Ooh I am ghoulishly following this. I live near Cambois 5inthebed. Everyone knows it's pronounced Cam-boys .

I have learnt a new phrase from the coverage "Roid rage".

saffy202 · 06/07/2010 21:24

We live in Northumberland and ds2 had the Police at school today on what was obviously a pre-arranged talk but they mentioned it slightly to the children and came in plain clothes saying they weren't allowed to wear their uniforms.

I also work for adult social care and everyone was told not to go to Rothbury or Longhorsley today.

Tis very scarey. I had to go out to see to the guinea pigs last night and I must admit I did worry he was hiding in the shed!

juneybean · 06/07/2010 21:56

I'm surprised at all the North Easters who have come out of the woodwork on this thread why are you never on our meet ups !!

5inthebed · 06/07/2010 22:04

Because nobody would recognises me from the boards

juneybean · 06/07/2010 22:05

What do you mean??

5inthebed · 06/07/2010 22:11

I mean that I've not been around long enough to turn up at a meet up. Nobody would know who I was. I'd be like that weirdo that turns up everywhere but nobody knows who they are

Back to the post at hand, is Rothbury still closed then?

Curiousmama · 06/07/2010 22:20

I've always been 'out' juneybean Been here since '04! Ok have had a couple of names but stuck with this one for ages.

siblingrivalry · 06/07/2010 22:26

I'm in Durham, so not close by, but am thrilled to see so many locals on this thread!
Hinnypet, dh's grandad keeps the Courant for us to 'enjoy' -your post made me

HinnyPet · 06/07/2010 22:37

What meet ups? Ha ha!

Nobody organises NOWT up here

There are so many funny place names up here. Looking forward to the TV presenters visiting Cowpula (Cow poo la)

juneybean · 06/07/2010 22:53

The durham lot have them quite regular :P Am in Washington so Durham is easy to get to for me

hollyoaks · 06/07/2010 22:53

Yeah, they'll be at cowpen soon

Live close to Rothbury and have to admit feeling a little nervous. Had an unmarked policeman parked behind me yesterday which had me thinking he was in the vicinity.

Curiousmama · 06/07/2010 23:21

I went to a London meet up once but know a couple of mumsnetters so was good to meet them. Haven't been to a local one though.

StealthPolarBear · 07/07/2010 07:55

5 and siblingrivalry, when I go to the meet ups most of the time I have no idea who anyone is on MN and I don't think they know who I am. It took a few meetups before I linked juneybean to her RL person!
Please come, they are fun!

and vice versa of course - I don't think any of the others go home thinking "ooh that SPB is just as pretty, witty and intelligent as I thought she'd be!"

no fair to mock non-locals for mispronunciation of place names - I'd like to let you lot loose in Norfolk & see how you get on!

StealthPolarBear · 07/07/2010 11:07

yeah Fio if he turns up with a sling he'll just blend right in

OP posts:
LaDiDaDi · 07/07/2010 11:22

What did they say for Coquetdale? Cockwetdale???

Not mocking Ponders, just trying to get some amusement out of an otherwise shit situation.

Poshwellies · 07/07/2010 11:34

I'm shocked that the police force (and special branch) are taking so long to find him-over 4 days now?!

They are saying he's left another note now,and they found where he was camping but no sign of him

hollyoaks · 07/07/2010 12:26

LaDiDaDi - yeah, cocketdale

Ponders - surely you would check before you went on air.

5inthebed · 07/07/2010 12:28

I really don't like the fact they've not caught him yet. I can't understand either how they never watched his friends house, especially as he had already been there before. That was just around the corner from my mams, next street along.

Sorry, wasn't mocking, just slightly amused. I was also amused at the way the news reporters were pronouncing some of the South African football stadium names.

I might go along to the next meet up, if I can lose a few stone before and buy some Boden

Eleison · 07/07/2010 12:34

How about a meet-up at Cragside? Dress code: Boden and body armour.
