Is this true? because the Daily Mail reported it so obviously I need something more reliable than that

Last year Guardian reported 'there were no plans' for a state funeral.

Anyone heard this from anywhere other than the DM?

I was telling DH about this thread and he started cheering before I could tell him she wasn't dead. He is in a bad mood now, says I am cruel for teasing him.

WendyWeber · 13/07/2008 23:31

Why should she, VVVQ????

VeniVidiVickiQV · 13/07/2008 23:32

That's not an answer WW

WendyWeber · 13/07/2008 23:34

There is a loooong list of 20th C PMs who didn't get one (and none of them sold off the nationalised industries )

BreeVanderCampLGJ · 13/07/2008 23:36

No, she didn't do that - she was long gone.

wrinklytum · 13/07/2008 23:40

I'm slightly biased re Thatcher as I spent my teenage years growing up in a Derbyshire mining town and saw the real havoc wreaked by her policies. In our area it was like a real war zone, and there was genuine hardship for families who were part of the strike.I feel she did tremendous damage to these communities.Having said that a very tiny part of me does admire the fact that she was such a strong woman.Though I can never forgive what she did to a lot of families I knew.

Threadwworm · 14/07/2008 07:07

So no-one liked my preview of the state funeral then?

Blandmum · 14/07/2008 07:14

Wendyweber, I really did shout that.

The bloke was so shocked as I looke like a middle age, middle class woman and he must have expected a more sympahthetic hearing!

And I was shocked because I just blurted it out, it was semi relex!
