Is this true? because the Daily Mail reported it so obviously I need something more reliable than that

Last year Guardian reported 'there were no plans' for a state funeral.

Anyone heard this from anywhere other than the DM?

got really excited at the thread title, only to be disappointed that she's not actually dead.

expatinscotland · 13/07/2008 22:08

yeah, i thought she'd copped it, too, Piffle.

edam · 13/07/2008 22:09

Me too. Feel so let down.

I shall care about the "taste" of discussing Maggie's death when she cares about the plight of millions of people she consigned to the scrap heap and the devastation she wreaked on large parts of this country and the pain and misery she caused and continued to cause.
and that would be NEVER.

Oh so she isn't actually dead then She just looks like it.

WilfSell · 13/07/2008 22:13

perhaps some journo knows that she has actually died but it hasn't been released to the public yet?

LongLiveGreenElizabeth · 13/07/2008 22:14

Waste of money, BUT I thought that at the Queen mother's funeral too, and I was [shock} that the QM had PLANNED her own funeral. She wanted all that pomp and ceremony and glory. Kinda busted her attempt to be seen as such a good person imo.

(OH yeah, despite my screen name, I'm not one to collect mugs with prince charles mugg on them).

By The wonderful Sue Townsend

Do you weep, Mrs Thatcher, do you weep?
Do you wake Mrs Thatcher, in your sleep?
Do you weep like a sad willow?
On your Marks and Spencer's pillow?
Are you tears molten steel?
Do you weep?
Do you wake with 'Three million' on your brain?
Are you sorry that they'll never work again?
When you're dressing in your blue, do you see the waiting queue?
Do you weep, Mrs Thatcher, do you weep?

I have a personal reason for wanting to be as disrespectful as possible when she does die. Not just hating her politics. We were once at the same memorial service (somewhat bizarrely) and she was quite unforgivably rude to the daughter of the woman who had died.

Her tutor at Oxford and family were close friends of my family, in fact my aunt and this woman's son were married for a few years when they were very young and had 3 kids together. L read during the memorial from some of her mother's writings which included some anti-war stuff. Obviously Mrs T can't have felt comfortable but surely she was aware of her tutor's views (no secret) on such matters before. L was shaking hands and thanking people for coming after the service and Mrs T just refused to shake hands or speak to her or anything!

fishie · 13/07/2008 22:21

swc "poor old maggie" would probably stomp on your HEID for that.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 13/07/2008 22:21

expatinscotland · 13/07/2008 22:21
