If anyone is intersted.

It's at 12.30pm along Embankment, nearest tubes Embankment and Charing Cross.

It's being organised by Palestinian Solidarity Campaign, Stop the War Coaltion and numerous other groups.

I will bump this sporadically, but if anyone else would like to help promote this, plaese bump too.

I will be there.

It is just human that emotions are running high when some many families, children are being displaced, hurt and live in fear of dying having done nothing.

I think that Naomi Klein's article is pretty rational stating plenty of facts leaving any emotional discourses aside. Please read it- it is a pretty straight forward account of facts that surround this disaster.

Seen the report on BBC at around 6 and most images where from the live link outside the Israeli Embassy- we didn't reach it because I assumed that this would happen.

I am nearly 7 months pregnant and joined the march with a bunch of great girls with our husbands and children. Cannot stop thinking about all the mothers in Gaza with children scared of dying and not enough food, doctors, aid... it truly breaks my heart.

It didn't surprise me either to see various Jews associations joining the march today. Not all jewish people support the Israeli foreign policy and support this atrocity. Also not all muslims in London have joined the march.

Certainly not all jwesish people support Israels foreign policy. There are many wonderful brave Israelis, and Jews elswhwere, speaking out against Israels actions, eloqunetly and with great insight, and actively working in some way to help them.

The Jewish poeple have produced such intellects with such high moral integrity for centuries (primo Levi is one of favourite authors, his book If This is a Man on his time in Aushwitz is truly truly remarkable and veryone should read it) which makes the fact that a Jewish state has become such a brutish, facist, racist force all the more tragic. For the Jews as well as those who suffer at Israels hands.

Sunshine I always hope if I was a helpless mother unable to feed andprotect my children that at the very least that more fortunate mothers, somewhere in the world would think of me and do whatever small thing they could. Marching is a small thing but at least we are not ignoring or forgetting them.

tiredsville · 10/01/2009 20:54

Yes, I've read the article. I recieved a leaflet on the march with a list of companies funding the massacre. Boycotting is an excellant idea providing information is accurate.

WinkyWinkola · 10/01/2009 21:01

"a list of companies funding the massacre"

Eh? What does this mean?

tiredsville · 10/01/2009 22:58

Divestment, means putting an end to investments in Israel and companies supporting Israeli occupation and aparthied.

WinkyWinkola · 10/01/2009 23:06

It's rather unfair to say those companies are directly funding the massacre.

Nantucket · 10/01/2009 23:20

Indierctly of course.

Similar to the boycotting of companies investing in, and produce of,South Africa during Apartheid.

tiredsville · 10/01/2009 23:22

No it's not I am afraid. If you read sunshines thread, an example is given from British Telecoms firm sending an email,"as a result of Israeli action we will no longer be in a position to consider doing business with yourself or any other Israeli company." He commented later "we can't afford to loose clients"
Quite simple and there is no violence used.

Monkeytrousers · 11/01/2009 10:14

Hmm Nantucket, a very reasoned argument.

A career in politics awaits..

Hi everyone. Still reading with interest.

And waiting to see what's going to happen after the 20th January.
Can the US really break free of it's ties with Israel and impose some sort of boycott?
It sounds really improbable considering the collusion with various lobbies/fundraisers in Washington.

Settlers in the occupied territories have the unlimited support and funding from US based organisations ( as they are in a great proportion US born jews with dual citizenship).

It seems to me that one can not accuse Palestinians of colliding with organisations (branded as terrorist rogue states) that fund and support their cause and let these US based groups give a blank check to Israelis to fight their war to secure their borders.

Once again I just wish both parties were given the same treatment and that the practice described above was acknowledged as equivalent.
