If anyone is intersted.

It's at 12.30pm along Embankment, nearest tubes Embankment and Charing Cross.

It's being organised by Palestinian Solidarity Campaign, Stop the War Coaltion and numerous other groups.

I will bump this sporadically, but if anyone else would like to help promote this, plaese bump too.

I will be there.

Hamas uses Palestinians as human shields. Whereas Israel builds bunkers for their citzens to take shelter in from Hama's rockets, Hamas build bunkers to store arms, then home people on top of those bunkers.

It's a cynical and murderous strategy to get bleeding heart liberals (I say that becasue not all liberals are of that ilk - though they are a minority) on their side when the numbers of Palestinian civilian casualties ineviably rise upon an Israeli attack on Hama's arms stashes.

ruty · 05/01/2009 15:25

do you really have no sympathy for Palestinian civilians killed lisalisa? Sorry if i have misread and that is not the case but struggling to comprehend the seemingly total demonization of the Palestinians in your posts. BTW I know it is a complex subject with no easy way out.

WinkyWinkola · 05/01/2009 16:04

I absolutely have sympathy for the Palestinian ordinary Joe. Especially when Hamas abuses them as human shields.

Right now, Hamas are trying to draw the Israeli troops into the most populated zones of Gaza city. Not because Hamas give a stuff about their own people but because it would be politically very powerful for them if Israeli troops went in, unable to avoid more civilian casualites. Hamas would love that.

They are screwed over and over again. So don't vote for Hamas who seek to provoke Israel over and over and over and over and over and over.

If you are interested in finding out more information about some of the viewpoints of more moderate Palestinians and Israelis, then this page has some interesting links

i'm not sure if you can compare Hamas [recruiting children to be suicide bombers] with the ANC though rev. I mean i know the ANC could be violent but not quite on the same scale or am i wrong? My heart aches for the ordinary Palestinian though. If they haven't been radicalised in the last few years it would be a miracle if they weren't now. I know several Jewish people who are against Israel's current actions, at the risk of stating the obvious.

"when I refer to 'this murderous group of people' I am referring to the Palestinians as this" - by Lisalisa Mon 05 Jan 09 12.45.45

What a despicable, racist comment. I am going to report this to MN as racism.

"ranting raving lunatic mullahs" - more racism from the same poster.

Bubble99 · 05/01/2009 18:40

You seem to have led a very full life, rev?

It's good for us to hear the experiences of someone who seems to have witnessed so much.

What's going on here though? Each soide can pull a rabbit out of the hat to show, 'it's their fault'.

Israel isnt going anywhere. It means little how it came into being.

donnie · 05/01/2009 18:56

rev - I really like and respect your posts but I have to disagree- it is without doubt racism. 'Cultural stereotyping' is a bit of an apologist's euphemism IMO.

Bubble99 · 05/01/2009 18:57

I think the 'death to Jews' manifesto qualifies as the worst thing. Not Israelis. Jews.

No getting around that one, is there.

And I agree, MT, that each side can trade horror stories.

The school suicide bombings and the dancing in the streets afterwards does it for me. And, as someone has already pointed out, these are men, women and children dancing and throwing sweets.

Donnie, I would like to see you write that you condemn wholeheartedly Hamas' wish that all Jews should be obliterated.

Your accusations of racism on this thread are not accurate. You're also very quick to bandy threats about.

If ypu have someunderstanding of zero sum and non-zero sum Rev, then you will know that Hama's is pursuing a zero sum strategy, at any cost to Palestine. If the Israeli's were pursuing the same stratety, they could have done so already, having the means to do so. But they havn't. That says something, doesn't it?
