dry. I really hope they start investigating alternative possibilities soon as time is crucial when looking for a missing person.
my heart goes out to her little girls and her husband and her poor family. They know Nicola better than anyone and If they believe something else has happened to her the police need to crack on quickly and take their opinions seriously.

Her family are going through a nightmare and we have no right to rubberneck or make ill informed inferences. Yes, I'm posting here but I am going to ask for this thread to be deleted. Probably won't be but shame on the person for starting a second thread.

Interesting @OnSecondThoughts . I'd love to know too.

On an unrelated note, do people fish in this river, are there regular hobby anglers in the area?

Some of these comments are ridiulous. I don't think the police need some armchair detectives who've watched a few episodes of Line of Duty to tell them what to do. I also don't think this distasteful thread is helping the family.

Several of us have but mn hq seemingly don’t care.

so I suggest that as many of us as possible post on it so it fills up quickly.

User45378754 · 06/02/2023 07:11

Do we know if the dog remained tied up to the bench for over an hour from when woman who came across it to when PA arrived? That’s a long time. Or did it slip its harness again? Do we know if others walked past in this hour?

SlaveToTheVibe · 06/02/2023 07:24

Nicknacky · 05/02/2023 23:28

Why are you so aggressive?

I didn’t mention a police guard. 🤷‍♀️
just cordon the damn thing off.

Renind the ghouls they’re not at a funfair

SlaveToTheVibe · 06/02/2023 07:26

If that divers fancy tech doesn’t find anything, the police are going to be in such deep shit. No crime scene left.

Crumpetdisappointment · 06/02/2023 07:30

there have been ghoulish people for centuries,
ie those going for a walk at the scene,
searching

I don't know but ting up the dog is cruel, which of the witnesses did this? The dog could get into trouble being tied up.

Activelyannoyed · 06/02/2023 07:37

Hopefully today brings some news and quickly, for her family.

I think it’s got a bit out of control. Apparently people are going up there and playing detective, one man was apparently doing house to house enquiries, Numerous “clairvoyants” saying they know where she is.

The police have failed to treat the area as a crime scene and cordon it off, so hundreds of people are going there for a look, so if there is a slim chance something criminal happened there, rhe chance of trace evidence is now non existent.

the fear everyone has is, what if she isn’t in the river. that’s why this is such a big deal to everyone. It doesn’t bear thinking about if something criminal has happened or is happening.

so I hope this gets resolved today and her poor family can get some closure.

Crumpetdisappointment · 06/02/2023 07:38

tying up; the dog is not cruel
she was on her own
the person who found the dog went to find help - what would you have done?

Did she go to find help? Or did she rush off to an appointment and only after call her DIL who called PA (via the school?) after her appointment at 10:50?

Crumpetdisappointment · 06/02/2023 07:45

hmm, i guess that is finding help though

Did she go back then after her appointment to find that the dog was still there?

If the divers don't find her, it still doesn't mean she definitely hasn't gone in. She could be in the Irish Sea by now.

Who on earth made the decision not to treat the area as a crime scene or at least restrict access to the public? Her poor family.
