I meant my daughter also fills her nappy whilst eating

lulumama · 12/07/2008 18:19

that is why i put a grin and a smile after my question, foxymolly!

noddyholder · 12/07/2008 18:19

Most people look/stare at anyone or thing that is different or unusual I know I do.This goes beyond that though

My DDs are NT, they are the messy eaters ever. They don't mean to be they just are. Nobody has ever complained about them, the same should apply to everybody. Complaining about people with an illness or LD is a cowardly way to try and make yourself feel superior. The owner is wrong and the people who dare complain should be ashamed of themselves and their low tolerance of anybody showing a difference to their concept of the norm.

In fact they are all a bunch of fuckers.

foxymolly · 12/07/2008 18:23

Sorry Lulu, I'm just getting a bit peeved with people thinking I've got a problem with SN.
I haven't and in all my posts I was only referring to the spitting, which I realize was ignorant and have apologised for.

cocolepew · 12/07/2008 18:23

People shouldn't stare though, a quick glance is enough to notice if someone is 'different', why would you stand and stare then?

cocolepew thanks you took the words out of my post
I have never got this idea that it is ok to stare at someone unusual!! ffs dd is not different or unusal yet people think it is k for them and their dc's to stare at her as if she is there for their entertainment,

I realise now she was not spitting. At the time I only read the article which said 'spitting'

I've run this by DH, his reply was "why would you be sittig watching someone else eat?" Exactly.

In our town we have a cafe run entirely by people with LD/SN, in Belfast there is a restuarant run by Barnardo's staffed entirely by people with SN/LD. They are both very popular and have won awards.

foxymolly · 12/07/2008 18:28

You are right Riven

noddyholder · 12/07/2008 18:30

Well I have I walked around with 2 huge tubes sticking out of my neck and a severe balance problem for 2 yrs and people asked if I was drunk and whats wrong with you all the time. They always stared on buses etc not because they were bad people but because it was new and they were ignorant. If they jusat asked me i told them what it was and hopefully the next person they see with them they wouldn't feel the need.Who knows?I don't mean stare indefintiely fgs but it is human nature I agree that the woman should be allowed to go wherever she likes to eat and it was wrong of the owner to do this.

PeachyBAHons · 12/07/2008 18:31

There are not two sides to this- or only two sides in that you don't know whether to get more angry with the manager or the customers! Customers probably, i think.

Fortunately this is rare- just got back from Harvester where ds1 (post haircut so upset) was crying / bunny hopping.

Fortunately it'd take a brave man to ask DH to leave LOL, and my breastfeeding ds4 tends to draw attention.

Sadly I remember being in a weatherspoons (sp) and a family left because a girl ahd DS and was quite vocals.

NowI dont often swear and Ia ctively try to find two dides toe very argument but in this case

Fuckers.

predominantly the customers. I understand the manager is worried about paying the bills I guess, although I like to think I'd make a stand personally.

But I reiterate

Fuckers.

Peachy I hope you didn't get any of your nasty bm on the sterile Harvester floor?
uuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrgh

zippitippitoes · 12/07/2008 18:38

i find it very odd that people only want to be with people who exactly replicate themselves in every respect that is really why these customers dont want to know..

they really are missing out tho being so narrow in outlook

i mix with all the people i can and i hope and believe my kids do too

it benefits everyone

WasStealthPolarBear · 12/07/2008 18:39

urgh no I am currently scraping a hummus tub out with my finger - wouldn't want to sit with people like me in RL

BetteNoire · 12/07/2008 18:39

cocolepew - we have a Dr B's cafe near us too.

They do the best bacon sandwiches ever, and have far better customer service than 90% of other local eateries.

The staff are lovely, and help keep our spirits up whenever DS2 is ill in hospital - the cafe is located just opposite the childrens' ward.
