I'm a mainline commuter, into Cannon Street then walk to Moorgate or bus from London Bridge, don't use the tube (hate it generally). I feel that if I don't go tomorrow I never will! Will see what the news is in the morning I think.

hoxtonchick · 07/07/2005 19:54

bundle is fine, she didn't go into work today.

bluebear · 07/07/2005 20:37

I'm back from Russell Square. Bus was a few hundred yards away. Hospital staff were running out with bandages, blankets etc and hospital canteen was turned into a makeshift ward for walking wounded.
We were told to stay inside the building if poss. as they originally thought the bus bomb was a 'dirty bomb'.

kid · 07/07/2005 20:56

I was just going to check if there was any news from Bundle.

Dh is trying to plan his route to work tomorrow, he is planning on getting up extra early to get there. He feels bad that he wasn't there to sort things out for the other staff today.

Posey · 07/07/2005 20:57

Sounds like we've all been very lucky. We are about a 10 min walk from Kings Cross and nearish to others, all a bit close to home.
We are lucky in that dd is at a very local school so no commuting and dh cycles and wasn't starting work til 4pm anyway. Sil, who's lateness drives me mad sometimes, was late for work today so actually avoided possibly being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Pretty freaky being out earlier and seeing people wandering along with sooty faces.

Wishing everyone well.

My husband is home and I have never been so relieved to see him. I would like to thank everyone who updated the travel details regularly as I was able to email them to him. Without you he would not be home tonight! But he might have met Frogs and had some delicious pirate cake...

RTKM - you are a star!

marthamoo · 07/07/2005 21:28

Is everyone OK and accounted for then? My brother is home at last, which I'm very glad about.

As an aside, I was quite impressed by Tony Blair (and I'm not a fan). Couldn't help contrasting him with George W when news of September 11th broke. None of this disappearing off to secret bunkers - TB made a statement and went straight back to London. Ken Livingstone's speech made me cry.

It's been a harrowing day for me, safely up here in Cheshire - can only begin to imagine what it's been like for those of you caught up in it.

kid · 07/07/2005 21:30

HappyHuggy has a friend that is still unaccounted for

Heathcliffscathy · 07/07/2005 21:30

marthamoo · 07/07/2005 21:32

Not a Mumsnetter i don't think but i also go on another parenting site!

A lady there is 15 weeks pg, has lost her baby (charlie) has had her leg amputated and is unconscious, apparently not looking at all good! Not sure what tube etc she was on!

PLEASE PLEASE SAY A PRAYER THAT SHE PULSS THROUGH, FOR HER FAMILY.

THANKS BECS XX

Janh · 07/07/2005 22:51

I don't do prayers, but she has all my best wishes and thoughts, shiraz. Poor woman.

handlemecarefully · 07/07/2005 23:07

Shiraz, that is awful.

I know you can't really prioritise people and everyone's life is completely precious, but my first almost primal instinct / thought on hearing the news was "please don't let any pregnant women or children be involved". As I reflected of course my list got longer - or any fathers or mothers...or sisters..or brothers...

CountessDracula · 07/07/2005 23:10

News on the 8month pg woman from my work....

she was on the next carriage on the Aldgate East train to the one that was bombed. She arrived at work covered in glass and soot, got checked out, then someone came and picked her up. She was amazingly calm, I really hope that she is still ok

Puff · 07/07/2005 23:18

Shiraz

Hope your colleague is ok CD

chicagomum · 08/07/2005 00:10

i'm in chicago at the moment but live in london my husband would have been at moorgate at that time had we been in uk it doesn't bear thinking about, we've spent a frantic day getting in touch with family and friends back in london and am thankful to report all are fine

tigermoth · 08/07/2005 07:38

everyone who was or still is worried for themselves and their loved ones, I am sending you a {{{{{{{hug}}}}}}}}

None of our family were near any of the bombings, but I was still so shaken by it all. Luckily I have a day's holiday from work today as there's an inset day at school.

kid · 08/07/2005 07:48

DH got a bus into tottenham court road this morning. He said it was desserted, no roads were blocked off that he passed. It did take him about 30 minutes longer than usual to get there.

Shiraz · 08/07/2005 07:53

Countess Dracula, how brave of your colleague! I hope she is okay!!!
