Here, he just looks so young

OP posts:

maybe we should feel sorry for the 13yr old boy rather than the girl. given the fact that all pics were taken in her house with her parents it seems pretty obvious who called the papers.
i wonder if they chose to have the 13yr old as the dad because 15 yr old girls gets pregnant by 15 yr old boy is not so easy to sell to the sun? 13yr old boys parents also seem to be financially better of than those of the other contenders for the title of daddy.

IAteMakkaPakka · 15/02/2009 10:39

Oh my goodness. How utterly, utterly grim.

Geepers · 15/02/2009 10:40

why did you have to namechange for that namechanger101? I was waiting for something juicy ;)

namechanger101 · 15/02/2009 10:42

why do people normally name change? i dont want my usual name connected to this story.

keepingitRia · 15/02/2009 10:44

Wouldn't the eldest of the other boys be open to prosecution for sleeping with her with him being older? That seems a bit of a risk to take unless you feel there is something in it?

I think I read somewhere that it had been decided not to take any action against the 13 year old, I know it is bad form and I am not slating her, but I would have expected the older of the two would be considered more accountable in the eyes of the law, especially if he had be the eldest and she younger.

It is a very sad story. And will be sadder still if Alfie isn't the father after all this, especially if the story isn't as clear cut as it seems and he has been made into some kind of scapegoat.

I am glad I am not a teenager anymore! There was enough pressure about having sex when I was, and there seems to be more now.

Lulumama · 15/02/2009 10:48

have none of these teens heard of condoms?

frightening

never mind unplaned pregnancy, have they not heard of chlamydia, gonorhea, AIDS???

even if the girl was on the pill, does not protect against any diseases.

never mind paternity tests, they all need a full sexual health screening

tumtumtetum · 15/02/2009 10:55

The law regarding consent is there to protect young people being talked into sexual activity by those older than them.

Where it's girlfriend/boyfriend relationships it's rarely prosecuted as it's not actually in anyone's interest.

it's prosecuted when there is a more significant age difference or when there is evidence that the older one has been "taking advantage" of a younger trusting individual.

Teenagers having sex with each other in girlfriend/boyfriend scenarios isn't the problem - it's older men preying on young girls IMO.

Kids this age have always had sex - their hormones are going and they are sort of following them.

In our society it is not approved of/legal and ideally wouldn't happen but invariably where you have sex hormones whizzing around things will happen sometimes.

These children need support. What is happening in the papers is disgraceful (not that I've read the links) - these are vulnerable children not contestants on Big Brother FFS. They are not fair game.

EldonAve · 15/02/2009 11:31

the times also mentions Alfie's sister possibly having had a child at 13

looks like both families were happy to sell the story to the tabloids

Sorrento · 15/02/2009 11:47

Even granny has been told to keep her mouth shut so not to dilute the money paid by the tabloids.
I wonder if it's going to be spent on Maisie's education or wide screen tv's for the whole family

MitchyInge · 15/02/2009 11:50

Is it naive of us to believe it, it is in the Sun after all!

Apparently the paediatricians are saying that it all sounds quite dodgy. The boy probably isn't the baby's father.

SamsMama · 15/02/2009 12:13

I wonder if he's the father too, actually. I find it odd that she would be sexually attracted to him-as so many people have said, he looks 8 or 9 at most! But I also agree with whoever said that if he looked like a thug it would be handled in an entirely different way. In some of the articles I saw, it said that they were allowed to sleep over at each other's houses. What kind of parent allows that at their age? Maybe I'm old fashioned, but there will certainly be no mixed-sex sleepovers for my son when he's Alfie's age, and at that age he will also know how his father and I feel: that you should wait until you're in love, and old enough to deal with the consequences no matter what they may be, before you enter into a sexual relationship. And if that doesn't stop him (and I'm certainly not naive enough to think it will for sure) than he will for God's sake know what a condom is! I don't mean to sound self-righteous or judgmental, but this whole thing has me shaking my head. Poor children! And in that, I'm including all THREE of them.

winnie09 · 15/02/2009 13:07

The development of this story is grim beyond belief

Whether it is showing video's of the 'couple' (with her kissing his shoulder) or an underlying acceptance that they are going to continue to have sex it is all to freak show and irresponisble for words. This is not about starting a debate about teenage pregnancies in the UK it is something else entirely and I personally find the whole thing very uncomfortable and disturbing.

donnie · 15/02/2009 15:19

well, I have just read on Yahoo! news that two other teenage boys are both claiming to be the baby's father. It seems the girl, Chantelle, has been sleeping with several boys with the full knowledge of her parents. Now that really does make me sad.

ladymariner · 15/02/2009 15:56

I just feel so sad and angry and sick to the stomach all at the same time. I keep looking at ds who is also 13, he's been on his xbox this morning and has now gone round to his mate's house on his bike, that's what 13 year olds should be doing - havig fun, not looking after babies

lunamoon2 · 15/02/2009 16:48

How strange that when you see stories like this the grandparents are never respectable, hard working, "older" IE waited until they could actually afford to look after their own child and provide a stable home life for them.
On the one hand you have a boy whose own father has fathered 9 kids to lord knows how many different women, therefore providing adequate financial or emotional stability. His sister had a baby at 13, again another great example. At 12 he is allowed to stay with his underage girlfriend and have sex. Sorry but his mother and father should have been stopping this behavior and if they didn't know what was happening, even after said daughter's pregnancy, then the girlfriend's parents almost certainly did.
According to a neighbour( who put his name to the statement) the girl had various other boyfriends before this who were allowed to sleep at her house.

lunamoon2 · 15/02/2009 16:51

Previous post should read-NOT providing stability.

solidgoldbullet4myvalentine · 15/02/2009 16:52

Poor little sods, the lot of them. WHile some teenagers who get pregnant try really hard to make decent lives for themselves and their kids, for some people it just seems like the cycle repeats endlessly.

namechanger101 · 15/02/2009 16:52

the times is wrong, the sister had a baby when she was 19 - older than many of the mums on here.

namechanger101 · 15/02/2009 16:54

lunamoon read my post re alfies sister. and alfies family are not on benefits, his mum was with his dad for about 16 years

LoveMyLapTop · 15/02/2009 17:01

Everything about this sordid little tale just dhows how much of a mess this country is in.
Rather than shame or embarrassment all invilved just want their 15 minutes of 'celibrity'

lunamoon2 · 15/02/2009 17:41

Hi namechanger I stand corrected about his sister-although 19 is still very young to have a baby in my opinion. But I still say that why the hell would you allow a 12 year old to sleep at his girlfriends house???????
So very wrong on all accounts. His parents are to blame in my opinion (and so too are hers)
If I found out that my child was allowed to sleep in same room as boyfriend/girlfriend at their age I would go ape shit, seriously My oh would end you killing the other parents and we would do everything possible to stop the relationship, full stop.

lunamoon2 · 15/02/2009 17:43

having serious trouble typing today,

Must be the fact I keep checking on dds to make sure they are still in the house (same room as me) and not roaming the streets looking for very young looking 12 year old to have sex with.

philmassive · 15/02/2009 18:08

I can't help but think that there's more to this than meets the eye. Not sure what, just that the whole story feels wrong somehow. I don't mean morally wrong... that's another story, I just mean fishy.

Bet more comes out of this at a later date.

noddyholder · 15/02/2009 18:19

The sister is 19 now but had the baby at 13 I think

solidgoldbullet4myvalentine · 15/02/2009 18:54

Yes there is something odd about it all. Poor bloody kids. They will probably all end up in care.
