I just recieved an email containing all of the BNP members list, complete with phone numbers and address.

The story has been reported in the press online today:
here

Not sure what to do with it - teacher and a policewoman are on the list but kids are too.

OP posts:

yes just delete it. the sun will probably send it out at the weekend as a supplement anyway.

twinsetandpearls · 19/11/2008 08:26

I would imagine the sun and the mail will release it under the title readers we have loved.

ScottishMummy · 19/11/2008 08:45

if they are paid up members,by implication and association they agree with ascribed ethos and aims.so why hide one's henious convictions

kind of ironic they bleat on about nanny state and pandering to pc and positive discrimination, yet want their details protected for fear of reprisal

apparently it is illegal to be a BNP member if you are police/teacher.didnt know that

MarmadukeScarlet · 19/11/2008 09:15

Same mumhadenough my AVG had suffered a CTC failure (whatever that was) and not updated also, for some bizarre reason, my Windows firewall was turned off - I def did not do that as it is set to be on.

So for my nosyness, I have virus, trojans and other things rampaging around my PC - that'll teach me!

(Have now reloaded/repaired AVG and run it - it found 3 registry changes turning my firewall off? Also run a spybot which has just removed a trojan.)

Agree with Custardo. The BNP is a legal political party and everyone has a right to privacy. Also think that stories like this just end up giving them publicity and making the organisation seem bigger than it actually is.

LittleBella · 19/11/2008 09:30

No-one on here is advocating that shit be put through their letter box, or that petrol be poured through and then lit cloths, as the BNP have done to other people. Or indeed, that they have the shit kicked out of them in prison. We're just laughing at their staffies and bomber jackets.

I don't agree that they should lose their jobs. If the party is legal, then people should be allowed to be members, otherwise it's just a very nasty totalitarian-leaning state. The problem of course, is if your personal and political views get in the way of you doing your job. The prob with the BNP members as opposed to members of the Labour Party, Tory Party or Women's Institute, is that their views are such that they are more likely to affect the quality of their work than those of members of other orgs and they should be forced to prove that they are not allowing their political leanings to treat clients/ pupils/ prisoners etc. unfairly. Perhaps certain professions should have to declare membership of pressure groups/ political parties.

womblingalong · 19/11/2008 09:47

Whatever we may or may not think of the BNP, publishing personal details of memebers is just wrong, whatever their beliefs.

edam · 19/11/2008 10:03

I do get the 'civil liberties apply to everyone, even creepy shitheads who want to chuck Black people out of the country and are at the very least linked to violent attacks' argument.

But can't resist a chuckle anyway. THEIR movement is responsible for publishing the names addresses and contact details of people who disagree with them, tough shit if it rebounds.

I don't mind telling anyone what my political persuasions are, why should they panic, unless they agree there is something disreputable about their behaviour?

And the BNP moaning about an abuse of human rights is just so funny you couldn't make it up.

The only point I find even slightly justifiable IF it is true is Nick Griffin saying prison officers and so on wouldn't be sacked for being members of extremist Islamic groups.

LittleBella · 19/11/2008 10:05

LOL if you were wanting to commit suicide bombings, that might get in the way of you doing your job effectively.

pokeydot · 19/11/2008 10:06

people have choices people!!!

lionheart · 19/11/2008 10:30

Can't find it anywhere now.

susie100 · 19/11/2008 10:33

www.bnpmemberslist.co.uk/

mysterymoniker · 19/11/2008 10:35

what does 'proof of entitlement' mean under some names?

rolandbrowning · 19/11/2008 10:37

Isn't there a website called something like 'redwatch' that had been linked to the bnp, where anti fascists are named and their addresses published? A local councillor in my area received death threats because of this.

susie100 · 19/11/2008 10:37

No idea, sorry. I wanted to check that no teachers or doctors I know are on the list. I think we do have a right to know if people in public service hold these views. I would pull my chidren out of any school where the teachers held these views.

susie100 · 19/11/2008 10:38

Yes I have heard of this, I think it is based in the states and anyone who speak out against the BNP is on it. Losers.

mysterymoniker · 19/11/2008 10:41

I actually feel pretty sick, I did ctrl+F for my county and then my little town and can't believe how many people are on it.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 19/11/2008 10:43

there are quite a few from my neighbourhood. i'm not that surprised really. just really saddened

ledodgy · 19/11/2008 10:48

I am quite suprised that there is only one from Liverpool (where I live) on there but then again I think there are alot of small minded bigots that wouldn't put their money were their mouth is so to speak.

Litchick · 19/11/2008 10:59

Not quite sure why all the racists are so panic stricken about being outed - they always seem bloody happy to mouth off in the pub/taxi/while painting my ceiling.
I do think that membership of the BNP should preclude certain people from holding public postions - judges, magistrates, police officers, teachers for starters.

merryberry · 19/11/2008 11:12

phew. people we recently bought our house from have had bnp flyers come through to their name. very glad not to find our address on the list. did a search on our outer postode and another on their surname to check. ma still smiling wrly at the ex-member who lived locally and did not renew subs because they had 'moved oversears'. Huh? shurely overseas is full of the wrong kind of people for a bnp member to get on with!

Upwind · 19/11/2008 11:16

lots of them seem to be immigrants residing in SPAIN

stretchmarkqueen · 19/11/2008 11:25

I (luckily) have only found one person I know, an old school friends dad. Don't really see him, but it still feels wierd.

stretchmarkqueen · 19/11/2008 11:26

weird of course

mayorquimby · 19/11/2008 11:28

if this is true i think it's absolutely disgusting. while i in no way agree with the bnp or their politics, that does not change the fact that leaking such personal information about ctizens partaking in legal political action is wrong.
