I just recieved an email containing all of the BNP members list, complete with phone numbers and address.

The story has been reported in the press online today:
here

Not sure what to do with it - teacher and a policewoman are on the list but kids are too.

all those incensed by the leak should remember it was a former bnp high-up who leaked it! with a bit of luck and a following wind this should be the final nail in the coffin of a party that's been infighting and forming splinter groups and factions for ages now. after all, who's going to join and entrust their personal details to them now? rhubarb has a good point - leave them to it and watch them fall to pieces

there's something about these last couple of weeks...the US electing a black president, nazi scum panicking and running for cover over here...feels like there's a change in the air

God that is so depressing.I've never really thought about the ordinary members before..you know not the activists. The silent people who pay their subs and go about their normal lives. So many normal names (not that they should be called Mrs Bigoted bitch or anything..but ykwim)

I'm not sure that there could be anyone who is unaware of what the BNP stands for.

But as I said again, they are pressing the self destruct button now anyway, so let's just leave them to it. Justice is watching an organisation like this burn itself down without much help from anyone else.

MarmadukeScarlet · 19/11/2008 14:19

Someone on this very thread asked what BNP was, so there are some people who are unaware.

Rhubarb · 19/11/2008 14:22

Only because she was getting this thread mixed up with the Baby P story because of the tag at the top.

MarmadukeScarlet · 19/11/2008 14:24

Oh, Ok hadn't read that. Thank you.

I haven't seen anyone on this thread seriously advocating harassment of BNP members.

Of course people have a right to their views and opinions - but joinng a political party is taking part in a pro-active campaign to get rid of rights for certain british Citizens. It is a clear conflict of interest to have people taking part in such activity whilst being employed to apparantly implement those rights.

I don't buy the 'they might not realise what they have joined' argument - they might, indeed, not - but that is their repsponsibility and stupidity.

I don't think it is right that the DPA has been breached to enable this, the law needs to be upheld for everyone, so doubtless the BNP will seek and admonish the BNP official who leaked this.

There's a Caribbean expression,"Can't hear, must feel"..and it would be nice to think that something good would come out of this, and that BNP members might get a sense of what it might feel like to be so exposed, have loads of people who don't know you hating you for something about you, and might change thier views as a result. But somehow, I don't think that they will learn anything, even from feeling.

edam · 19/11/2008 14:31

I disapprove generally of anyone posting someone else's contact details and private information on the web. But no-one on this site has done that - blame whoever it is who let this cat out of the bag.

And given the BNP's hateful beliefs and activities and attacks on Human Rights legislation it is pretty funny.

edam · 19/11/2008 14:34

Good point, Blu! They certainly appear to be rather uncomfortable at being on the receiving end of unwanted attention.

hellsbells76 · 19/11/2008 14:45

they've complained about the publication of these details as breaches of human rights and data protection legislation. both pieces of legislation that they've pledged to get rid of. oh my aching sides...

twinsetandpearls · 19/11/2008 14:53

Someone is listed as a former miner and I read it as former mumsnetter.

susie100 · 19/11/2008 15:08

I would have a problem with someone with racist views treating or teaching my chidren in the same way that I would have with anyone ignorant having a position of authority. But more broadly I have a problem with bigotted views and public office in general. I have a problem with a racist social worker making decisions about any child in this country's future. Of course I have no way of knowing this ordinarily but if there is this kind of leak then at least people have that opportunity.

BNP has terribly negative connotations and everyone knows exactly what it stands for. I think you have to be quite committed to sihn upto it.

LittleBella · 19/11/2008 15:21

But surely all professions have a code of conduct which would ensure that any bad behaviour by an individual which is caused by the views that led to them joining a party like the BNP in the first place, would already be against the rules anyway? That's why I feel uncomfortable about actually banning people from joining political parties - it doesn't stop them believing what they do and it doesn't stop them being bad teachers/ policemen / doctors etc., it just means they're less likely to be caught contravening their professional code because their views are a secret.

I think if a system were in place where various professionals had to declare any membership of political/ religious groups and would then be left to get on with it within their professional code, people would know who belonged to the BNP/ Communist Party/ Greenpeace/ Flat Earth Society and make a decision about whether they were going to be a client/ patient/ pupil etc. or not. I don't feel comfortable with telling people they don't have the right to work becuase they have the wrong views, but I also don't feel comfortable with the idea that my DC's (or anyone else's) would be taught by raging racist loons.

LittleBella · 19/11/2008 15:22

And yes if a Social Worker who belonged to the BNP were allocated to a black family, you would have to have some kind of method of ascertaining how his/ her views were influencing their professional decisions (or not).

mamadiva · 19/11/2008 15:44

This is bloody rediculous I cannot believe this is still going.

You are all wringing your hands with glee were you doing that when all the discs with all of our details of child benefit on it?

Somehow I can't see it so stop being so bloody hypocritical the lot of you.

And what does it have to do with you anyway? I have a friend who was BNP but only as to some of their policies and he had various bi-racial friends too so not all of them are 'knuckle dragging thugs' and may I just say I am in no way racist but yes some of my views come over that way, I won't go into them because I dont think any of you have the right to know my business though.

So yet again of to report... I don't know actually you lot are publisvising them a hell of a lot maybe this may encourage people to vote for them....

Flightattendant4 · 19/11/2008 15:45

I saw one person lives right by the school. There are only a few in our town apparently. I couldn't resist walking past their house and looking at it, and it was pretty obvious they are stark raving bonkers - had really manky old nets in the windows, door unpainted for centuries - and it had a massive old iron knocker, with a face in a sort of cowl on it. The door was white (well, very dirty white) the knocker was black but someone has deliberately singled out the face in the middle in white

In the window was an official letter from the county council saying something about Tradesmen not being needed, and the building being 'under surveillance' so they mustn't do anything to it etc.

Very very strange. Someone's dog had pooed all the way down the pavement but not outside this house.

TBH I think a lot of people who subscribe to the BNP are just that - mad as march hares. To be pitied more than anything - not to say it's Ok or anything but they are sad, sad, paranoid people.

edam · 19/11/2008 15:47

Bet your friend used the well-worn 'some of my best friends are Black' line.

The CB discs were another matter entirely - none of us had any choice at all about being on that database.

Flightattendant4 · 19/11/2008 15:47

Mamadiva you are coming across as very ruffled by all this...it's hardly the same as the benefits details, now, is it?

The BNP advocates violence. Most people on Child Benefit don't. Clear difference there don't you reckon?

LittleBella · 19/11/2008 16:02

mamadiva, we didn't leak the database you know.

Why are you so angry with us all for discussing the issue? In case you haven't read, the thread has moved on a bit and we're discussing freedom of speech, blah di blah - why are you so angry with us for doing that?

susie100 · 19/11/2008 16:06

Mamadiva most things we post about on here 'have nothing to do with us'

Does not mean we can't have an opinion and my opinion is that everything the BNP stands for DISGUSTS me.
