X - posts I think re the framing as I was referring to Dittany's post. There was a hypothesis raised before any evidence was gathered that this was a 3 way sex crime. The inital crime scene evidence showed that there WAS a sex crime, but involving Guede - and "possibly" others.

They stuck to that story despite the initial evidence not really backing it up. Every thing else seems to be an attempt to make the "facts" fit the hypothesis. There has been clutching at straws. Still I remain prepared to be convinced. Show me the evidence that puts AK in that room! And don't mention the knife!!!

"Show me the evidence that puts AK in that room!"

To me the fact that she mentioned the wardrobe puts her there.

scarletlilybug · 13/12/2009 18:47

The attempted clean-up, the staged burglary, the staged sexual assault, the fact that Meredith's body was moved several hours after her death and the footprints of RS and AK, set in Meredith's blood, also point to the fact that Guede did not act alone.

scarletlilybug · 13/12/2009 18:52

If the DNA evidence implicating Guede is reliable, why is the DNA evidence implicating Knox and Sollecito not reliable?

For me, the bloody shoeprint matching AK's size, found under Meredith puts her in that room. I concede that the prosecution should also have checked the other flatmates' shoe sizes - but they had firm alibis for that night, unlike Knox.

selectivememory · 13/12/2009 18:52

Let's face it only Amanda Knox knows if she is guilty. Her parents obviously want to believe her, and do believe she is innocent. What parent wouldn't??? The alternative is too horrible to imagine.

The worse case scenario is that she gets freed on appeal due to the 'evidence' and she did do it. She will have to live with that for the rest of her life.

If she is innocent, then she has been living an absolute nightmare.

The whole case is absolutely horrendous and ghastly and I agree with pofaced's post earlier that, on reading some of the more explicit posts, there is no point in further speculation.

Grrr - there was sexual assault! There was only one bloody footprint! It was Guede's footprint, on the bath mat! There was no evidence presented about a clean up. There might have been some cleaning, but no-one cleaned the whole crime scene of dna. And WHO moved the body?link

I will finish with this Times article

Like I said earlier, there is no point in rehashing old newspaper articles. We have to wait for the trial report.

Portofino · 13/12/2009 19:18

"For me, the bloody shoeprint matching AK's size, found under Meredith puts her in that room"

She is the only person in the world with size 38 feet then? Re. Guede - they found his fingerprints. No-one even knew he involved before that. He had a record. His DNA was found IN MK's body!

Scarlet, you obviously haven't read a bloody thing about the DNA evidence on the knife and the bra strap as to why it is considered feeble.

DuelingFanjo · 13/12/2009 19:19

"If the DNA evidence implicating Guede is reliable, why is the DNA evidence implicating Knox and Sollecito not reliable?"

because Guede#s DNA was all over the crime scene and the body of the victim and Knox and Sollecito's was not. The DNA to do with KNOX and Sollecito was not present as evidence in the immediate aftermath of the murder (Unlike Guede's) and was only discovered much later in the case of the Bra Clasp and unconvincingly in the case of the knife.

If the knife shows evidence of thorough cleaning why was there so much of Amanda's DNA on the handle compared to the completely skatchy DNA on the blade. Either it was thoroughly washed or it wasn't. The knife DNA is as bizzare as the DNA in the murder room. Not only do people/the prosecution believe that Knox and Sollecito managed to clean away all trace of themselves in the room while leaving a whole load of DNA from Guede, but they also believe they cleaned a knife thouroughly but left Amanda's DNA on the handle.

Strange.

"For me, the bloody shoeprint matching AK's size, found under Meredith puts her in that room"

it was a partial footprint which was never matched to Amanda's shoes and which had more in common with the footprint which the prosecution proved was Guede's than it did with any other suspects shoes.

Portofino · 13/12/2009 19:19

And Dittany, Rudy only mentioned Amanda and Rafaele after he knew they were in custody!

Yup. Guede knows for sure if they are innocent. It's just a shame that he has so far not told the truth.

