I just recieved an email containing all of the BNP members list, complete with phone numbers and address.

The story has been reported in the press online today:
here

Not sure what to do with it - teacher and a policewoman are on the list but kids are too.

actually - I'm just thinking, given the high number of ethnic minorities in that area of town, what do you think (honestly) are the chances of that particular address being "targetted"???

noonki · 21/11/2008 18:45

guyfawkes - I would consider asking the police for their advice (maybe check the name of the officer on the list first though )

guyfawkes. if i were him i'd move. i wouldn't want to be paying the activist iyswim, especially not so directly.

fwiw the bnp are in favour of repatriation of all non whites. so your exh would be booted out..er voluntarily.

f*ck - he can't move again - he can't afford it - he paid the deposit last Sunday - moves in next weekend. Someone has already been found to rent his room where he's currently staying. I have to say I was quite surprised that he was deemed "the right sort of person" to rent the house given that he's black!

I feel sick, I should have known him moving back to this town and to a place on his own (and therefore being able to see the boys more often/more flexibly) must have been to good to be true.

I still feel sick to my stomach when I remember the racist "attack" towards him about 7yrs ago just after we moved to this town - a Swastika was spray painted onto the front of his car

StealthPolarBear · 21/11/2008 20:41

Oh no

StealthPolarBear · 21/11/2008 20:41

Actually...

StealthPolarBear · 21/11/2008 20:42

If you're worried about not getting deposit etc, it may be worth a trip to the CAB for him.

guyFAwkesreQuiem · 21/11/2008 20:45

He's going to have to move there - it's all arranged - there's no way he's going to find somewhere (and the deposit - he borrowed part of that off me to make sure he'd secured the place!!!) in a week (as that's when he was due to move).

exH was really shocked when I told him - he'd spoken directly to the landlord, met him twice and had no inkling of his political views. I always knew that exH had the gift of the gab - but not enough to convince someone with that sort of views to rent him his house as a cut price!

noonki · 21/11/2008 20:52

he still may be able to get his deposit back, I would ring CAB or a solicitors and find out... far better than him never feeling comfortable about his landlord. He may be able to get the deposit back on different grounds.

It's a renters market at the mo. apparently.

but noonki - he's got nowhere to go if he doesn't move there next Saturday! He's currently in a house share and his room has already been viewed, deposit paid and someone sat waiting to move in. Even if his current landlord gave the deposit back to his new (to be) tenant exH still has to move as there's been major issues about having the DS's over apparently they're now "too noisy" (despite the fact that 1 of the other tenants also has their children to stay).

tbh I'm not so worried about who the landlord is (as they appear to have got on well enough for exH to blag the whole house to himself rather than just one of the rooms) rather that the address has been out there in the public domain as being the address of a BNP activist. The way I see it is all that it takes is for someone to have got hold of the address, not realise the owner has moved out and do something..........iykwim.

He's worked with (and for) people with views not disimilar to that of the BNP so I don't think that particular side of it will bother him too much. Although he is going to have to mention to his boss that his new landlord is a BNP activist as they've been told to keep a "low media profile" due to cock ups by their company sending people's details out to the wrong people.....and obviously renting a house from a (now known) BNP activist would be nice fodder.

StealthPolarBear · 21/11/2008 21:34

it all sounds really stressful for him, I think he should be looking for somewhere else asap
As you say, the address is out there and the sort of person who;s going to act on it isn;t the sort of person who's going to think things through logically

it's a nightmare SPB - this will be the 4th (or 5th I've lost count now) time he's moved since he move out of here in the middle of march this year.

TwoIfBySea · 23/11/2008 14:26

The place to beat organisations such as the BNP is through the ballot box. By exposing these people it is perhaps venturing into the intimidation ground that they would use themselves and that is surely not right.

Better to be on higher ground than get in the mud with pigs.

flubdub · 24/11/2008 14:36

I want to feel "Haha, theyve been outed!" too, but if they were willing to spend £40 for the family subscription, and submit their names and addresses, Im guessing they wouldnt be ashamed of it. In fact, theres two people on there from my village. One lives behin my old house, and the other, I can see from my bedroom window!

guyFAwkesreQuiem · 24/11/2008 14:44

exH is braver than I am - he spoke directly to his new landlord about the fact that his name was on the list .

My panic is over, he was a member, but left after that members list was compiled, freely admitted he'd joined - and yes an an activist, apparently joined when Poland joined the EU and we had an influx of Polish people to our town. Realised his opposition to it was futile so didn't renew his membership (well you have to admire his honesty). Still slightly apprehensive about someone else having noted that address as a BNP activists home - but I haven't seen anything in the news about people having trouble because of it so not overly worried.
