I just recieved an email containing all of the BNP members list, complete with phone numbers and address.

The story has been reported in the press online today:
here

Not sure what to do with it - teacher and a policewoman are on the list but kids are too.

I wonder will revealing these 12,000 individuals actually increase support for the BNP in the long run? Now they have been outed and some will be in a sense martyred by the loss of their career, and by any attacks, friends and family with similar leanings may be more inclined to discuss the BNP policies with them.

I have no time for the BNP, and would think less of anyone involved with them (necessary disclaimer). However, they are a legal political party and they do gain credibility in some quarters because of policy measures that do effectively discriminate against the white working class.

Upwind · 19/11/2008 16:14

Flight - I think that is a good point. When I scanned the list I noticed that a great many people on it were retired and presumably elderly. Others will be trapped in daft romantic notions of druidism and ye olde England.

It is very likely that some of these vulnerable people have just become targets.

mamadiva · 19/11/2008 16:16

No he didnt use that line BTW Id have cracked him one if he had given that his friends are my relatives who I do not appreciiate being referred to as black when they are not!

Ach I dunnoe things like this just piss me off.

chocolatedot · 19/11/2008 16:26

Feel very uncomfortable that some seem to be saying that having certain views in your private life should automatically preclude you from partiuclar professions. I know a number of muslims who, despite abhorring homosexuality, are perfectly capable of treating homosexuals they come across through their work with respect. All smacks a bit of the Thought Police to me.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 19/11/2008 16:36

I don't know much about the bnp but worked on a project on StormFront for a while and it was horrific. The worst is 11/12 year olds who are clearly just churningout what the parents have told them.

The BNP members are in a far better position than those whose names were splattered around by redwatch etc as most anti facists do not incite violence or hatred.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 19/11/2008 16:37

Not all muslims abhor homosexuality ffs.

mamadiva · 19/11/2008 16:45

Not all BNP supporters are 'knuckle dragging thugs'

or racist well extreme anyway yes there are some views which come over racist even though they are not but heyho thats PC for you.

Upwind · 19/11/2008 16:49

agree with chocolatedot re. the thought police

Flightattendant4 · 19/11/2008 16:57

By Mamadiva:

'.. his friends are my relatives who I do not appreciiate being referred to as black when they are not!'

Sorry Mamadiva I am getting more and more worried by the tone of your posts. What or whom exactly are you trying to defend here?

lulumama · 19/11/2008 16:59

am baffled by the notion that racist views are not actually racist, but only perceived as racist by liberal, PC types

racism is racism

mamadiva · 19/11/2008 17:01

Someone asked if he was using that line... back a page.

And I was answering maybe try copying whole posts or atleast reading them.

I couldnt care less about the BNP as I said they are nowt to do with me, everyone has a right to their thoughts.

sunnygirl1412 · 19/11/2008 17:01

I think that it speaks volumes when someone feels their choice of political allegiance has to stay secret. If there was nothing wrong with the BNP, it wouldn't need to be secret.

One other thing - I googled BNP members list blairwatch, as someone earlier on suggested, and found a site called blairwatch, but when I clicked on it, I got a virus (at least, I'm pretty sure that's when I got it - I didn't click anywhere else dodgy).

It was a virus that was purporting to be a virus scanner and fixer - VirusPro Protection, or something like that, but it was a real pig to get rid of, and worse, it stopped me reading mumsnet - for some reason it kept telling me mumsnet was a dangerous place to go without full online protection!

So do be careful, folks - searching for this list, that is - not surfing mumsnet.

Flightattendant4 · 19/11/2008 17:02

'...yes there are some views which come over racist even though they are not'

Mamadiva, could you give us an example of this please? I'd be really interested to understand what you mean.

Okay that was wrong but there are things that get said that are not racist but are percieved as such.

Not everyone who says something which is taken out of turn is racist, apparently Im racist for having one of those golliwogs (excuse the term cant remember what they should be called) even though I've had it since I was born and it was bought for me by my 'bi-racial' cousin.

Hi Sunnygirl.

Yes I think a few people had that happen too.

I guess it might be aimed either at BNP members trying to access a dodgy site or at those who are against them.

I agree everyone should be careful about accessing that kind of info, I mistook someone's post about that particular site as being a ref to a safe link, however I read it twice and realised it was a warning.

mamadiva · 19/11/2008 17:06

I dont know anything about the BNP I dont partake in politics (voting etc) but I email MP's about certain issues iof I have too.

I am defending the fact that all BNP supporters are not 'knuckle draggers' or whatever you like to say.

I couldnt care less who anyone supports a certain party its nothing to do with me.

foxytocin · 19/11/2008 17:07

I can't read the whole thread. Has anyone mentioned that while the BNP and their race policy is widely known, that they also have a policy about those with disabilities and special needs?

lulumama · 19/11/2008 17:08

why don;t you vote if you see fit to contact your MP!? contacting an MP is partaking in politics

what views are percieved as racist, but aren;t really racist?

Flightattendant4 · 19/11/2008 17:08

Mamadiva, I'm a bit narked that you have had a go at me for not reading your posts. Of course I read them. They are very interesting tbh.

I understand that you were answering a question about whether this person had used the line 'my friends are black' but you stated that you do not appreciate your relatives being referred to as black and that stood out to me as a derogatory view regarding black people.

That is what I was worried about. Although it's possible you were merely offended that people might class all 'bi racial' people as 'black' in a defensive kind of way.

I was hoping you might explain which it was.

lulumama · 19/11/2008 17:09

you don;t know anything about teh BNP but are happy to defend their members?

time to take a step back i think

Flightattendant4 · 19/11/2008 17:12

Foxy - would you be able to elaborate? I'd be interested to hear what that's all about, thanks

TheDevilWearsPrimark, who on earth suggested that ALL muslims abhor homosexuality?

I agree that in practice certain political views are incompatible with certain professions but certainly wouldn't want to see blanket bans imposed as far as membership of a legal political party is concerned.
