Why can't people just leave us alone

Amberlight I was referring to the catholic church's stance on drug taking not homosexuality. The catechism states that not only is taking drugs an abuse on the body but the trafficking etc is evil.Quite how you can reconcile being glad a drug trafficker was killed with actually partaking yourself is beyond me.

amberlight · 16/01/2010 19:49

Eh? I wasn't glad about a drug trafficker being killed? I'm guessing the second sentence was to someone else, noddyholder?

noddyholder · 16/01/2010 20:13

Sorry yes it was!

Lovecat;

I know you don't want to engage with me anymore but I wanted to reply to you, hopefully you will take a minute out to read this.

The Briton executed in China was executed under Chinese law, who are we to tell China how to run their country ? we can't even run our own country properly. From what I can remember, there was little or no medical evidence to support his claims of mental illness, I'm sure most of us could claim some sort of disabilty if it kept us from being executed.

And It's not ignorant to say that if homosexuality is presented as "normal" more people will try it...look what happened when cannabis was reclassified from a class B drug to a class C drug.....the reclassification sent out messages that cannabis was pretty harmless and more people started smoking it.

I have said a 1000 times that I don't want homosexuals discriminated against, I just don't want my primary age children being told it is completely normal behaviour.

I know you think I'm a lost cause, (and thank you for praying for me) but I hope you can at least try to understand me and what I'm saying.

Noooooo!

You did not just equate recreational drug use and sexuality?

While claiming not to be ignorant?

2shoes · 16/01/2010 21:26

how can an intelligent woman think drug taking and homosexuality are in the same league.
one is an addiction/life choice, the other is the way you are born.

pooexplosions · 16/01/2010 21:45

I think the key word is intelligent there?

How can anyone seriously argue that teaching young children about homosexuality might encourage them to try it? Its pretty fucked up if you think that primary age kids are experimenting with sex, quite apart from the fact that gayness isn't actually catching!

My 5 year old knows that being gay is normal and harmless, having gay relatives isn't going to make him have a go at gay sex. My husband grew up with a gay uncle, hes never been tempted by men!

daftpunk · 16/01/2010 22:00

Pexp;

I was referring to my sons age group (yr 5)....I wasn't suggesting young children were experimenting with sex in a physical sense, but at 10/11 they are starting to think about it....otherwise, what point would there be in teaching children that homosexuality is normal if they haven't got a clue what sex is..?

OP posts:
pooexplosions · 16/01/2010 22:10

Because, as you have been told a million times before, it has little to do with sex. You can teach children about being gay without ever mentioning sex. My children don't know what sex is, but they know that men can marry men and women can live with women etc.
If you teach them that it is normal when they are very young, it isn't an issue for them later on, if anything it would make them less likely to experiment as it wouldn't be anything unusual or exotic.

Mmmmmm, maybe you're right.

Can you answer me something (if you're still around)..

Why are there so many gay men on TV and hardly any gay women....is it because gay men are funny and like a good time, and gay women are boring serious and a bit militant..?

There are gay women on TV but maybe they are just less obvious. I don't have a huge list of examples to hand because I don't watch that much TV and I'm a bit ancient but I can't think of many women much funnier with a better laugh than Sandi Tosvig (or however she spells it)

daftpunk · 16/01/2010 22:37

I haven't seen that film LG, but have heard it's awful.

(think you're dp is going to overtake me this week....I have had a V. bad day!)

im with daftpunk on this

TheFallenMadonna · 16/01/2010 22:39

Do you mean gay women, or do you mean obviously gay women, or characters rather than real people? Becauase how would you know if, for example, a newsreader was gay?

there are plenty of gay women on tv, you're just too thick to notice oblivious as they don't conform to your narrow minded stereotypes.

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 16/01/2010 23:05

daftpunk · 16/01/2010 23:19