DuelingFanjo · 13/12/2009 19:32

It certainly was found all over the victim's body and inside it and in the room, but Knox's and Sollecito's was not.

The defence have not disputed that Meredith's DNA was found on the tip of the alleged murder weapon - they have only claimed that it was contaminated. Even if it wasn't AK's DNA on the handle, why was a knife with Meredth's DNA on the tip found in Sollecito's kitchen? And why did Sollecito implicitly confirm it was Meredith's DNA?

The footprint found was excluded as being one of Guede's, because it was size 37 or 38 - not 42 (Guede's size).

An abundant amount of Raffaele Sollecito?s DNA was found on Meredith?s bra clasp, and Dr. Stefanoni excluded the possibility of any contamination.

Sollecito?s lawyer Ms Buongiorno is perhaps not surprisingly claiming that this bra clasp was also contaminated in the laboratory. The problem for them is to explain precisely where such an abundant amount of Sollecito?s DNA could have come from, and how it was so firmly imprinted. The only other instance of Sollecito?s DNA at the cottage was found on a cigarette butt in the kitchen, seemingly an unlikely source at best.

It would seem unlikely that the judges and jury will conclude that the bra clasp was contaminated in a strictly controlled laboratory where Dr. Stefanoni follows rigorous laboratory procedures. She is an internationally renowned and very experienced forensic expert and was part of a Disaster Investigations Team which identified disaster victims via their DNA.

The prosecution demonstrated on the final full day of testimony that Meredith?s bra was actually removed with a knife some time after she had been killed.

Who had a reason to come back, cut off Meredith?s bra, and move her body some time later? Judge Micheli concluded that it would only have been done by someone who knew about Meredith?s death and had an interest in arranging the scene in Meredith?s room to point away from themselves. He discounted Rudy Guede, who apparently went home, cleaned himself up, and then was seen out on the town.

There were five instances of Amanda Knox?s blood or DNA mixed with Meredith?s blood in three different locations in the cottage: in three places in the bathroom (on the ledge of the basin, on the bidet, and on a box of Q Tips cotton swabs), in the hallway, and in Filomena?s bedroom.

Dr. Stefanoni testified that it would have been ?strange? that three traces of blood with both Meredith?s and Amanda Knox?s DNA would have been left at different times.

There were no DNA or other physical traces of Rudy Guede in the "bloody" bathroom.

DuelingFanjo · 13/12/2009 19:43

As far as I am concerned the DNA being on her and in her is all over her body. Am not sure how much you want him to have been all over her to prove his definite involvement. Everyone knows that he was deeply involved in un-consentual sexual contact with the victim and was involved with the murder.

"An "abundant" amount of DNA from Sollecito was found on Meredith's bra clasp."

again information about the collection of the bra clasp.

"The footprint found was excluded as being one of Guede's, because it was size 37 or 38 - not 42" It was merely estimated to be a size 37 or 38 from the partial footprint which was left. It had more similarity to the other Shoe print found which was proven to be Guede's.

"There were five instances of Amanda Knox?s blood or DNA mixed with Meredith?s blood" IIRC it was not blood. The DNA was not unusual as Meredith and Knox shared a bathroom and a house.

DuelingFanjo · 13/12/2009 19:44

I of course mean it was not amanda's blood.

DuelingFanjo · 13/12/2009 20:05

Why would I want to mislead when the evidence speaks for itself. Guede was heavily involved

Simple fact are that his DNA was at the scene and on/in the victim. Knox and Sollecito's was not.

The total absence of their DNA alongside the total presence of Guede's proves his presence at the crime scene.

If you want to make his involvment somehow less because other DNA from the crime scene was not presented in evidence at the trial then go ahead. .

the only thing i don't understand is how Guede's DNA was left after the cleaning process and AK and RS removed, unless they had completely cleaned up the room removing all DNA how could have been 100% confident that their DNA wouldn't have been presence. i still think that AK and RS where not present in the room during the murder, however i think they were in the cottage, possibly stoned and therefore not thinking straight. Guede know this
