Yes, me too

God am knackered, woke up soooo early and couldn't sleep as had all this whirring around in my head. Am doing some work (though I don't work on Fridays) as really didn't do anything yesterday!

Thank goodness dh is at home today (they have been told to stay at home).

cutekids · 08/07/2005 09:24

i was reading all your messages yesterday and was particularly concerned about "piffle" whose ex was apparently in the area of one of the bomb blasts. has anyone heard from her since?

hester · 08/07/2005 14:31

Here I am, always late to the party

I always go into work on the Circle Line, but fortunately had to go in early yesterday for an 8am meeting. Split the day between the hospital where I work (where most of the casualties were taken) and my office, which is round the corner from Aldgate. the roads were cordoned off so it was eerily quiet - just lots of sirens and helicopters.

I had planned to walk home (to Kensington!) but in the end decided that at six months pregnant this wasn't a great idea. Stayed overnight with a friend near the hospital, and have just got home.

So glad London MNetters seem to be all ok. I'm sure over the next few days many of us will find out about people we know who were in some way involved, and there will be a secondary emotional impact . Keep your chins up, everyone.

Glad you did not feel tempted to leg it Hester, assumed you de luxe zone-oners would be much worse affected on the journey home than us suburban drones
Was thinking of you and your colleagues a lot yesterday and wondering if you were on-site or working from home
I do hope lisalisa and Azure, both also pg, got home safe and sound. Azure had a cab booked but lisalisa was very concerned about how she would get back...

Miaou · 08/07/2005 15:17

Azure got back ok, she's been on the August antenatal thread this morning

All the best to everyone in London and those directly affected by what's going on.

binkie · 08/07/2005 15:21

Yes I've been wondering about lisalisa too. Anyone heard anything? I do hope the silence is because she's decided to take today off and doesn't have access at home.

Also DickWhittingtonsCat, but I think she lives near enough to her work that she walks?

hester · 08/07/2005 15:42

Hi dinosaur, am hoping we will finally get to have that lunch next week

Hi marina, yes us Circle Line princesses are taking this all very personally! At one stage in the morning there was a report that there had been a bus bomb in Kensington and I found myself thinking, "Surely they wouldn't dare to attack KENSINGTON"

I felt very sorry yesterday for everyone with small children. I have a new staff member at work, a single parent with two tinies who lives miles out. She was so upset, shocked and anxioius that I had to get her a minicab (they didn't charge anything over the usual rate, bless them), press money into her hand, and physically escort her out the door. Then I went to stay with a friend who lives locally and her little boy was very upset. His mum assured him that there were unlikely to be any bombs in Hackney, because there's nothing important enough to bomb there. He said, in a very small voice, "Well, they could bomb my school! That's important. And the adventure playground!" Poor little man

KBear · 08/07/2005 15:51

Hi girls, weird kind of day up here isn't it. Kind of back to normal but not quite.

Marina · 08/07/2005 15:54

Poor little chap hester
We told ds the basics (he can read newspapers now and billboards etc, we thought we needed to get in first - and also the phone kept ringing yesterday pm, which alerted him to a temporary change in his parents' withered social lives)
and he just said, puzzled, "I know they are bad people, but how could anyone be so wicked?" without having the faintest idea of the enormity of the atrocity

Marina · 08/07/2005 15:57

kbear it is isn't it. M & S at lunchtime was like those scenes in the westerns with just some tumbleweed blowing in the wind...then a police car went blaring by and we all jumped out of our skins.
I did think there'd be more people around. A lot of companies have clearly told people not to come in

LOL Beetroot.
I haven't told DS about it, but if I did he would be sure it was The Normans, since our visit to Battle.

Marina · 08/07/2005 16:13

I am waiting for ds to pin it on the Slitheen, his fixation-villains of the moment.

KBear · 08/07/2005 16:14

my fab boss has told me to leave early and who am I to argue? Safe journey home all.

Marina - you must work right near me, M&S is my second home! I'm in Moorgate.

Marina · 08/07/2005 16:16

I'm in the Barbican kbear - safe home XXX

soapbox · 08/07/2005 18:36

Marina

Lets get together for lunch soon - would be nice to put a name to your face next time we might need to share a cab home. God forbid that it is in such awful circumstances next time

Kayleigh · 09/07/2005 10:42

Have put a meet-up thread here
So far me, dino and possibly hoxtonchick and her babychick. Any more ?

KBear · 09/07/2005 12:43

binkie · 11/07/2005 10:24

Just wanted to say, I've heard from DickWhittingtonsCat and she & ds are fine.

My thoughts are with those who haven't had good news.

Marina · 11/07/2005 10:36

Oh good binkie, thanks for the update.
