I just recieved an email containing all of the BNP members list, complete with phone numbers and address.

The story has been reported in the press online today:
here

Not sure what to do with it - teacher and a policewoman are on the list but kids are too.

litchick very true

they did not try to hide their identities when i worked with refugees in 70's and they came to shout 'go home'

bare faced then

no one saw their faces cos they closed the curtains and the kids hid under the beds

yes i DO continue to wring my hands in glee

'lady mayoress' - lovely

mamadiva · 19/11/2008 12:02

Oh damn I've been discovered then!

hellsbells76 · 19/11/2008 12:08

ugh, there's an activist on my street, i pass his house every day taking ds to school. oh the temptation to pop some dogshit in his letterbox (i wouldn't, i'm better than them, but it's so bloody tempting to let them know what intimidation and harrassment feels like)

mamadiva · 19/11/2008 12:25

I don't agree with their policies but I do think it's shocking that someone has created a thread to essentially shit stir.

We'll just see what happens when uit happens to you lot?

People on the internet reading your personal details I think you'll find it's probably illegal to publish them on here.

It's people's personal choice who they back none of your business and also just because someone votes for a party with racist views doesnt mean they are totally racist, some people may agree with one or two of their policies. Whats the big deal.

Get over it and get over yourself.

Off to hide this now so CIAO

DH and I were talking about this this morning. If people who sort of agree with the BNP see that not all supporters are knuckle-dragging shinheads in Doc Martens, it will be make it seem more accessible. Hope not.

hellsbells76 · 19/11/2008 12:43

mamadiva - these aren't just bnp voters, they're fully paid up members of a party that is a thinly veiled front for some really vile, racist thugs. frankly i think we have the right to know if any of these scumbags are teaching our children (there is a frighteningly high number of teachers on that list).

twinsetandpearls · 19/11/2008 12:44

Have to say that the names I recognise were all knuckle dragging thugs.

I have been threatened by members of the BNP who again were knucke dragging thugs.

mayorquimby · 19/11/2008 12:53

"frankly i think we have the right to know if any of these scumbags are teaching our children "

so do we have a right to know all teachers political preference? or just the ones we disagree with?
do bnp members have the right to know the ethnic origin/religion/sexuality/political preference of teachers looking after their kids?
unfortunately you can't have one rule for one set of people who are involved in legal activity and another rule for everyone else involved in a different legal activity. so if you think you have the right then surely the bnp have just as much rights. would you agree with all other political organisations having their personal details published?

Megglevache · 19/11/2008 12:56

I don't wish anyone on that list harm. It is my understanding that teachers/prison officers/policeman are not allowed to be connected to the party.

I agree with much that has been said here. I looked to see if people local to me and teachers/doctors were on the list as many of them are activists.

I wouldn't want anyone with an affiliation to this party teaching my children anything.

Have seen this elsewhere are I could not resist posting

"Having a scan through that BNP membership list, I happened upon one poor soul who has a note on his membership details thus:

member describes himself as a witch: potential embarrassment if active

Potential embarrassment for whom, one wonders?"

twinsetandpearls · 19/11/2008 12:56

I would have no problem with my political affiliations made public as a teacher.

I try very hard to be balanced in the classroom but am not sure if I could trust a member of the BNP to treat all pupils fairly.

twinsetandpearls · 19/11/2008 12:57

active witch or racist?

Would imagine being an active witch is less embarressing.

MarmadukeScarlet · 19/11/2008 12:57

For those that picked up a virus from the link, I had to use this super spyware to remove it, as my normal spyware was not up to the job.

A big thank you to macdog for helping me.

twinsetandpearls · 19/11/2008 12:59

Someone is listed as a "church crawler??" and a quaker. How can you be a quaker and a member of thr BNP.

twinsetandpearls · 19/11/2008 13:02

pmsl at

"Business owner (antiquities). Pubic speaker. Has two suits of medieval 14th & 15th century armour and can joust for rallies"

ByTheSea · 19/11/2008 13:03

I am proud to be against fascism, racism and discrimination against others because of their sexual orientation or level of ability or religion or age, and I am happy for anyone to know it!

hellsbells76 · 19/11/2008 13:05

mayorquimby, it's really not a question of 'disagreeing with a political preference' - membership of other political organisations does not go hand in hand with unacceptable racist views. i agree with twinsetandpearls - how can someone who has paid for membership to a party that believes some people have no right to live in this country, be trusted to treat ethnic minority pupils fairly? we had a racist teacher when i was at school and he made the life of a mixed race child in my class absolute hell. i don't want ds's friends to go through the same thing and i believe that teachers should be prohibited from joining the bnp, in the same way as police offers are.

mayorquimby · 19/11/2008 13:09

"I would have no problem with my political affiliations made public as a teacher"

yes but would you be happy for it to be published on a national level along with your address and phone number?
i knew about active bnp members not being allowed to be on the police force (which i personally find a bit off.once again nothing to do with my supporting the bnp, but more the fact that there is nothing illegal about being a member.and also i think this marginalising of them will onlt reinforce their views and garner them more suport from people who agree with some of their policies but miss the bigger picture.)
didn't know the same applied to teachers though.
on a side note, a lot of people seem to be saying they'd checked to see if local doctors were members.why would that bother anyone?surely even if they were a massive racist they would still be competent doctors.

ForeverOptimistic · 19/11/2008 13:09

The list is still on the internet, I just googled!

I hate everything that the BNP stands for and I have had a few heated discussions with their campaigners before. Having said that this whole situation makes me feel very very uncomfortable, it sickens me that a huge breach of security like this is still not rectified more than 24 hours later.

ByTheSea · 19/11/2008 13:14

mayorquimby, as the mother of two mixed race sons, it would bother me greatly if our doctor is a racist.

hellsbells76 · 19/11/2008 13:14

i absolutely don't see how you can be a police officer and an active bnp member. especially post-lawrence. how can the two possibly be compatible?

re the list: there's no way of rectifying it - it's everywhere. on torrent sites, on emails, on wikileaks, they can try and shut down individual sites hosting it but that horse has very much bolted and locking the stable door isn't going to help now.

perhaps they need to ask themselves just why there's such massive interest in their membership list?

onager · 19/11/2008 13:16

Hellsbells, even though I feel a bit the same way you can't work it like that. You end up saying "any views you want as long as they are decent" and everyone has a different definition of decent.

I know a teacher who belongs to a group that speaks of the day all all non members will be burned as a punishment. Many of this group wear an effigy of a tortured man to identify their membership. So can I insist that all catholics have their names published?

Flightattendant4 · 19/11/2008 13:17

I can't find it, has anyone a safe link please?

twinsetandpearls · 19/11/2008 13:17

mayor I can honestly say it would not bother me.
